Game: Civilization Paradise

Chapter 410: Succeeded

The battle between the two sides was growing fiercer by the moment.

The black-shelled insects charged forward in a frenzy, but they were shot down one by one by the mechs.

However, the onslaught wasn’t entirely ineffective. Soon, the mechs were overwhelmed and had to draw their Metal Blades for close-quarters combat.

Just then, the Blood Breath Spider, like a tiny red ant, scurried along the underside of the corpses, inching its way toward the egg from behind.

Long Ming’s heart was in his throat.

Although Hilic had spoken with absolute certainty, Long Ming still had his reservations. ‘After all, even a fourth-generation Standard Mechanical God’s scanners are no joke. There’s a chance it could detect the Blood Breath Spider.’

Fortunately, just then, the Type IV insect, Kaelin, went berserk. It spewed a wide cloud of green corrosive mist at Lieutenant Colonel Fei Ang, enveloping him completely.

Unafraid, Lieutenant Colonel Fei Ang activated his Energy Barrier and powered through the corrosive mist. He swung his Light Blade with all his might, bringing it down hard on Kaelin.

SQUELCH~

The blade sliced into Kaelin’s body, and green fluid splattered everywhere.

It staggered back a few steps and let out a piercing shriek.

A massive swarm of insects poured in from the main corridor. Mixed among them were countless red, self-detonating flying insects, all swarming toward Lieutenant Colonel Fei Ang and his men.

Lieutenant Colonel Fei Ang and his team lowered their Shoulder Cannons, charged up a beam, and swept it across the horde.

KABOOM—

A series of violent explosions erupted, throwing the scene into chaos.

Using the chaos as cover while Lieutenant Colonel Fei Ang and his men were busy fighting for their lives, the Blood Breath Spider successfully crawled under the canvas. It then bit through the eggshell, burrowed inside, and began devouring its contents.

Fei Ang and his men didn’t notice the Blood Breath Spider at all.

“It’s in!”

Hilic said gleefully.

Hearing this, the tension in Long Ming’s chest eased slightly. ‘I don’t know what this egg is, but seeing how protective the Military Department is of it, it must be something good.’

‘After all, when those Mechanical Gods stormed in, they didn’t go to rescue anyone. They came straight for this place.’

The seconds ticked by.

「Five minutes later.」

The Blood Breath Spider re-emerged from under the canvas and scurried quickly toward Long Ming.

Long Ming held his breath, waiting quietly, terrified that it would all fall apart at the last second.

Fortunately, the Blood Breath Spider made it back successfully.

Overjoyed, Long Ming held out his hand. The Blood Breath Spider climbed onto his palm and burrowed into his skin.

“We got it!”

Hilic exclaimed to Long Ming.

“Let’s go!”

Without a moment’s hesitation, Long Ming turned and left.

He quickly departed the supply storage area and ran toward the ship’s living quarters.

“Why aren’t you leaving? What are you still doing wandering around the ship?”

Hilic asked when he saw Long Ming hadn’t left.

“I need to rescue some people to have something to show for this. If I just wander in and do nothing, it’ll look even more suspicious.”

Long Ming calmly explained to Hilic.

“What a pain. Turn right up ahead!”

Hilic immediately gave him a direction.

Long Ming’s eyes lit up, and he immediately ran down the corridor to his right.

Hilic was a monster, after all; his ability to track prey was impressive.

Following Hilic’s directions, turning left and right, he finally arrived outside a medical supply room. A few insects were relentlessly ramming the sealed metal door.

The entire door was severely warped and on the verge of collapse.

Seeing this, Long Ming charged forward.

Inside the medical supply room.

An elderly female doctor, her face full of wrinkles and clad in a protective suit, was comforting a dozen or so young doctors, nurses, and wounded patients behind her.

“It’s alright. Rescue will be here soon.”

“Doctor Finley, will rescue really come for us?”

The faces of the doctors and nurses were filled with terror.

“They will!”

Finley forced herself to reassure them.

‘In truth, she had lost all hope herself.’

Suddenly, the ramming stopped. From outside, they could hear the death cries of the insects.

Finley and the others froze for a moment before realizing what was happening and shouting with joy.

“It’s the rescue team!”

“We’re saved!”

…

Just then, Long Ming’s voice rang out.

“Is anyone in there?”

“Yes!”

Finley quickly shouted back.

“Get away from the door!”

Long Ming yelled to Finley and the others.

“Okay!”

Finley and the others scrambled back.

Long Ming then swung his Light Saber, slicing the warped metal door open before stepping inside.

“A Mechanical God!”

Finley and the others were stunned.

They never expected a Mechanical God to come to their rescue. Normally, they prioritized saving important personnel.

Long Ming’s brow furrowed. There were so many people here, including wounded. He said aloud.

“Quick! Grab the wounded, we’re leaving!”

“Right. Carry the heavily injured. The rest of you, help those who can walk.”

Doctor Finley immediately directed the medical staff to start moving the wounded.

Once they were ready, Long Ming led them out.

Along the way, insects shrieked and charged at them.

Long Ming cut them down with clean, swift strokes of his Light Saber, leading the group toward the exit.

“Keep up!”

…

Outside the Kunpeng.

Squads of soldiers rushed out from various exits, escorting the wounded and carrying sealed metal containers.

Swarms of insects rained down from the sky.

From a distance, Luoxue, Qian Wei, and the others were shooting down the flying insects.

BANG! BANG!

Flying insects dropped from the sky one by one.

“Luoxue, so many people have already evacuated with wounded and supplies. Long Ming’s been in there for a while now… you don’t think something’s happened to him, do you?”

Mira asked worriedly.

“Don’t worry. With Long Ming’s strength, even if he runs into something he can’t beat, he can always get away.”

Luoxue replied calmly.

“But the number of insects isn’t decreasing—it looks like it’s increasing. What if this position is overrun?”

Mira’s face was filled with worry.

Hearing Mira’s words, Luoxue’s brow furrowed as well.

BOOM!

Suddenly, a massive explosion tore through the sky.

Luoxue and the others started, quickly looking up at the sky. They saw the Level 4 battleship, the Giant Horn, take a direct hit to its hull from the main cannon of a Level 5 Insect Ship.

The entire vessel snapped in two and plummeted toward the crimson ground below.

CRASH!

A colossal explosion reached for the sky.

A shudder ran through Luoxue and the others.

Seeing the Giant Horn destroyed, the remaining ships and starfighters didn’t retreat. Instead, like moths to a flame, they threw themselves desperately at the Insect Ship.

A dense barrage of beams and missiles rained down on the hull of the Level 5 Insect Ship.

KABOOM—

Innumerable explosions swept across its surface.

The entire surface of the Insect Ship was left pitted and scarred.

Then, all the ships accelerated wildly, charging forward in a suicidal attempt to bring down the massive Insect Ship.

Over the public communications channel, a series of heroic, desperate cries rang out.

“Brothers, let’s give ’em hell!”

…

At that moment, the Pollock’s biological response within the Level 5 Insect Ship spiked. Insectoid patterns lit up across the vessel’s entire body as countless insect-like eyes opened.

VMMMM—

A dense web of light beams fanned out in all directions.

KABOOM—

The sky lit up with countless explosions.
