I Can Fish Up Everything!

Chapter 339 - 226: You Don’t Want to Be Scolded by Auntie Do You?

Chapter 339: Chapter 226: You Don’t Want to Be Scolded by Auntie, Do You?

These were some pretty good oysters. They shouldn’t be hard to sell for fifteen or sixteen apiece. After trying one, Gu Nan felt reassured.

But it made sense. The game’s appraisal had given them a six-star flavor rating; it would be strange if they didn’t taste good.

He spent about an hour gathering, and the count definitely surpassed two thousand.

But this only cleared a tiny patch of the oyster bed. For the first time, Gu Nan truly understood the meaning of "a drop in the bucket."

But he wasn’t content with just one type of catch. Fengqi Island was so resource-rich, it made him all the more eager to see what other seafood it had to offer.

So, he got out of the water and continued toward the beach.

After walking a short distance, he came across many large sea snails.

There were quite a few varieties. He put the ones that could be imported and sold for a good price into his aquarium and simply tossed the rest.

If these were fish caught with his rod, or items found in the weekly beachcombing map, he might not have tossed them. Instead, he would have converted them directly into Gold Coins.

Unfortunately, Fengqi Island had a resource progress bar, and collecting anything would advance it. Therefore, if he was going to collect something, it had to be valuable and sellable.

Leaving the reef area, Gu Nan arrived at the beach.

He headed straight for the part of the beach covered by the tide.

’Only these spots will yield anything. How could there be marine life on the dry sand?’

He soon spotted some holes and a slight bulge in the sand. The thing was, this bulge was quite large, with a diameter he estimated to be about the size of a basketball.

Gu Nan grew curious. ’What could be in there?’

A sand shovel appeared in his hand. After two scoops, the creature within was revealed.

Staring at the siphon that most men would envy, Gu Nan was stunned. It was a geoduck.

’Aren’t these things native to the States? They are farmed domestically and in Southeast Asia, though.’

’It wouldn’t be surprising if some escaped from farms over the years and started breeding in the wild. I just didn’t expect to find them on Fengqi Island.’

’These things are great—expensive and easy to sell.’ Gu Nan immediately began scouring the beach for more.

He then discovered countless holes belonging to razor clams, far more densely packed than on his previous maps.

However, Gu Nan estimated he would be kicked out of the map in an hour or two, so he wanted to focus his efforts on finding geoducks.

However, after spending over ten minutes searching, he only managed to find two more. They were also huge, but the scarcity of them was surprising.

Apparently, geoducks were extremely rare here. Realizing this, Gu Nan had no choice but to do a quick sweep of the beach. After gathering about twenty of them, he went back to digging for razor clams.

He had plenty of oysters for now, so he could stand to get some more razor clams.

Besides, he would occasionally find a geoduck while digging for razor clams, which was a nice bonus.

Two hours later, a game prompt appeared. Gu Nan’s Spirit was about to reach its limit.

A bit reluctantly, he moved the razor clams and one geoduck from his bucket into the aquarium before returning to reality.

The moment he returned, a familiar wave of dizziness washed over him. He yawned involuntarily; he could clearly fall asleep in a second if he just closed his eyes.

But Gu Nan forced himself to stay awake to look at Fengqi Island’s resource progress: 97%.

’It dropped by so little? This is a pleasant surprise.’

The next moment, Gu Nan drifted into a deep sleep, filled with this happy thought.

...

The next day, the bamboo house was quiet in the early morning. Only the faint sound of distant waves could be heard, which made for an even more comfortable sleep.

It was nothing like his rental at Yangjiang Port, where the early mornings were filled with the noise of traffic and blaring horns from the street below.

Despite his late-night beachcombing, Gu Nan was already wide awake and full of energy.

After washing up, he went to the other bamboo house and found his grandmother already awake, looking for something in the kitchen.

"Grandma, what are you looking for?" Gu Nan asked curiously.

Zhao Chunlan started, looking at him with some surprise. "Ah Nan, why aren’t you sleeping in? You’re up so early!"

"I went to bed early last night, so I woke up early. Grandma, you’re not planning to make breakfast, are you?"

"Yes, but there’s nothing here. Ah Nan, you didn’t prepare anything?"

"Oh, come on, we’re on vacation. Why would we make breakfast ourselves? Grandma, you should go for a walk. It’s cloudy today, so it’s nice and cool outside. I’ll go buy us some breakfast."

"Alright, then I’ll go for a walk."

Zhao Chunlan accepted her future grandson-in-law’s kindness, nodding with a smile. She walked out slowly, her hands clasped behind her back, to go for her stroll.

The old woman might be advanced in age, but she was in excellent health. She was in her early eighties and didn’t even need a cane. Her gait was slow but very steady.

She didn’t have any major health problems, just slightly high blood pressure, for which she took medication.

Gu Nan drove out for a bit and quickly returned with a large bag of breakfast.

When he got back, Zhao Suying and Gu Dacheng were already up. Gu Xin was braiding little Yueyue’s hair.

"Everyone’s up, perfect. Let’s eat breakfast first. This morning, we’re going to the orange grove on the mountainside to pick oranges," Gu Nan said, putting the food on the table.

Even though this trip was a spur-of-the-moment decision, he had of course already looked up all the best activities the island had to offer.

Hearing this, Zhao Suying and Gu Xin were immediately interested. Even Zhao Chunlan, who had already returned from her walk, was tempted.

But she felt her old legs couldn’t handle the climb. After a moment’s thought, she waved her hand and said, "You all go ahead. I’ll stay home."

Gu Nan was just about to go upstairs to wake the little sleepyhead when he heard this and smiled. "Grandma, we can just drive there."

Zhao Chunlan paused, then lightly tapped her own head. "Silly me. I’m getting old and my brain’s not what it used to be. I completely forgot we came by car."

Climbing halfway up the mountain was fine for the young people, but it would be quite strenuous for the older ones.

But Zhao Suying was keen to challenge herself. "Son, you can drive Grandma up first. Your mom hasn’t been active in a while, so I’ll climb the mountain today."

"Alright~" Gu Nan raised an eyebrow, giving his mom a knowing smirk.

The mountainside looked close, but in reality, it would take even him an hour and a half to climb. The mountain path was no joke.

Without another word, he went upstairs, quietly opened Yi Chen’s door, slipped inside, and gently closed it behind him.

Yi Chen was actually half-asleep and could detect the sound of the door opening no matter how quiet he was.

Feeling someone enter the room, she immediately woke up fully. Opening her eyes, she saw a certain someone tiptoeing to close the door and was left speechless.

"Whoa!" Gu Nan jumped as he turned from the door. He had just closed it, and as he turned, the dim room seemed to suddenly light up, startling him.

He then saw Yi Chen lying in bed staring at him and couldn’t help but give an awkward smile. "Uh, you’re awake. I was just about to wake you up for breakfast!"

"Is this how you wake someone up? I’m almost too embarrassed to call you out on it!" Yi Chen retorted bluntly, rolling her eyes.

"Alright, I’m getting up. You get out first, I need to change."

"It’s fine, go ahead and change. There are no outsiders here!"

"If you don’t get out, I’m going to scream!"

"It’s fine. Scream your lungs out, it won’t matter!"

"..."

Half an hour later, Yi Chen walked out of the room, her face flushed and her legs a little weak.

Gu Nan grinned and wrapped his arm around her. ’Last night’s plan failed, so it’s only right to collect some interest this morning.’

But with the elders downstairs, he couldn’t take things too far. So after they went downstairs, he ran off to wake up An Jun and Ye Jing.

It was only because their girlfriends were there. Otherwise, he would have definitely shown those two that there are many different ways to be woken up.

After breakfast, the group set off for the orange grove.

The weather was perfect today—overcast and not too hot—so everyone decided to hike up the mountain.

Seeing this, Grandma was also filled with enthusiasm and walked a short distance with them.

But in the end, she didn’t push herself. Gu Nan drove her and the little girl to the entrance of the orange grove.

It was orange season, and you could smell the citrusy fragrance just by standing at the entrance.

However, the oranges were currently mostly green with a few hints of yellow, so they weren’t very noticeable from a distance.

Half an hour later, Gu Nan’s phone rang.

He answered it, and sure enough, it was Zhao Suying. She was tired of climbing and wanted him to drive and pick her up.

Gu Nan shook his head as he hung up. ’Knew it.’

He then told the little girl to stay with Grandma and drove off to pick up the others.

He picked up all the women. The men hadn’t come out to the main road to wait; they were apparently still hiking up the narrow trail.

Arriving at the orange grove again and considering that his dad, An Jun, and the others would take at least another forty minutes to arrive, Gu Nan suggested, "Why don’t we go in and pick oranges first? They’ll probably need to rest when they get here anyway, so let’s not wait."

The group happily agreed. Zhao Suying and Gu Xin went in with Grandma on their arms, while Yi Chen and the others took the little girl.

Gu Nan took them to buy tickets. Everyone except the little girl and Grandma had to buy one. They weren’t expensive, at twenty yuan each.

However, any oranges they picked had to be weighed and purchased on the way out. The price wasn’t high, just the normal market rate.

Inside the grove, you could eat as many oranges as you wanted, but you couldn’t waste them. Anyone caught doing so would be fined five hundred yuan, and there were staff patrolling.

At this time of year, most of the oranges were still a bit sour. One or two was fine, but no one could eat too many.

At twenty yuan for all-you-can-eat, the owner was making a killing.

Walking into the orange grove, he saw it was quite crowded. Today wasn’t even the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday yet. If it were, it would be absolutely packed.

The women went to pick oranges excitedly. Gu Nan watched as Yi Chen picked a bright green orange, peeled it, and held it to his mouth.

"Ah Nan, have an orange."

Gu Nan’s face immediately turned as green as the orange peel.

He glanced at his mom, who was standing to the side, gloating. ’Is she even my real mom?’

"Weren’t you enjoying yourself so much this morning? If you don’t eat this, I’ll tell Auntie all about how you bullied me. You wouldn’t want to get a lecture from her, would you!"

Seeing Gu Nan hesitate, Yi Chen leaned in closer, threatening him with a sweet smile.

"..."

’Was he really going to be bossed around by this girl?’

Gu Nan immediately refused. "I’m not eating it. You can see how sour it is!"

Yi Chen immediately turned and threw herself into Zhao Suying’s arms. "Auntie, Ah Nan is rejecting me!"

"Hiss~"

Gu Nan sucked in a sharp breath. ’She’s using her ultimate move right from the start?’

Zhao Suying "comforted" Yi Chen for a moment before turning on Gu Nan, her face stern. She menacingly snatched the orange from Yi Chen’s hand and shoved it right into her son’s mouth.

"Chenchen is feeding this to you personally, and you have the gall to look disgusted? Eat it!"
