Chapter 978: I Don’t Belong to Only You
Lu Yan held a spatula while he stir fried some vegetables. With the mention of his amputated right leg, he didn’t have any expression on his face.
“You want to know about it?”
“You can’t tell me about it again?”
He had many secrets, his identity, his sudden death three years ago, his amputated right leg…
He couldn’t tell her about any of that.
Lu Yan picked up his chopsticks, bringing a prawn to her mouth. “Why do you ask since you already know? Here, have a taste.”
“Oh.” An’an opened her mouth and ate the prawn.
At the next moment, she knitted her brows. “It’s so salty, did you put too much salt?”
Lu Yan tasted the prawn. Hmm, he really did put too much salt. He had only started learning cooking during the three years he spent in the mountains, but it was a shame, his culinary skills still remained equally bad.
It seemed he was born to be a warrior and wasn’t suited to be in the kitchen.
“Let me throw it away and recook it.” Lu Yan was already preparing to pour the prawns into the bin.
But An’an quickly stopped him. “It’s such a waste to throw it away. Never mind if it’s too salty, we can just add some sugar to it.”
She then added a spoonful of sugar into the prawns.
Lu Yan picked up a prawn and tasted it. “Did you just put too much sugar?”
“Let me try.”
An’an tasted it and her brows knitted. She had indeed put too much sugar and combined with the salt that he put earlier on, it tasted really weird. The flavors were far too intense.
An’an put down her chopsticks, sticking her tongue out guiltily. “Ha, haha, I don’t know how to cook either.”
Lu Yan ruffled her hair. “Never mind if you can’t cook, even though my cooking isn’t that good, you won’t die from hunger being together with me.”
Hearing this, An’an’s heart was filled with joy, she instantly held his muscular arm. “But your culinary skills are so bad, what am I going to eat?”
Lu Yan narrowed his eyes. Little rascal, it was already good enough he was going to provide her with some food, how dare she even complain.
He lifted his arm, wanting to rap against her head.
An’an quickly hugged him with a sweet smile on her face. “Your culinary skills are so bad, I’m going to have to brush up on mine. Comrade Lu Yan, let’s work hard together.”
How could she leave him to cook alone?
She would also work hard at it.
With the delicate body in his arms, Lu Yan smiled as he looked at her lovingly. This little fool also knew how to dote on him…
…
The next day.
An’an just got up and she received a call from Delia.
Lu Yan pulled his pants up, the corners of his lips hitched up in disdain. “Where is Delia going to take you this time?”
An’an waved her phone around cheekily. “We’re meeting in his room tonight.”
Lu Yan’s expression changed, he pursed his lips into a firm straight line.
“Ah Yan, Delia must have brought the stamp everywhere with him. It’s definitely in the room, if he doesn’t bring it around with him. It’s a golden opportunity for me tonight, I’m going to make sure to find that stamp and take it out with me.”
Lu Yan’s face was somber, his gaze spelled danger. After giving her just one glance, he turned around to leave.
“Ah Yan.” An’an ran over to hug him from the back. “Is it because you’re worried about me?”
Lu Yan put on his belt, his fringe covering his deep set eyes as he spoke up, “Just as you’ve mentioned, I know that you’re the best person to do this and I shouldn’t stop you since we’re in an operation now. However, you’re my woman. I didn’t manage to protect my mother, I don’t want–”
“Shh.” An’an placed a finger on his lips to stop him from talking. Coming up on her tiptoes, she kissed his nose before using a voice that only they could hear, she whispered, “Ah Yan, I’m not only going to complete the operation but most importantly, I’m going to make sure to protect myself. I’m not going to allow anyone to take advantage of me. Remember, I’m yours only.”
He had his responsibilities to shoulder. She had said it before, she would never become his burden. He could go ahead and protect his nation, she would continue loving him.
Lu Yan stretched his hand out to grasp her slim waist. “Now that you’re together with me, I’ll give you anything that you want as long as I’m capable of it. But it’s destined that you will have to suffer a lot too, it’s because… I don’t only belong to you.”
He didn’t belong only to her.
So he would always leave her side, leaving her all alone by herself. Or perhaps, this was the most dangerous moment in her life.
An’an’s lashes fluttered, she stretched her hand out and placed it above his chest. The strong sounds of his heart pumping made her hand feel numb.
She pretended to sigh. “Sigh, what can I even do about it? I only have myself to blame for falling in love with a hero. As long as I’m the only one in your heart, I’ll be content.”
Lu Yan held onto her hand, clutching it tightly. “Maybe I’ll be late, but I’ll never be absent. If there’s any danger, I’ll definitely go over to you and help you. Protect yourself before I come. Understood?”
“Hm, got it.” An’an nodded her head. She was suddenly reminded of something. “Oh right, it’s going to be dangerous tonight. Get someone to pick Xue Niang up and bring her somewhere safe. Once Delia analyzes the issue he will surely go look for Xue Niang first thing and cause her trouble.”
Lu Yan kissed her on the lips. “I have my plans.”
…
In the villa.
Delia stretched out his arm to hug An’an. “Baby An’an, you’re finally here. I missed you so much, come and let me kiss you.”
An’an quickly pushed Delia away, her gaze riveting on Qianqian, who stood in a corner. “Master Delia, there’s someone here.”
Qianqian stood in the living room, she looked at An’an and noticed a red mark behind An’an’s ear. If she didn’t look closely enough, she wouldn’t have been able to tell it was a hickey.
Lu Yan sent her back to the hotel last night and left immediately. He must have gone back to look for Gu An’an. The hickey behind Gu An’an’s ear must have been his work.
Lu Yan and Gu An’an must have spent the night yesterday together.
Qianqian’s hands were balled into two fists by her sides. The man she had spent so many years chasing after had fallen in love with another woman. She hadn’t expected such a cold, mature man like Lu Yan to have feelings for a woman.
She had assumed that he would never fall for any woman on earth.
Qianqian’s eyes were filled with seething jealousy, it was so strong that it could almost burn all of her sense of rationality.
“Brother, I know that you have a beauty ready for you tonight so I prepared a few items to help spice things up,” Qianqian said.
“What did you prepare?”
A maid brought over a paper bag, it was filled with sexy lingerie inside that was very much indecent.
“Miss Gu, put these on tonight and serve my brother well.” Qianqian revealed a sardonic smile while she spoke.
Delia’s eyes lit up, he was imagining how gorgeous An’an would look if she put those lingerie on. He could hardly wait. “Okay, Baby An’an, go upstairs and put these on for me to see.”
An’an gave Qianqian a cold glance.
They suddenly heard some steady footsteps and an imposing figure walked over.
It was Lu Yan.
