Chapter 1658: What’s My Reward?
Prior to today's grand launch, Linda Chua had already contracted some of the invited influencers, models, and celebrities as Orchidia Philippines' first endorsers. Their posters were all over the store, behind the products they were endorsing.
The most prominent posters, however, still belonged to the company founder, Iris Long.
Seeing her in the flesh, the Filipino Orchidia endorsers couldn't help but feel star-struck despite being popular themselves in the country. Her skin was unbelievable. Even they felt impressed.
All of them underwent cosmetic enhancements, at least to improve their skin condition. Even so, their skin still couldn't compare to Iris Long's. Hers just looked smoother, fairer, and healthier than all of theirs combined. It seemed like fresh water would come out of her skin if squeezed. That was the impression her skin gave them.
When they signed the contract with Orchidia Philippines' endorsers, they received products ahead of the grand launch to try. Regardless of which brand they endorsed—whether that was Orchidia Beauty, Orchidia Mommy, or Orchidia Baby—they all received an array of different products from all brands, including Liberté perfumes.
Every single product was high quality, for sure. Nobody experienced any allergic reactions or other concerning side effects.
The Orchidia Beauty products really did improve their hair and skin within a few days. The product sizes were also the best among the brand's foreign competitors within the same price range. Customers would definitely feel like they got their money's worth.
The endorsers who were parents also felt extremely satisfied with the Orchidia Mommy and Orchidia Baby products they received. Everything was made with high-quality material. Nothing seemed to be toxic. The product designs prioritized the mothers' and babies' safety and comfort. Their favourite was the new line of mosquito-repelling products.
As for the brand Liberté, Linda Chua didn't invite any Filipino endorsers. At the moment, Liberté still only had three perfume lines.
Iris Long was the global ambassador for Eve.
Yin Meixing for Sérénité.
And lastly, Jin Chongin for the men's perfume line, Vaillance.
The posters of these three global ambassadors were plastered all over the Liberté section along with the different perfume types.
Iris chatted with the invited guests; several of them were the ones Linda chose as endorsers. All of them expressed their excitement about being part of Orchidia Philippines' family. She listened as they shared their experiences in trying the products from the different brands.
Afterward, Iris finally had time to chat with Linda.
True to his initial intentions, Jin Liwei faded into the background to allow Iris to shine by herself. He stayed by Paul Ferrer's side to babysit the two young brats.
"What do you think, Xiulan—I mean, Iris?" Linda asked.
"Looks great, Linda," Iris replied with a smile. "You did an excellent job."
Linda pointed at two celebrities—a male and a female—across the hall. "Those two are the current most popular actor and actress in the country right now."
Iris glanced at them. She remembered the dossier that Ketchup had sent her before their flight to the Philippines. Their backgrounds were clean. Nothing too concerning, at least. "They look better in person than in photos."
"Yes, they're not the classic beauty archetype. But they're loved by the people. They also worked their way up from the bottom. Not like those who got famous instantly and fizzled out after a couple of years. Those two started young, slowly but surely built their reputation in the industry, before finally reaching the top. Quite impressive."
"Indeed."
"So?" Linda asked, her eyes expectant.
Iris chuckled. "Okay, approved."
"Yes!" Linda resisted the urge to do a victory dance.
After all, she was now the president of a domestic branch of a multinational company. She needed to maintain a certain kind of decorum in public.
"I'll send a formal invitation to their respective managements, then," Linda said.
"Yes, keep me updated," Iris replied. "If everything goes well on their end, I'll arrange for a Paris trip for the two of them. Clover can tour them around the Liberté headquarters. Then we can start developing a new line of perfumes for those two that are suitable for the Filipino market."
"Don't worry, Iris. I'll make sure to negotiate the best deal for us with their management."
"I know." Iris patted Linda's shoulder. "I trust you."
Linda was internally celebrating. This was something that she fought hard to propose. She wanted to develop and introduce new products solely for the Filipino market.
Starting with the Liberté brand seemed to be the easiest way. Besides, the head of Liberté was her own sister. Together, Linda and Clover, with Dom's support, were able to finally persuade Iris to consider the idea.
Of course, Linda prepared everything to make her proposal more appealing. She went through several celebrities and chose a handful who she thought would be the best Filipino ambassadors for Liberté.
The final choices were the invited actor and actress today. Those two had no idea that they were being considered as Liberté ambassadors. They only thought that they were invited to help hype up this grand launch. For the two and their managements, it was a win-win situation as they were also able to hype up their images by being associated with a globally trending multinational brand.
Linda was very satisfied with the two of them. Now that she had received Iris Long's approval, she couldn't wait to contact the actor and actress' respective managements to begin contract negotiations.
If this project with Liberté succeeded, then she could leverage it and propose more product developments suitable for the local Filipino market. She wanted to make her mark in the global Orchidia brand by making the Philippines division unique. That was her vision for Orchidia Philippines.
Finally, the company store was opened to the public. Security was tight. Only a few customers were allowed to enter at a time.
Anticipating the big crowd, Linda ordered a huge inventory for today. Even with a purchase limit per person, the lines of customers wanting to enter the store seemed unending.
"Please remember that you can buy everything online," the staff told the customers. "We'll give you discount vouchers for every purchase you make today."
The customers cheered.
Iris Long signed autographs and took pictures with her fans, the Black Stars. She also took the time to chat with them, getting to know them as much as possible within a short time.
Many of the original Black Stars often testified that their Boss Iris remembered them from seeing them just once. This was just one of the many reasons why the Black Stars grew so loyal to her. She really treasured her fans from the bottom of her heart. They could really feel her care towards them. It wasn't just pretend. It was genuine.
She was genuine.
Now, these Filipino Black Stars had the opportunity to get to know her in person as well. They weren't expecting her to be so kind and friendly. Despite the scary bodyguards hovering behind her, the Black Stars felt relaxed interacting with their Boss Iris. After all, they were the Black Stars. They were disciplined and would never endanger their Boss Iris. There was no reason for her bodyguards to move against them as long as they remained sane and civil in their actions.
The day went by. The invited guests had already left, but Iris and Jin Liwei stayed in the company along with the Chua family.
Domingo Chua came with Lin Yehan after their business meeting.
"How was it?" Reina asked her husband.
Domingo gave her a thumbs-up. "But I'm hungry."
"I'll get you something to eat. Stay here with your grandkids."
Reina left to grab some food for her husband while Domingo played with Marjorie's children.
Lin Yehan headed to his own wife. Since Jiang Ying Yue was still on duty, he could only squeeze her hand while resisting the urge to kiss her in public. He knew that his wife didn't have his Third Brother and Third Sister-in-law's shamelessness.
Jiang Ying Yue looked at him with a question in her eyes.
"Everything went well," he whispered to her.
She sighed in relief.
"All that remains is the contract signing," he said. "Then my business trip to the Philippines would be a success."
"Good. Congratulations."
"Thank you, wife."
Iris watched the husband and wife looking at each other with sticky eyes. "Ying Yue, go ahead and take care of your husband. I see Aunt Reina getting food for Uncle Domingo. You should show Eldest Brother to the buffet table as well."
"But I'm still on duty—"
"I'm giving you the rest of the day off," Iris interrupted her. "I have my own husband here. He won't let anything happen to me."
"En." Jin Liwei nodded.
Jiang Ying Yue hesitated a bit before nodding. She signalled at her colleagues with her eyes before leaving with Lin Yehan for the buffet table.
"Are you tired, love?" Jin Liwei leaned down and asked.
"Not at all. I'm happy." She swept her hands across the busy store.
The staff were working hard on restocking every time a new batch of customers entered.
Jin Liwei chuckled. "Congrats, love. I'm so proud of you."
"What's my reward?" Iris asked, her tone mischievous.
He raised an eyebrow. "What do you want? Everything I have is already yours. But I'll get you whatever I don't have."
"What if I say I want another baby?"
He froze before asking after a few seconds, "Are you serious?"
She giggled. "I'm joking! Giving birth hurts so much. I don't want to experience it again. We already have the twins and our other kids. They're enough."
Jin Liwei calmed his erratic heartbeat. "En, I don't want to see you suffer childbirth ever again. Our kids are enough. More than enough."
