Chapter 1280: Supreme Elder
After Vexpela’s announcement, the guests at the venue grew excited and quickly made their way to begin purchasing more Serva Stones.
Since many of them came with a clear budget in mind, a 10% discount count meant that they could potentially purchase a few additional Serva Stones. While the amount was probably only one or two for the majority of them, that was still another chance to gain a rare treasure.
As everyone hurried to find and purchase their Serva Stones, Vexpela approached Izroth.
"Sir Sagarus, allow me to apologize for the disturbance. I knew that one of my siblings would approach you soon; however, I did not think that they would move this quickly." Vexpela said with furrowed brows.
She then continued, "Now that you have clearly rejected his offer, Braxul will see you as a thorn in his side. But, if I am to be honest, Braxul himself is no real threat. The ones you have to keep your eyes out for is his mother and her family. They hold the true power of the Third Pavilion Lord. And, now that I have revealed myself to the public eye, they will not leave me alone either. Of course, I have made preparations as I knew that this day would inevitably come. Shall I assign a few guards to accompany you?"
"That won’t be necessary. Prioritize your own safety. I am confident in taking care of myself." Izroth responded casually.
"If you say so, then I have no choice but to believe you. Nevertheless, please be careful. The Third Pavilion will not let today’s matter rest. They are not against using underhanded tactics to their own benefit." Vexpela said in a meaningful tone.
She added, "Ah, and, of course, please disregard everything that the Third Pavilion Lord said. The Golden Treasure House has no intention of taking the treasures that rightfully belong to you. Your status as a Diamond-Level VIP also remains untouched. I hope this unpleasant experience has not discouraged Sir Sagarus from considering my previous offer. I assume Lead Attendant Pearl has relayed my offer?"
’Oh? So it was her that made that offer, after all. I was planning on leaving it in her hands either way, so this works out well.’
Before Braxul’s interruption, Pearl approached Izroth with an offer given by her superior. The Golden Treasure House would waive the standard 30% handling fee and only take a 10% cut from the items he placed up for auction. This kind of handling fee was considered incredibly generous.
Of course, Izroth could have taken the items to the Mystical Realm Palace and sold them there. However, such a thing would be no different than selling diamonds at a farmer’s market. As unfortunate as it was to compare the Mystical Realm Palace to a farmer’s market, it was the truth of a matter as its main clientele consisted of players.
The simple truth of the matter was that the residents of this world, in particular the noble families, merchant groups and powerful clans, had a level of wealth that players could only dream of.
Even the number one player run establishment, the Mystical Realm Palace, could not rival the revenue of the Golden Treasure House, a mere branch store, let alone an organization like the Golden Dragon Association.
This was one of the reasons why Izroth wanted to establish a presence in not just Danaharpe City, but also the true capital city of Amaharpe. And, if he had someone like Vexpela as his partner with connections to the Golden Dragon Association, it could matter run much smoother when the time came to establish a proper foothold.
In comparison, what was giving some treasures to sell? More importantly, this could also be seen as an opportunity.
"I am willing to entrust you and the Golden Treasure House with placing the items you see fit up for auction. However, I have a few conditions." Izroth started.
"Please feel free to state them." Vexpela commented.
"The Golden Treasure House must purchase all the lower-tier treasures not fit for auction at a fair price. However, what I want is not gold coins, but a trade. The same applies to the items that will be placed up for auction. Gold coins alone will not suffice. If anyone wishes to purchase the item, they must offer something of equivalent or greater value. Of course, I will personally pay the 10% handling fee based on the standard market price of the purchased items. Therefore, the Golden Treasure House will not lose out." Izroth explained.
’Most of the treasures I’ve found so far aren’t that much of use to me. If I can trade them for something that’s beneficial, it won’t be a loss on my part.’
Vexpela placed her fingers to her chin as she took a moment to gather her thoughts.
"I do not see anything wrong with the conditions you have set. The Golden Treasure House stores numerous treasures of varying qualities. Making a fair trade will not pose any issues. As for the auction, it is a bit more complicated since market prices are never set when it comes to items pulled from Serva Stones. That is why I would like to offer an alternative. Instead of the handling fee, how about becoming the Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion?" Vexpela suggested.
"Supreme Elder?" Izroth commented.
"All Pavilions can have up to seven Elders and one Supreme Elder. But, as you know, I have no maternal side to support me and all the talents I have tried to recruit in the past have ended up being taken away by my siblings. As a result, the Elder and Supreme Elder seats of the Fourth Pavilion remain empty. Ah, the Supreme Elder may sound like a lot of work, but you only have to give your input on matters that you deem important. Additionally, you receive several more benefits—one of them being not having to pay handling fees at any of the Golden Dragon Association stores or their affiliate stores. Naturally, I will not restricted your movement in any way." Vexpela stated.
She then continued, "You will also have a say in the assignment of Elders and be able to move the forces Fourth Pavilion on my behalf. I know the current forces of the Fourth Pavilion are practically nonexistent, but... As long as you place your trust in me, I promise you that I will never yield in growing the Fourth Pavilion into something that surpasses that of the Pavilions of my siblings combined."
’Supreme Elder... The conditions are good. Accepting such a position would mean that I am directly tied to Vexpela and the Fourth Pavilion itself. The offer itself isn’t bad.’
"Have you prepared the contract?" Izroth asked.
Vexpela’s eyes lit up as she replied, "Yes, I have taken care of the preparations as needed."
The next moment, Vexpela lightly touched the ring on her finger as a scroll appeared in her hands.
Izroth opened the scroll and looked over the details of the contract. The contract itself was incredibly detailed and did not leave a single stone unturned. However, there were no terms that locked Izroth into being "loyal" as many contracts this kind possessed. In other words, despite the previous bad experiences she had with talents being poached away by her siblings, Vexpela did not resort to harsh contract penalties. Without a doubt, it must have been because she wanted people who truly sided with her, rather than being forced only to later backstab her at the first chance they got.
’Everything appears to be in order. Rather, this kind of contract is heavily written in my favor.’
"This is good enough." Izroth said with a carefree smile as he handed the scroll over to Vexpela.
A perplexed look formed on Vexpela’s face as she asked, "Was there something that Sir Sagarus found unfavorable in the terms?"
Izroth shook his head and said, "No, the conditions you placed in that contract are heavily favored toward me. I have no complaints. But, if we are to be true partners, such a contract is no necessary. Hold on to that contract and allow it to serve as a reminder of what you were willing to offer. From this moment onward, I will become the Supreme Elder of the Fourth Pavilion and help raise it to a level that surpasses that of the other Pavilions. All I need is your word, Fourth Pavilion Lord Vexpela—your word that you will never yield no matter the difficulty of the path that lies ahead. Your word that you will never betray the trust I place in you."
Vexpela eyes widened in shock as she felt her heart tremble. It was the first time in her life someone was willing to place their trust in her in such an immense way. A part of Vexpela was terrified to be given that level of trust, but another part of her could not hide her excitement and determination.
"I, the Fourth Pavilion Lord, greet the Fourth Pavilion Supreme Elder." Vexpela said respectfully as she cupped her hands into her fist.
"I, the Fourth Pavilion Supreme Elder, greet the Fourth Pavilion Lord." Izroth stated as she followed Vexpela’s actions.
He then continued, "I look forward to working with you."
