Chronicles of Primordial Wars

Chapter 352

C352 – New Land

Shao Xuan swam from the sea to the shore. Since the sea has just encountered a change just then, no other creatures came to make a move on him. However, once the movement below has truly ended and a longer time has passed, there will be more sea creatures here.

Shao Xuan didn’t dare to take any chances.

After reaching land, Shao Xuan finally felt safe. In the sea, although his foot was walking on stone, he was uncomfortable because it was still in the sea. Surrounded by the sea, there was no such a sense of real land, and he was also always worried that the hole would disappear at any time. His heart has been hanging, his nerves have not relaxed.

Taking a deep breath, he observed the surrounding was with the smell of dry wind and sand, with the wind having a smell of seawater. Shao Xuan had a feeling of being reborn. This feeling made him want to let go of his voice and roar a few times. However, in such a strange place, the noise may cause some unnecessary trouble. Therefore, Shao Xuan could only hold back.

Not far from the higher ground, a few of the camel beasts chewing cactus flowers with a kind of sentient look in their eyes, raised their heads a little. Since they were on higher ground, they were able to see the lower ground where Shao Xuan was at.

They have seen humans before, but have never seen anyone appear here. Since they had not seen one here since birth, the appearance of Shao Xuan made them surprised. However, these animals, even if surprised, had the same expressions on their faces.

The surrounding ground was dry, even though it was close to the sea. The scorching temperatures coming from the surrounding sandy ground and the sparse, wilted unknown plants around him told Shao Xuan that it had not rained here for some time.

Unlike the desert at the other end of the sea, it was not pure sand in this area. Nevertheless, because of drought and prolonged weathering, there were still more fine sand.

In other words, the place was more like a mountain, just by the sea and not so high.

Perhaps, a long, long time ago, the sea level was not as high as it was now, hence, that long strip of land at both ends of the sea under the water was exposed above the sea before.

In the stone room in Snowfield City where the records were stored, the blind old slave had said that the slave owners came from the sea. They had probably passed through that narrow stone strip from this side.

Thinking of the feeling he had at the bottom of the sea, the idea of listening to the totem’s choice, Shao Xuan had a guess. Could it be that the Flaming Horns tribe that has disappeared a long time ago, also passed through that narrow stone strip from the other side of the sea and came to this land?

Shao Xuan did not feel the existence of the fire here, so he could not determine whether the other half of the Flaming Horns tribe was really on this land. However, he did not feel discouraged. In nearly a thousand years, anything could happen. In the first place, the tribe was in a crisis at that time and that other part of the Flaming Horns tribe searched for solutions because of it, but later disappeared.

Thinking of this, Shao Xuan was suddenly looking forward to the search.

After drying the water on his body, Shao Xuan drank some of the water collected in his animal skin bag. His kettle had broken down at the bottom of the sea, so he could only use the animal skin bag with the rain stone as a water bag. In order to survive, one would not worry much about it.

With some rest away from the pressure in the sea, every cell in his body seemed to carry a pleasant atmosphere. His strength was picking up quickly, hence, Shao Xuan moved and walked along the sand. He did not go far at once. In this area, he did not find any other threat like the existence of ferocious beasts. If he were to pass by this land, what he needed first was to replenish his strength quickly, not just to seek for a fight with a beast.

Speaking of which, after not eating meat for so long, as a member of the Flaming Horns who were known as a carnivorous race, Shao Xuan felt his teeth itch. Looking at the higher ground where the camel beasts were looking at him, Shao Xuan could not help but think of them all as roasted whole camels.

Shao Xuan actually wanted to wait for himself to fully recover first before solving his hunger with those camel beasts, but the other side seemed to perceive his intention. Their necks twisted and the camels ran way. Soon, even a little extra peek was not spared to Shao Xuan.

Shao Xuan: “…”

Even after seeing the camels leave, Shao Xuan did not chase after them. He waited until he had physically recovered and he had enough ability to protect himself before he set off.

It was really dry here. As he went forward, he noticed the surrounding plants, most of which were cylindrical cacti. Some of the flowers above the cactus column were just eaten by those camel beasts. Even if they were a group of animals that were used to living in arid areas, they still needed to replenish their water supply. If they didn’t see any fresh water, since they couldn’t drink from the sea, they could only nibble the flowers. Besides, the flowers on this cactus can give them the water they needed to survive temporarily.

The further he went, the more he saw those cylindrical cacti around him. They were also taller, hence, they had more flowers which the camels couldn’t reach to eat.

The surrounding was also dry. There were many areas on the ground where there were obvious cracks. The heat waves around it had likely drained all the water on the ground, constantly scraping it.

But it didn’t take long for Shao Xuan to feel the changes around him.

The wind blowing from the sea was cool, different from the heat waves on the ground. The surrounding changes cooled down the warm and humid airflow over the land, and soon, a white mist was formed.

Standing on high ground, Shao Xuan could also see some white fog grouping near the coast. The winds from the sea blew these white fog towards land.

The surrounding became foggy, quickly shrouding the area in more and more white fog. When Shao Xuan inhaled, he could also feel the obvious heaviness in the water vapor in the air.

In the surrounding plants and other areas, the fog has condensed into water droplets. On a cactus column where a slender thorn has formed, water droplets gradually condensed into a small to large, clear crystal.

Shao Xuan even saw plants with lichens attached to them. When such a fog appeared, they would absorb the water vapor in the white mist like sponges. If these plants could survive, it meant that the white mist often appeared in this place.

It was no wonder that even if the surrounding area was dry, there were some plants. It was not like the other side of the sea with the barren and desolate desert.

There were more and more animals moving around. Living in such a place, no animal wouldn’t know how to use the natural environment to survive better. The small birds flying rushed in and landed to rest on a cactus column. They drank from the cactus thorns with condensed dew.

In a place where there was very little rain but a lot of fog, the dew brought by the fog was almost a life-saving supply of all the animals that live around here.

Because of the coming animals, Shao Xuan was on guard for a moment. Later, he found that there were only small animals here, and most of them were not a threat to him. As for large beasts, Shao Xuan has not seen any for the time being.

Shao Xuan also collected some dew. He could not always rely on the rain stone. In the sea, the ability of the rain stone to condense water was very strong, but on the shore, surrounded by arid areas, that efficiency was low. Therefore, this encounter was an opportunity to collect water, so Shao Xuan naturally would not let it go.
