Interstellar Era: Starting As a Cleaner

Chapter 126: Sweep

Chapter 126: Chapter 126: Sweep

Yang Bo not only intended to retrieve his Bone Hammer, but he also planned to rob that Biological Mecha Manufacturing Base. Of course, he wouldn’t do it himself—he would have two nearby Mutant tribes do it for him.

While he considered them "nearby," they were actually quite a distance away.

The plan was simple: destroy the main energy source first, then launch a violent assault. As a bonus, he could bring back some rations—Energy Pillars—for Iron Bull.

The only thing Yang Bo didn’t know was what kind of defensive measures this Biological Mecha factory employed that made no one dare to touch it in this region. Was it just the few sentries he had seen, or perhaps armed personnel in Biological Mechas?

Upon returning to the Biological Mecha Manufacturing Base—or more accurately, the Biological Mecha cultivation base—he took a careful stroll around.

"What a pain," Yang Bo muttered. He finally understood why his chubby boss had said many famous people disliked electronic devices.

Looking at the thick iron door, he thought, "Damn, what era is this? They’re still using old-fashioned mechanical locks..."

Honestly, opening this door was much more strenuous than dealing with electronic controls. With electronic systems, a simple touch from Yang Bo would open the doors automatically.

The base had several places like this, such as the main control room. Everyone had a key, and behind the door hung a bell that would ring at the slightest touch. Yang Bo had taken the opportunity to slip inside by tailing someone else.

However, the area he was currently in was perpetually locked and completely deserted.

"Do the people inside not eat?" Yang Bo felt somewhat suspicious. The staff here wasn’t very large. Including the guards, there were about four hundred people in total—half technical researchers and half guards.

"Robots!" Yang Bo slapped his forehead. His own thinking had limited him.

During his last visit, he had wandered around for quite a while. Since everyone needed to eat—save for a very few Superpower Users—he had wondered if the people behind these doors simply didn’t need food.

"That makes sense. No wonder it looks like there aren’t many guards here. Having robots explains everything."

Having figured it out, Yang Bo prepared to take action. As for what he would do if there were combat robots? What did that have to do with him? It wasn’t as if he needed to deal with them himself. What else were those Mutants for?

Besides, if robots were really that effective, the Green Demon Star would have been conquered long ago. They definitely had flaws.

Yang Bo then retraced his steps and arrived at the border between the two tribes he had previously provoked.

"I wonder if I can get a mecha assigned to me this time."

"Don’t even think about it. I have a better chance."

"I just hope the boss loots a bit more."

"Shut up! The boss stealing those Biological Mechas is a secret. You’re not allowed to talk about it."

"Oh, right. When are we gathering?"

"At..."

The patrol members from both sides unintentionally overheard the opposing patrol’s conversation. This entire setup had exhausted Yang Bo. After fighting these people earlier, he had secretly collected biological samples like hair from them without their knowledge. Now, he was using Disguise to mimic their exact voices.

Since the tribes lived right next door to each other, they were all quite familiar. Upon hearing the voices, they immediately recognized them—wasn’t that the damn captain they ran into last time?

When the leaders of the two tribes heard this, they were somewhat skeptical but decided to check it out anyway. Lo and behold! The opposing side really was secretly hiding near the Biological Mecha factory.

Seeing both Mutant leaders secretly increasing their manpower, Yang Bo breathed a sigh of relief.

Inside the Biological Mecha cultivation base, Yang Bo looked at a massive alarm button. Below it was a line of text: "Press the button and proceed to the safe room within thirty seconds."

Even though there was no one around, Yang Bo still stepped out, disguised himself as a Mutant, and came back in to press it, just in case there were any recording devices.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP!

BEEP BEEP BEEP!

In an instant, urgent blaring sirens echoed throughout the entire base. Everyone was stunned for a moment before scrambling to run the very next second.

Yang Bo quickly headed to the warehouse, violently smashed open its main doors, and tossed his Bone Hammer into his Mecha Space. He then used Electric Energy to destroy the main system’s Light Brain. Thanks to his Metal Control, he knew exactly where the Light Brain was located.

"I dare to use the Bone Hammer openly now; why would I be afraid of them looking for trouble? Besides, this warehouse is about to be ransacked by Mutants. Can’t I just say I bought it on the black market or seized it from a Mutant?" he thought. Even if they somehow recovered the data and saw him using the Bone Hammer in the future, it wouldn’t matter.

Using Invisibility, he then arrived at the Main Energy Room. Although this area was heavily guarded, unfortunately for them, it meant nothing to Yang Bo. The door opened automatically in just thirty seconds.

The layout inside was similar to the Main Energy Room at the outpost above. Yang Bo went straight ahead and cracked open a safe, revealing row upon row of Energy Pillars.

He packed the Energy Pillars away first—a full twenty-four of them...

"This place is richer than a military base. But it makes sense; they don’t have any external support out here," Yang Bo marveled inwardly. He then summoned his mecha. While its exterior perfectly resembled a Biological Mecha, it was merely cosmetic. Grabbing his energy weapon, he began fiercely hacking away at the surroundings.

The lights across the entire base instantly went out. Piloting his mecha, Yang Bo clutched the box of Energy Pillars and sprinted away like a madman.

Outside, the observing leaders of the two Mutant tribes noticed the sentries in the passage hastily running away and immediately sensed something was wrong. After waiting for a moment, they saw the lights go out.

Both sides were already struggling to contain themselves. Just then, they spotted a guy in a Biological Mecha running out from inside, hugging a large box.

"Boss, hurry up!" the Biological Mecha bellowed. Immediately after, a large number of Biological Mechas and Mutants emerged.

"Who are you all...?" Yang Bo pretended not to recognize them, then turned and fled. In his "panic," he dropped a container holding an Energy Pillar, and as if by terrible luck, his mecha stepped on it, crushing it.

The intense energy fluctuations instantly made the two groups of Mutants breathe heavily.

"Charge!" both leaders shouted after exchanging a glance, showing a tacit understanding not to fight each other just yet.

A Mutant in a somewhat battered Biological Mecha rushed out a few minutes later, shouting at the top of his lungs to the two leaders waiting outside. "Boss, Boss! We struck it rich! We struck it rich! It’s full of armed robots inside, but we took care of them, and they were low on energy anyway!

"And the Main Energy Room has been breached!"

Loot!

Hiding in the shadows, Yang Bo chuckled. To know just how formidable these Mutants were at scavenging, one only needed to look at Base 16—they would strip an entire layer off metal walls if they could.

As for the safety of the people hiding inside? Yang Bo figured that since they had a safe room, they must be perfectly safe.

After waiting for an hour, Yang Bo saw that the Mutants had even dismantled the Cultivation Pods. A two-meter-tall Mutant, clad in battle armor, was carrying a damaged Cultivation Pod on his shoulder, running faster than a rabbit.

Two hours later, Yang Bo noticed that Mutants from two other tribes had joined the fray...

The dense swarm of Mutants made the scene as bustling as a lively market... Wires, boxes, clothes, lunchboxes, pipes—they even ripped out the metal toilets... Tsk, tsk.

This scene reminded Yang Bo of a movie he had once watched called *Lord of War*. An airplane landed, and within fifteen minutes, an entire plane full of weapons was gone... just gone.

Eighteen hours later.

Yang Bo used Invisibility to re-enter what was once the super research base of a certain mecha company.

It was a ghastly sight!

There was nothing left but bare stone walls. Even the Main Energy Room had been completely stripped; only the spots where equipment had once been installed remained visible.

"Tsk, tsk. No wonder these guys know Mecha Maintenance. Dismantling things must be an ancestral craft for them." Yang Bo shook his head. Even he didn’t know how to dismantle the Main Energy Room’s systems, yet these guys had somehow managed it.

The area where Yang Bo estimated the robots had been stored was also entirely empty. The doors and everything else were gone. The only things left were the dense clusters of anchor bolts embedded in the rock, serving as silent testaments to the facility’s former glory.

The safe room was indeed safe. It used the same type of door as the Main Energy Room, and it looked even sturdier.

"Work’s done. Should I go check out that treasure exchange convention?" Yang Bo was highly satisfied.
