Red Heart Patrols the Sky

Chapter 2909 - 116: No Need for Me

Could it be that the Dao debate between those two great beings really was interrupted by Jiang Wang?

Lingxihua’s eyes widened; she could not believe what she was seeing.

Jiang Wang himself was equally at a loss.

For the Knowledge and Hearing Bell, on which he had pinned such high hopes, failed to respond to Yu Zhen’s former path; it had not even been able to touch Yu Zhen’s Spiritual nature. Yet the one sword along the Tao Path by which he did all that lay within human means stirred up flying snow across the sky, making the firmament bitterly cold.

Could my sword truly stir the Long River of time, and sabotage the Transcendents’ grand design?

Though the edge of his sword had not obtained Real Sense.

But that figure which represented Yu Zhen did indeed vanish.

And that imposing figure, crowned with top-cap and drooping tassels, stepped alone out of the Long River of time, and stepped back to the High vault of heaven.

In the very process of stepping back to the High vault, both he and the Long River of time behind him, mirrored upon the sky, dispersed within the rippling light.

Only a single wistful voice remained: "Supreme Revered Deity is not what he seeks."

Then came a sigh—

"Yu Zhen is unwilling."

Even that sigh grew more and more distant, until at last it could no longer be heard.

Unwilling?!

Emperor Yuan Xi’s arrangement, extended over tens of thousands of years, had sought only to obtain this one possibility, to grant Yu Zhen Ancestor such a chance—to return to Transcendence, to re-attest greatness, to continue the legend.

And even so...

Yu Zhen was still unwilling?

Of all the beings present, each with their own identity and their own designs, none was Yu Zhen, and so none could understand Yu Zhen’s decision.

Yet the Spiritual nature of Yu Zhen Ancestor, and the remnant Thought of Emperor Yuan Xi, had indeed both vanished. For such great beings as they, following the heart is itself the Dao and Heaven’s principle; they truly have no need of anyone’s understanding.

But what of the Sea of Ten Thousand Gods?

What of this Divine King Body?

How is a layout and sacrifice on the God Enthronement Platform, stretching over tens of thousands of years, to be brought to an end? Is it all to come to nothing?

Xuan South Duke did not hesitate to collide head-on with Tiger Taisui both in the Shenxiao World and in Mo Yun City.

He then used his main Thought for Manipulation of the Red Fire deity statue, being the first to leap into the cauldron, to kindle the Dharma Altar Divine Fire. And he split his Thoughts to set the formation among The Gods, chanting in unison the "Touch Cloud Sorcery Divine Illumination Book of the Demon," jointly forging the supreme and most noble Divine King Body.

One could say he had poured out his heart and strength, only waiting for the Spiritual nature of Yu Zhen Ancestor to return, so that he might complete an unsurpassed great enterprise—and perhaps himself glimpse, from the side, the Supreme Tao Path.

Now the Divine King Body was still unfinished in its carving, and Yu Zhen Ancestor... was not coming?

The Sea of Ten Thousand Gods had surged for tens of thousands of years and gained nothing; Emperor Yuan Xi had left behind no other arrangement!

"You replace Our life, you replace Our life!"

Those standing aside could not understand these four characters on the cauldron’s body, but Xuan South Duke, who held sway over the God Enthronement Platform and knew many secret strands of history, understood their meaning all too well.

In those days Emperor Yuan Xi was gravely wounded, and wished to abdicate in favor of the worthy Yu Zhen Ancestor.

Yu Zhen Ancestor said that, within the Demon clan of that day, Yu Zhen’s becoming Emperor was far inferior to Yuan Xi’s long life; thus he substituted lifespan in his stead.

Presumably Emperor Yuan Xi also carried guilt in his heart, and so used the God Enthronement Platform’s layout to bring him back.

It was even Emperor Yuan Xi who, after the Heaven Demon Dharma Altar had fulfilled its mission, personally destroyed it, saying it was to avoid arousing the Human Race’s vigilance. And upon the cauldron’s body he carved these four characters, "You replace Our life," intending, after some years, to come to a state of mutual non-indebtedness with Yu Zhen Ancestor.

But my Emperor Yuan Xi, though you are magnificently talented and regard all heavens with disdain, in a matter so great as this, could you not first have asked Yu Zhen Ancestor’s opinion?

Only when the moment arrived did you discover his unwillingness.

Had you known earlier, it would have been better simply to sell Tiger Taisui a favor, and let his Huang Liang dream be shattered!

At this very moment, Jiang Wang’s bell-shaking to seek a path had failed. And he hung suspended in mid-air, almost face-to-face with that Divine King Body. Above him the Long River of time had already dispersed; below him The Gods gazed upward.

Those deity statues of all different forms looked over with all kinds of gazes.

Such a scene was indeed... a little awkward.

Xuan South Duke was able to control thousands upon thousands of deity statues and battle against Tiger Taisui, who Manipulated the Zhu Xuan; his Power within the Shenxiao World was certainly above the True Monster level.

But at the moment when Jiang Wang pierced through with his sword, all gods were making offerings to the Divine King Body, and he was presiding at the center, particularly unable to divide his focus.

Now he could divide his focus, but the Divine King Body, refined to this critical juncture, was something that neither letting go nor not letting go felt right. Thus the atmosphere upon this Heaven Demon Dharma Altar became distinctly strange.

...

Lu Qilang, whose Demon Mark of the heart’s rose had been severed, only after carefully treating his wounds and recovering roughly sixty or seventy percent of his Power, took up his sword and returned to the Divine Mountain.

But on this return trip, the whole world seemed to have changed, leaving him truly somewhat unable to make sense of it.

That one drenched in blood seemed to be Jiang Wang.

How had he not yet been taken, and even run back to the Heaven Demon Dharma Altar?

Could it be that he had been captured by Quan Yingyang, and was presently hanging there undergoing torment?

But even in torment, there is no reason not to disarm him; the Immortal Jade Pearl and Knowledge and Hearing Bell had not even been removed...

He glanced at Quan Yingyang, and was about to say something, when suddenly a movement stirred in his heart; Spirit Perception sprang forth. He abruptly turned his head toward the mountain path where Night Bodhisattva and Lingxihua stood.

And his body sprang up as well!

...

On the mountain path leading upward from the mountain terrace toward higher ground, Chai Asi was moved by the brilliance of that sword of Jiang Wang’s, when a strange feeling suddenly rose within his heart.

Painful, yet warm.

That feeling was as if he had returned to that shabby little courtyard in which he had grown up since childhood, seeing his grandfather leaning back in the lounge chair, bathed in sunlight, eyes closed, wrinkles deep, speaking of those distant, rambling stories that never quite touched the ground.

He did not even know why; in an instant tears flowed down his face, and unable to restrain himself he dashed down the mountain, vaulting over the mountain terrace, stumbling and staggering as he ran toward that cliff-face stone carving.

...

To speak of Ji Xingkong: with a single Faith-insect, he grasped the night of the Shenxiao World and achieved Night Bodhisattva; the Power he could wield had already reached the True Demon Level.
