Chapter 139: The Vulcan’s Number One, Blue Whale Monster
Ling Jiu was melancholy. Before this, he was fond of Ai Yuhe, mainly for her good look.
But what happened today made him realize that a good look alone was useless when they did not share the same thoughts. They belonged to different worlds.
‘To put it simply…Forget it. I’m done. There are many women in the world. I should keep my options open. I ain’t a wussy.’
*BANG!*
The noise of a fierce fighting suddenly came from ahead. Ling Jiu immediately rushed over.
Pushing aside the bushes in front, he saw two people were attacking a centipede.
He called that thing a centipede, as it looked like one. Just that it was over a thousand times bigger than a normal centipede.
Its body was over 70 meters long, dark blue, covered in thick hard armor. Its head had two long pointed horns that looked like steel knives.
The most striking thing about this centipede was that there were hundreds of legs growing on its belly, much like the millipede.
The two people fighting the millipede were his acquaintances: his roommate Shi Gang and Shi Gang’s partner Dylon.
Dylon, who had transformed into a two-meter-tall giant, was hugging an enormous tree trunk and frantically smashing the giant centipede.
The giant centipede was reeling from the blow. But the hard armor on its head was amazingly hard. The tree trunk could not cause any substantial injury to the centipede.
Meanwhile, Shi Gang did not sit idle. He focused his eyes and shot out black flames as a barrage of arrows. The giant centipede went up in flames instantly.
The giant centipede was struggling violently from the burning flames, rolling its body and smashing things indiscriminately, destroying plants, vegetation, and trees in the surroundings.
“Come back, Dylon!” Shi Gang shouted. “This beast will not live long!”
After hearing this, Dylon came back up to Shi Gang and looked at the giant centipede going up in flames. He and Shi Gang had been working together for a long time, so he knew how badass the black flame was.
It would not be long before this giant centipede died, as Shi Gang said. All they had to do was wait.
But what they did not expect was that when the black flame was about to burn the giant centipede to its death, it exploded in a loud boom.
The internal organs, bones, and legs covered in black flames flew out in all directions. An enormous chunk of these pieces was heading in their direction.
“Not good!”
The expressions of both Shi Gang and Dylon changed at seeing this.
It was not of the internal organs but the black flames that they feared.
If any black flame were to get on their bodies, it could inflict great harm even if it was just a moment. It made no difference, even if Shi Gang could put out the flame because it would take time.
“Shinratensei!”
Ling Jiu intervened at this moment.
Shinratensei bounced off the jets of black flames.
“It was a close call!”
Shi Gang wiped the cold sweat from his forehead when Ling Jiu came out of nowhere suddenly. “Thank you so much just now, Ling Jiu!”
“You’re welcome!” Ling Jiu waved at him. “Are you all right?”
“I would have been done for if not for you.” Shi Gang heaved a sigh of relief and then looked at the shattered giant centipede and frowned. “How come it exploded suddenly?”
“This centipede is worthless now!” Dylon said. “Let’s find another one.”
“D*mn! So unlucky!”
Shi Gang spat, feeling upset. The earth suddenly trembled violently. He tumbled and fell to the ground.
“What is going on?” Shi Gang asked with a shivering voice.
“I don’t know.” Dylon shook his head.
“What did just happen, Ling Jiu?”
Shi Gang asked. The ground shook again as if there was an earthquake as soon as his voice trailed off.
“If I am not mistaken, something has happened over there, at least a few kilometers away!” Ling Jiu pointed in a direction.
“So far?” Shi Gang’s voice trembled. “It must be something big”
“Let me check it out.” Ling Jiu disappeared from the place as soon as he finished speaking.
“Let’s go too!”
…
When Ling Jiu arrived at the place, he saw a vast lake with lush greenery in the surroundings.
It was supposed to be a beautiful scenery. Unfortunately, a behemoth and a group of uninvited guests had destroyed everything here.
In the middle of the lake was a behemoth resembling a blue whale, its body was over 100 meters long with ten stubby legs under its abdomen.
Like all the animals on this planet, its body was wrapped in a thick layer of hard armor, as if a layer of steel. There was no question how powerful its self-defense ability was.
Ten arcanists were frantically attacking this monster right now.
But it was useless.
The attacks—whether it was flames, lightning, earth, rock and water—could not even make a dent on the blue whale monster’s defensive. Not even a scratch.
On the contrary, the blue whale monster had smashed the ground and set off a gigantic wave. The ground trembled violently, causing these people to lose their balance.
“D*mn it! This beast’s defense is so terrific. We can’t hurt him a bit!”
“How do the monsters grow on this planet? Why one is more terrifying than the one before it?”
“Hell, who knows?”
The dozen arcanists cursed when their attacks did not work. As much as they cursed, that was all they could do.
“Can you all kill this beast or not?” A dull voice came from the shore. “If not, just step aside!”
The dozen of arcanists looked in the voice’s direction. They were pissed but dared not say anything as the one speaking was Francis, Top One in the Vulcan’s training camp. He represented absolute strength. None of them dared to change him.
“Francis, we are helpless against this monster. We will leave it to you.”
Ten arcanists gave up the blue whale monster, albeit a bit reluctantly.
“You all should have done this long ago before things got embarrassing.”
Francis snorted as he looked at the arcanists watching the battle in the surroundings.
There was so much noise from the battle that it had attracted not only Ling Jiu but also more than thirty other arcanists.
There were now fifty arcanists, including Francis, Han Chujun and the dozen attacking the monster, around the lake alone.
A steady stream of arcanists was pouring in as the noise here was too hard to ignore.
“What about you all?”
Francis looked at the other onlookers. “I will give you all a chance; anyone thinks he could kill this beast may do so.”
Those arcanists looked at each other and shook their heads. They had seen how helpless the dozen arcanists were just now. None of them could take down the blue whale monster. They had more or less the same level of strength as those dozen arcanists. So they really could do nothing about the monster.
Therefore, instead of chancing their arms and embarrassing themselves, they figured they had better let someone else do the honor.
“No one dare to go up against it? Don’t say I didn’t give you all a chance then!”
Francis looked at Han Chujun. “My dear, wait here and watch while I kill that beast.”
“Okay.” Han Chujun nodded like an obedient child.
He gave Han Chujun a peck on the face. Just before he lunged out to kill the blue whale monster, an irate voice came.
“Step aside. That thing is mine!”
