Chapter 2268: Chapter 2268: Custom Lover (3)
Chuzheng only realized after coming out that the walls around this place were ridiculously high. No wonder the guy chasing Chen Jiao earlier could only yell from below.
Is this a height a normal person is supposed to be able to climb?
Chen Jiao dragged Chuzheng and ran for a while. "They probably haven’t caught up yet... I must have pissed off the gods for eight generations, how did I end up running into you? And why the hell did I bring you along?"
By the end, Chen Jiao was just muttering to herself.
Chuzheng: "..."
I never said I wanted to run.
I was planning to go back and ask that bird if it took my stuff.
Chen Jiao had rested enough. "Move it, they’ll catch up in a bit."
Chuzheng had charged for two or three hours, but after just a short run, she was low on power again...
Does this body burn through electricity that fast?
"I’m out of power again."
"Huh?"
-
Chuzheng discovered it wasn’t that she was consuming too much power, but that she couldn’t actually take in any charge.
When she was connected to the charger she could maintain some functionality, but once she disconnected, it went straight to low battery.
"Robots like you might need a different kind of charger..." Chen Jiao spread her hands. "This is a standard charger. Most robots on the market can use it. If you can’t, then there’s nothing I can do. You’ll have to find your own exclusive charging unit."
Chuzheng: "..."
She was one-of-a-kind; that charger probably only existed with her original owner.
Looks like she still had to go back.
-
Upper City District, villa district.
The villa’s overall style was a cool gray tone. The living room was spacious, with half of it taken up by Lego. Only a bit had been assembled, so it was impossible to tell what it was.
Right now, a man was sitting on the floor, slowly and methodically snapping pieces together.
Click—
A man dressed like a bodyguard came in through the foyer, head lowered as he walked up to the man.
"Sir."
The man didn’t look back. "Have you found it?"
Bodyguard: "Not yet. But someone in the Lower City District has seen it, we’ve already sent people over to search."
The man didn’t seem very concerned and just made a noncommittal sound.
"Keep it from Fong Wuye for now. Do your best to get it back."
"Sir, Young Master Wuye will be coming over tomorrow, I’m afraid..." it’ll be hard to hide.
That thing was something Young Master Wuye had poured a lot of time and effort into. Rumor had it he’d used a lot of new tech; it was one of a kind. If he found out it was missing, he’d blow the roof off.
The man raised a hand and rubbed his brow. "Find it as soon as possible."
Bodyguard: "Yes."
-
Night fell over the Lower City District. Neon lights, bars and clubs, and all kinds of Evil Demons and monsters came crawling out.
"That’s Bald Eagle." Chen Jiao and Chuzheng were squatting in the shadows. Chen Jiao pointed at the people in the distance. "You seriously want to go talk to him?"
"Yeah." I need to ask that damn bird if it took my stuff!
Chen Jiao looked at her like she was insane. "I’m not playing along with you. I’ll drop you off here; you’re on your own."
"Mm."
Chen Jiao: "..."
Chen Jiao wanted to say something, then stopped.
In the end she spat out a low "lunatic" and bolted off to the side.
Chen Jiao slipped through the crowd, crossed two streets, and gradually slowed down.
That robot isn’t going to get herself killed, right?
Ugh, she’s the one who wants to go die, what’s it got to do with me.
Whatever, whatever.
Chen Jiao’s fingers brushed the card in her pocket. She paused slightly, turned to scan the surroundings, and found a terminal she could check on.
No one used cash anymore; money was just a string of digits.
"Still a hundred grand? Who are you trying to fool..."
[Balance: 100000]
Chen Jiao rubbed her eyes...
She must be seeing things.
But no matter how much she rubbed, the digits on the balance didn’t change at all.
When she helped her buy stuff earlier, she’d clearly spent the last single unit. How was there suddenly a hundred thousand in there??
Chen Jiao numbly put the card away. A moment later she stomped her foot, turned around, and ran back.
Hope she’s still alive.
-
Of course Chuzheng was still alive. Right now she had Bald Eagle by the collar, grinding him into the ground.
The low battery warning was flashing nonstop in front of her eyes, and Chuzheng had no time for nonsense.
Chuzheng gripped Bald Eagle’s throat and asked in a chilling voice, "Did you take my stuff?"
"Wh-what... stuff?" Bald Eagle was shaking with fear.
"When you hauled me up, what did you take off me?"
Bald Eagle: "I-I didn’t! I didn’t take anything from you. When I dragged you up you already looked like that! I didn’t take a damn thing from you!"
What the hell kind of robot is this!
"You didn’t take anything?"
Bald Eagle nodded repeatedly. "I really didn’t, I swear. If I did, may I die a horrible death!"
Chuzheng: "..."
Chuzheng knocked Bald Eagle out with one punch, intending to drag him off to stash him somewhere, but her body was crackling and not cooperating.
At this point, every movement really was making the damage worse.
Before Bald Eagle’s men could find their way in, Chuzheng slipped out of the Dark alley.
When Chen Jiao came back, she didn’t see Chuzheng. She only saw Bald Eagle’s people searching all over for someone.
Chen Jiao stayed hidden, watched for a while, and judging by how those guys were acting, they probably hadn’t caught her...
-
Fong Yan wrapped up a full day of meetings and returned to his office, exhausted.
"Still haven’t found it?"
"No."
"..."
Fong Yan silently flipped through the files. After signing the last document, he grabbed his coat and headed out.
Fong Yan didn’t have the driver take him; he drove himself home.
He had barely parked when he got a call from Fong Wuye. "Bro! I’ll be there in a bit! Make sure my Little Cutie’s all ready to welcome me!"
Fong Yan: "..."
Your Little Cutie is currently MIA.
Fong Yan hung up and started thinking about how to bullshit Fong Wuye.
He went up the steps, and there, squatting at his front door, was a little girl.
Fong Yan narrowed his amber eyes slightly. "Where’ve you been these past two days?"
No response.
Fong Yan frowned, hesitated, then walked over and lifted aside the girl’s hair, bright gold and spilling like seaweed.
"In sleep mode?"
Clearly he couldn’t expect too much from Fong Wuye. Nothing that guy cobbled together ever worked properly.
Fong Yan unlocked the door, carried her inside, and dug out the charger.
Once he’d finished that, Fong Yan stood in front of the robot, thinking. Why was he even doing all this?
Based on his usual behavior, he wouldn’t bother with her at all...
Probably just because Fong Wuye was coming. That guy was terrifying.
The first thing Chuzheng saw when she opened her eyes was the man’s face, which had cooled a few degrees.
The man sensed her movement and looked up. His amber eyes reflected her figure.
Chuzheng stared straight at the man in front of her.
Good Person Card...
Talk about picking them up without even trying!
Fong Yan shifted his gaze away, walked over to the other side, picked up a glass, and poured water. "Who did this to you?"
Chuzheng very bluntly tattled, "Shu Zhixi."
Fong Yan’s hand paused mid-pour. He turned his head to look at her. "Her?"
"Mm." That damn bitch!
Fong Yan took a sip from the glass. "You went out on your own."
There were cameras everywhere in the villa. She had walked out through the front door by herself and then vanished.
Chuzheng: "She tricked me."
Fong Yan felt there was something off about this robot.
As a companion android, she was supposed to obey only her owner’s commands.
He’d never told her to go out, so nobody else should have been able to make her leave.
Let alone "trick" her.
What kind of program had Fong Wuye set up...
"Clean yourself up. Once Fong Wuye gets here, have him take a look at you."
