Necromancer: I Am A Disaster

Chapter 933: In That Case I Won’t Stand On Ceremony

Under Lin Moyu’s perception, the star system was teeming with life force.

A significant portion belonged to humans, while the rest came from special lifeforms.

With the law of undeath flickering in his eyes, he surveyed the starry sky.

To Lin Moyu, each lifeform emitted a distinct aura that was easy to identify, appearing as countless points of light in different colors scattered across the vast space.

Filtering out the human cultivators, he locked onto the nearest special lifeform, roughly ten thousand kilometers away, clinging to a celestial fragment less than a hundred meters in diameter.

With a flap of his Deathwings, his soul force surged, carrying him straight toward it.

Ten thousand kilometers was barely a distance at all. On the immense scale of the greater world’s starry sky, it was practically within arm’s length.

In the blink of an eye, Lin Moyu arrived.

The special lifeform immediately caught his attention.

It resembled a transparent membrane tightly wrapped around the celestial fragment.

The fragment was steadily shrinking as the creature slowly consumed it.

It radiated 6th tier Transcendent God realm aura. Judging from the mission information, it was likely one of the weakest special lifeforms in this region.

Lin Moyu pointed with his finger, casting Detection.

[Starlight Mist Spirit]

[Realm: Transcendent God]

[Trait: a special lifeform born from the clash of conflicting laws and interweaving of starlight. Possesses immense life force but relatively weak offensive power.]

Lin Moyu’s eyes narrowed slightly, and several Skeletal Divine Generals materialized before him.

Massive rays of sword qi tore across the starry sky. The Starlight Mist Spirit let out a sharp squeal as its body was ripped apart.

Yet in the next instant, light from the nearby stars bathed its shredded form, and its body began rapidly regenerating.

Countless strands of starlight intertwined like threads, stitching the form back together.

Lin Moyu’s eyes flickered. The law of undeath manifested and spread across the Skeletal Divine Generals.

Even carrying only one percent of the law’s power, the Skeletal Divine Generals’ combat strength surged to an entirely new level.

They unleashed another barrage of sword qi, this time shrouded in a layer of gray-white light.

The attacks tore the Starlight Mist Spirit apart once more.

Infused with the power of death from the law of undeath, the sword qi began eroding its body.

The starlight lost its restorative effect and could no longer mend its wounds.

Worse, the law of undeath caused the damage to spread rapidly; the corrosion deepened at an alarming rate.

Despite being reduced to fragments, the Starlight Mist Spirit still refused to die.

With starlight unable to heal it, its body suddenly began glowing brilliantly.

Intense starlight erupted from its wounds, functioning like a manifestation of law that forcibly reconnected its severed parts.

Its appearance was like a massive piece of torn cloth barely held together by threads.

Letting out a shrill screech, the fragmented Starlight Mist Spirit lunged toward Lin Moyu, turning the starlight covering its body into a weapon.

Fine strands of starlight shot outward, striking both Lin Moyu and the Skeletal Divine Generals.

The attack was not particularly strong.

Although the Starlight Mist Spirit was a 6th tier Transcendent God, its offensive power barely reached the 5th tier standard.

Such an attack was beneath the Skeletal Divine Generals’ notice, let alone Lin Moyu’s.

The Skeletal Divine Generals repeatedly swung their swords, shredding the Starlight Mist Spirit into fragments.

Its starlight grew increasingly dim, eventually becoming too weak to hold its body together.

Under the relentless barrage of sword qi, its fragmented form finally exploded.

The Starlight Mist Spirit was dead.

Its remains collapsed into a sphere of starlight that glittered in the starry sky for a full ten seconds.

When the radiance finally faded, only a fist-sized core remained.

It was the core left behind by the Starlight Mist Spirit—the very item required for the mission.

Lin Moyu cast Detection on the core.

[Starlight Core: contains the law of starlight. Can be used to comprehend law or refine tools.]

Holding the Starlight Core, Lin Moyu’s eyes flickered with understanding.

He finally understood why the mission specifically required them to avoid causing major damage to the star system.

This uninhabited star system was essentially a production ground for Starlight Cores.

Starlight Mist Spirits were continuously born within the star system. Cultivators accepted missions to eliminate them and retrieve their cores.

Upon completing the mission, they received points that could be exchanged for various items.

The collected cores could either be used to comprehend the law of starlight or refined into tools.

“A win-win situation.”

Lin Moyu smiled faintly, stored the Starlight Core, and swiftly flew toward his next target.

The life force of the Starlight Mist Spirits was indeed formidable. Ordinary attacks could shatter them into pieces without actually killing them.

Most of their bodies were composed of the law of starlight, granting them extraordinary regeneration abilities.

Even when smashed to bits, they could fully recover given enough time.

To kill them completely, one had to use law to obliterate the law of starlight within their bodies.

However, doing so required considerable effort.

When it came to Lin Moyu, though, it was remarkably simple.

Dozens of Skeletal Divine Generals swarmed forward and struck in unison, slaughtering a Starlight Mist Spirit in the blink of an eye.

Lin Moyu tracked them down one after another, killing five or six in just half an hour.

At this rate, he would need only half a day to complete the mission.

Yet Lin Moyu was far from satisfied with this pace.

Killing the Starlight Mist Spirits was easy. The real issue was locating them.

The star system was filled with countless celestial fragments, some of which harbored Starlight Mist Spirits.

The few he had slain were all found on such fragments, and all were at the 6th tier Transcendent God realm.

They were exceedingly easy to kill.

“If only I could find a whole group of Starlight Mist Spirits…” Lin Moyu contemplated.

The law of undeath flared within his eyes as he began searching.

Before long, he spotted a massive number of Starlight Mist Spirits.

“The stars!”

Several large planets in the star system hosted quite a few Starlight Mist Spirits, but many cultivators were also present on those planets.

The stars, however, held the greatest concentration of Starlight Mist Spirits.

Yet, strangely, not a single cultivator could be seen there.

Lin Moyu instinctively sensed that something was wrong.

Although stars could inflict a certain degree of damage on cultivators, those at the 8th tier or 9th tier Transcendent God realm could still move freely across their surfaces.

As long as they did not remain there for too long, they would be fine.

Lin Moyu was certain the cultivators knew that the stars contained vast numbers of Starlight Mist Spirits.

So why was no one going there?

There had to be a reason.

After a moment of thought, he came up with several possibilities.

The most likely one was that the Starlight Mist Spirits would swarm anyone who attacked them.

The Starlight Mist Spirits on the star were densely packed together. Attacking one would easily alert the entire swarm.

If that happened, then no matter how weak an individual Starlight Mist Spirit’s offensive power was, their sheer numbers could produce a qualitative change.

Moreover, their astonishing life force made them extremely difficult to kill.

Once surrounded, even powerful cultivators could find themselves in a troublesome predicament.

Lin Moyu could easily imagine how dangerous such a situation would be.

Unless the cultivators on the planets joined forces, clearing an entire star would be impossible.

But everyone was busy with their own missions. How could they possibly cooperate?

A faint smirk appeared at the corner of Lin Moyu’s lips.

“In that case, I won’t stand on ceremony.”

He summoned the Godslaying Fortress, transformed into a streak of lightning once more, and flew straight toward the nearest star.
