Chapter 431: Rescue

Chapter 431: Chapter 431: Rescue

Long Ming silently followed behind the team. As the surrounding fog thickened, he felt increasingly uncomfortable, his spirit growing inexplicably agitated.

Just then, a gentle and familiar voice called out from behind him.

"Long Ming!"

"Mother?"

As if a nerve had been struck, Long Ming stopped and turned to look back.

But there was nothing behind him, only the drifting gray fog.

Long Ming’s expression flickered, and he turned his head back around.

But ahead of him was also a stretch of gray fog. Hopka and the others were all gone!

’Damn it!’

Long Ming’s expression shifted instantly, and he immediately chased forward.

Unfortunately, even after dashing forward for some distance, he still couldn’t see Hopka or the others.

’It’s over. I actually got separated from them.’

Long Ming’s expression grew even uglier.

’This godforsaken place is truly cursed. I just lost focus for a second, and they vanished without a trace.’

Long Ming took a deep breath, suppressed his agitation, and continued walking forward.

Unfortunately, after walking for more than ten minutes, he still hadn’t seen any sign of Hopka and the others. It seemed he was lost.

A glint flashed continuously in Long Ming’s eyes. He decided to follow the feeling of resistance in his heart, heading in whichever direction felt the most uncomfortable.

Time ticked by, second by second.

Long Ming passed through the gray fog and arrived at a massive plaza in the center of the ruins.

The plaza was surrounded by broken blocks of stone, and in the central area stood a dark red Pyramid.

Long Ming cautiously approached the dark red Pyramid.

He saw that the dark red Pyramid was engraved with a series of ancient, twisted pictographs.

Long Ming narrowed his eyes to examine the patterns engraved on the Pyramid’s surface.

Although he was no expert in the study of civilizations, he could more or less understand some of the pictographs. After all, nothing is more intuitive than a picture.

...

「Meanwhile.」

Under Dr. Anus’s guidance, Hopka and the others passed through the gray fog and reached the far end of the ruined city.

A cave appeared before them.

"It’s in there! Let’s hurry inside!"

Anus said to Hopka.

At that moment, Woperi said to Hopka.

"Captain, Red Ghost didn’t keep up. I think he got separated from us!"

"Damn it! That brat! Dropping the ball at a critical moment!"

Hopka cursed in frustration upon hearing Woperi’s words.

"That guy didn’t just chicken out, did he? He hasn’t wanted to save anyone from the start."

Antilo said with a sneer.

"Forget about him! Let’s hurry in and save them! Any later and it’ll be too late!"

Anus urged Hopka and the others.

"The rescue comes first!"

Hopka couldn’t wait for Long Ming any longer.

He led the group into the cave, and they sprinted down the passage.

Soon, they reached the end of the passage.

A gate fifty meters tall came into view. It was constructed entirely of dark red rock, its surface carved with ancient and intricate patterns and symbols.

"What is this?"

Woperi and the others stared at the gate before them in utter shock.

"This is the temple gate! They’re locked inside!"

Anus said to Hopka.

"Hmph!"

Hopka snorted coldly, rushed forward, and kicked the gate.

BANG~

The stone gate was violently kicked open.

"Go!"

Hopka led Woperi and the others inside.

They found themselves in a massive temple.

The entire temple was built from dark red rock. Thirty-six dark red pillars stood within, each carved with complex lines and patterns.

The center of the temple floor was branded with an ancient, mysterious totem, upon which sat a fifty-meter-tall humanoid stone statue with an obscured face.

Kneeling before the statue was a four-meter-tall, fourth-generation Mechanical God. It was clad in heavy gray armor, with a four-pointed halo embedded in its chest, a particle cannon mounted on its shoulder, two pairs of gray mechanical wings on its back, and a giant metal blade in its hand.

Countless monster corpses were piled up all around.

"Captain, look! Isn’t that Major Dimru’s fourth-generation Mechanical God, the Black Obsidian Envoy!"

Woperi shouted in shock.

"It really is him!"

A flash of joy appeared on Hopka’s face.

Just then, a series of weak cries for help rang out.

"Help!"

...

Hopka and the others whipped their heads around. Chained to the thirty-six dark red pillars were non-commissioned officers, all clad in second-generation exoskeleton mechanical armor and bound by dark red chains.

"Captain, the others are tied to the pillars."

Woperi shouted excitedly.

"You guys rescue the others! I’ll go save Dimru!"

With that, Hopka piloted his fourth-generation Mechanical God, the Prison-Shattering Envoy, toward the center of the temple.

"Don’t go!"

Just then, a non-commissioned officer in red second-generation exoskeleton mechanical armor shouted to Hopka with all his might.

"Why?"

Hopka immediately stopped and turned his head to look at the officer.

"Captain Dimru has already turned into a monster."

The officer said, his voice filled with grief and despair.

Hearing the officer’s words, Hopka’s face darkened.

At that moment, Dimulu slowly stood up, turned to face Hopka and the others, and opened his mouth to let out a beast-like roar.

Countless black particles burst from his body.

Dimulu’s Mechanical God was instantly dyed black, twisted patterns appearing on its surface as it emanated terrifying fluctuations of Power.

Hopka’s heart ached with grief as he watched this, and he said with a grim expression,

"Sorry. I was a step too late. It seems the only thing left to do is give you peace."

The moment Hopka finished speaking, the muscles all over his body swelled, and he charged at Dimulu like an enraged Fierce Beast.

Meanwhile, Woperi and the others seized the opportunity and rushed toward the stone pillars to rescue the men.

Facing the menacing Hopka, Dimulu also stomped on the ground and charged forward to meet him.

The two collided.

BOOM~

A terrifying shockwave swept out.

SCREECH~

The next second, the entire fourth-generation Mechanical God, the Prison-Shattering Envoy, was sliding backward continuously.

Veins bulged on Hopka’s forehead. He clenched his jaw and desperately unleashed his Power, but he was no match for Dimulu. What’s more, the most sickening thing was that the black particles emanating from Dimulu were constantly eroding his mind, preventing him from using his full strength.

At that moment, Dimulu lifted his monstrous left claw and slashed at Hopka.

Hopka immediately leaped back to dodge, then lowered his Shoulder Cannon, charged it with power, and fired at Dimulu.

Dimulu’s jet-black eyes lit up.

In an instant, countless black particles formed a barrier.

BOOM~

The beam slammed into the barrier and scattered.

"Damn it!"

’I can’t believe this guy has a barrier.’

Just then, Dimulu stomped hard on the ground, leaped forward ferociously, and swung the giant blade in his hand down at Hopka.

Hopka immediately sidestepped to dodge.

The giant blade instantly slammed into the ground.

RUMBLE~

The entire ground instantly cracked apart.

At that moment, Hopka swung his Giant Hammer in a wide arc.

BANG~

Dimulu raised his left claw and caught Hopka’s Giant Hammer bare-handed.

"How is that possible?"

Hopka was stunned.
