Chapter 167: Registering an Account

Mr. Xiao, the manager of the brokerage firm, was a forty-plus-year-old honest-looking middle-aged man.

He politely guided Tang Meng, Ling Yun, and Yao Rou into his own office to have their seats, before summoning his most capable broker agent to the room.

After exchanging formal greetings with each other, Tang Meng went straight to his main point. He asserted, “Uncle Xiao, this is my buddy, Ling Yun. We are closer to each other than biological brothers. He wants to open an account here at your firm so could we maybe see what sort of good deal you have going on here?”

Tang Meng made sure his stand was obvious. By emphasizing Ling Yun to be closer to him than biological brothers, he was signaling for Mr. Xiao to come up with a better-than-decent offer.

Mr. Xiao, along with his agents, glanced at Ling Yun professionally.

Ling Yun had not commented on anything since his entry to the office. All he did was to sit casually on the sofa, caressing the hands of Yao Rou.

For someone around the age of seventeen and eighteen dressed in a loose outfit, Ling Yun did not portray the image of a son of any powerful or wealthy authority. Other than his domineering height and vibrant smile, there was nothing too unique from his appearance.

Another impression that Ling Yun left on Mr. Xiao was his casualness and his nature to treat any place as if it was his home. He had no intention to hide his true self and identity in front of people.

Mr. Xiao proposed, “Anyways since he was introduced by Master Tang, we will definitely provide you with a larger discount. What do you think of this? For each processing fee and transaction fee, it will be charged at just 0.0002% more than that of your mum’s, is that okay?”

Tang Meng’s mother was a regular customer of this firm. Over here, there was nothing she did not invest or fiddle in. From stocks to options and chips, she had a part in them all. Due to her loyal acquisition of funds through the firm, she was offered an unbelievably low administrative fee. By proposing a percentage just a little higher than that for Tang Meng’s mum to a stranger like Ling Yun, Mr. Xiao had showed face to Tang Meng and his mother.

“Uncle Xiao, I guessed you might have misunderstood my point.” Tang Meng asserted.

The manager was shocked. So were his group of agents. Many of their other customers introduced by Tang Meng’s mum had not been offered such a low percentage. What was so special about Ling Yun? Why did Tang Meng fight for his privileges so enthusiastically?

“Uncle Xiao, my mother had told me to invite my buddy to your office and that only meant one thing. She hoped you could offer him a percentage lower than her own.” Tang Meng commented.

From shock to a state of immense disbelief, it took less than one second for Manager Xiao and his agents’ face to change.

Lower than hers? Wasn’t that as good as basically waiving his administration fees? What in the world…?

Up until that moment, Ling Yun had not made any comment. All he was doing was to explore the material of the stockings Yao Rou was wearing.

‘Uncle Xiao, I understand that your firm has your own set of guidelines and rules to abide by. So how about this? You could increase the percentage from my mum’s account as a reimbursement so that your company will not suffer any losses…” Tang Meng came up with an idea.

Everyone in the room was shocked. Lest Tang Meng and Ling Yun. Sacrificing your biological mother’s money just so to help your buddy clinch a lucrative deal with a minimum administrative fee? What exactly was going on between Ling Yun and Tang Meng? Even Yao Rou’s eyes glittered in surprised.

“Tang Meng, I’m afraid that is not possible. I’ve known your mother for so long and she has always been our regular customer. There is no the way I would do that to her!” Manager Xiao made his stand.

Seeing no other way out, Mr. Xiao looked at his agent before smiling politely back at Tang Meng. “How about this, I’ll get Xiao Zhang to register an account for your buddy. As for the fee, there is no way the government would accept zero percentage. So, I’ll offer your buddy at a percentage of 0.0001%, half of your mum’s, is that fine with you?” Manager Xiao lowered his offer to fit Tang Meng’s request.

Tang Meng turned his head back to Ling Yun. Before he had left the house, Zhuang Meifeng instructed Ling Yun to bargain for a lower administrative commission. Make it as low as possible.

Ling Yun was already rather satisfied with the original 0.0002% offered. Now that Tang Meng had bargained it to 0.0001% for him, Ling Yun knew that was probably the limit. Thus, he looked up at Tang Meng and nodded his head in agreement.

Mr. Xiao and his men were still taken aback. Since their entry, Tang Meng had been talking non-stop whereas Ling Yun did not make any sound at all. In the end, their respectable Master Tang had to seek his buddy’s opinion before going on with the negotiation. Manager Xiao started to see Ling Yun in a different light.

“Mr. Ling, you have to deposit a certain amount to register for an account, how much would you like to deposit?” Xiao Zhang, a broker, asked.

Zhuang Meifeng had given instructions to Ling Yun. He subsequently put his hand into his pocket to hand a cheque of a hundred million dollars to Tang Meng.

“Deposit eighty million and use the remaining twenty million to buy the items on the list.” Ling Yun ordered.

The cheque that was given by Murong Feixue to Ling Yun had no registered receiver. Hence, whoever in possession of it would be able to exchange it for cash. Hence, the time taken to complete the registration of account was shorter than expected.

After everything was settled, the trio made their way out of the firm happily. “Hey buddy, since when are you so daring to ask of the firm to increase your mum’s administrative percentage? Are you not afraid of suffering at the hands of your parents?” Ling Yun asked Tang Meng.

“Buddy, it was exactly because I knew they would not dare to do it. Hence, my daring statement to the manager. If not how else could I get you such amazing terms?” Tang Meng explained.

“Oh and buddy, who gave you that piece of the cheque? One hundred million dollars? Where did you get that from?” Tang Meng added, after suddenly remembering about it.

He was shocked earlier when Ling Yun handed him the cheque. However, as there were outsiders present in the office, Tang Meng had not asked about anything.

“I’ll tell you more about this another time. For now, send me back to school. I’ll let you guys know what to do next.” Ling Yun instructed.

En route back to school, Ling Yun explained to Tang Meng and Yao Rou about the items on the lists to buy. He had also emphasized on settling the opening of the clinic as soon as possible.

Understanding Yao Rou’s eagerness to work for him, Ling Yun smiled as he felt a little grateful to her. “Alright, go and quit your internship at the hospital. You can submit your resignation letter to them tomorrow and come over to help me out. As for your benefits, I’ll make sure you are happy with it!” Ling Yun commented.

That was enough to excite Yao Rou for the rest of the day.

After alighting outside the school and realizing he still had some time to spare, Ling Yun made an effort to return home first.

“Hey hubby, why did you not come back with the items that are on the list?” Zhuang Meifeng was curious.

“Who said I did not purchase any of them? Look!” Ling Yun sat on the sofa, put his arm around her curvy waist and showed her the card for the new account.

“One is for trading for stocks, the other for future contracts, forty million dollars in each. I’ll deposit the money in the box into the account next time!” Ling Yun added.

“So fast?!” Zhuang Meifeng was amazed by the speed of which Ling Yun got the task done.

He proceeded to let her know of the PIN for the account. “As for the items on the list you wanted me to buy, I’d already tasked Tang Meng to get it done. With his efficiency, the items would probably reach our place by afternoon. You’d better cover up yourself with more clothes!” Ling Yun warned his beloved girl.

Nowadays, departmental stores provide not only doorstep delivery but also assembling of the furniture and appliances for their customers. Hence, it was definitely safer than not to precaution Zhuang Meifeng about her dressing at home.

“Alright, I’m heading for a lesson now. You’ll decide where you want to have the items placed, all right?” Ling Yun told Zhuang Meifeng before rushing out of the house. She did not have an opportunity to hug him, nor bid him goodbye.

“Sigh… He always leaves like this, whenever he wants to…” Zhuang Meifeng sighed.
