Chapter 1321: Vile Blood

Chapter 1321: Vile Blood

"Will this suffice?" Leah asked as she kept her eyes closed and maintained her concentration.

’Oh? She can control her mana this well? It seems that Quicksil was not overexaggerating when he said that she long surpassed her peers in magic control.’

For players, they had the system to aid them when it came to magic control and spell casting. However, for the residents of this world, they had to learn magic from the very beginning.

Of course, while both ways definitely had their advantages, there was a reason why the residents of the world often possessed stronger versions of skills than players.

"Your magic control is better than I anticipated. If it’s at this level, then there should be no problem. You can begin channeling your mana into the magic cores." Izroth instructed.

When it came to magic control, there was a simple way to test one’s abilities. Using raw mana, one would compress it to the smallest size while maintaining a stable spherical shape. The smaller the compressed mana while remaining stable, the higher one’s magic control.

The fact that Leah could create such a tiny bead of mana that was difficult to see with one’s eyes—even experienced mages with decades of experience would find it challenging to pull off.

Just as Izroth instructed, Leah carefully controlled her mana and placed a small amount within each of the magic cores that surrounded the bed. As she performed this action, the magic cores began to emit a faint light.

’Since she’s doing her part so diligently, it’s time I do my part as well.’

Izroth locked his gaze onto Lady Harpe with his Energy Vision Sense still active.

At first, there were not any noticeable changes that took place. However, after Leah placed her mana into a little over 60% of the magic cores, Izroth’s gaze narrowed as his eyes seemed to dart toward Lady Harpe’s stomach.

’Was I mistaken?’

For what seemed like infinitely close to an instant, Izroth saw a familiar murky miasma-like substance shift around inside of Lady Harpe with his Energy Vision Sense. However, given the origins of that murky substance, Izroth thought that it could have been something similar but different. That being said, it was not as if the substance he saw could be easily mimicked. In fact, given the uniqueness of its existence, it was virtually impossible to duplicate.

When Leah completed inserting her mana into around 75% of the magic cores, the strange substance appeared again. This time, however, it did not immediately go into hiding. Instead, it lingered at the center of Lady Harpe’s stomach.

As Izroth witnessed this sight, his expression turned serious as he furrowed his brows.

’There’s no mistaking it. There’s only one other place I’ve seen this kind of substance—the Shadahi Realm. But, this doesn’t make any sense. How did the blood of a shadahi end up invading her body?’

Izroth had treated the likes of Nova. He had also seen what a shadahi’s infection could do to a person over a long period of time due to his interactions with Gear. However, both of those situations were caused by wounds inflicted by a shadahi. It had nothing to do with a shadahi’s blood being in their system.

’The blood seems to have a will of its own, but lacks a consciousness. It’s almost as if it’s moving on pure instinct. If that’s the case, it should be much easier to deal with. But, with this discovery, I’m even more curious to hear what took place on the day she was attacked. A shadahi stepping foot into a place like Danaharpe while avoiding detection is nearly impossible. I can’t completely count out that possibility, but... Well, let’s hope she has the answers I’m looking for.’

A few moments later, Leah finished filling the last of the magic cores with her mana. After doing so, Leah relaxed a bit as a look of exhaustion quickly formed on her face. She still had to maintain her mana within the magic cores; however, that part was much easier to manage than continuously condensing and releasing her mana.

"You did well. Continue to maintain your mana and leave the rest to me. Remember, no matter what happens, do not lose your connection to the magic cores. I will guarantee your safety." Izroth stated calmly.

Leah gave a small nod. While she did not know what kind of danger Izroth expected to face, Leah was able to sense a dark presence in Lady Harpe that made her skin crawl. However, as a mage, her curiosity far outweighed the potentially danger.

The shadahi blood within Lady Harpe grew increasingly restless. If one had to describe its current state, it was as if it were a beast salivating at a feast that had been laid out before it. But, its instincts were telling it to proceed with caution.

Unfortunately for this particular "beast", the feast placed in front of it was too tempting to resist for long.

Swoosh!

In the blink of an eye, a dark and murky substance shot out from Lady Harpe’s stomach toward the magic cores!

Simultaneously, Izroth unsheathed his Sword of the Storm as a powerful sword intent spread throughout the room.

’Tenth Sword Form: Life Closing Raze.’

The sword intent from Izroth’s tenth sword form washed over the shadahi’s blood. And, the moment it came into contact with the substance, the blood started to rapidly disintegrate.

Then, with his other hand, a strong pulling force in the form of an invisible vortex appeared at the center of Izroth’s palm as he used Supreme Cosmic Seizing Vortex. This caused the disintegrating shadahi blood to be drawn toward his palm.

Right after using Supreme Cosmic Seizing Vortex, a rippling effect materialized in the surrounding that started with Izroth at its source as he executed the Ninth Sword Form: World Quelling Ripple.

When the ripple came into contact with the shadahi blood, it caused the already disintegrating and weakened blood to turn into nothingness.

Izroth lowered his hand and returned his Sword of the Storm to its sheath.

Izroth first used the Tenth Sword Form: Life Closing Raze to erase any potential defensive measures the shadahi blood may have had hidden. He then used the Supreme Cosmic Seizing Vortex to lock down its movement and give it no breathing room for escape. Finally, Izroth used his Ninth Sword Form: World Quelling Ripple, which destroyed any incoming projectiles that entered its effectiveness range.

Although his approach might have been a bit excessive, Izroth did not want to risk any chances when it came to something that involved the shadahi. If he failed to eradicate it in one go, there was a possibility that the blood itself would adapt. If that happened, there was no telling what kind of chaos would follow.

"You can stop channeling your mana and relax now." Izroth said as he looked over at Leah with a carefree smile.

Izroth moved toward the head of the bed and removed a pill from his inventory. Followed by a small vial.

"This will help to expel any lingering negative side effects from Lady Harpe’s body and restore her life energy. She should awaken soon. When she does, it would help for her to see a familiar face." Izroth said as he placed the pill into Lady Harpe’s mouth.

Since the pills dissolved once inside one’s mouth, there was no issues giving it to someone unconscious.

As for what pill Izroth gave Lady Harpe, it was the Hundred Death Poisoning Pill. While the shadahi blood may not be poison, there was always a chance of hidden dangers being present after the attacked she suffered.

Leah immediately understood Izroth’s intentions and used the communication orb next to the bed to contact Quicksil.

Izroth then carefully tilted the vial over Lady Harpe’s lips until a single drop of liquid fell between her lips. The moment he did so, a strong air of life filled Lady Harpe.

Izroth used the Liquid of Renewal to aid in Lady Harpe’s swift recovery and as a secondary measure of purifying any negative effects that lingered within her body.

Under normal circumstances, it was best to dilute the Liquid of Renewal due to its great potency. But, since Izroth had given Lady Harpe a Hundred Death Poisoning Pill beforehand, the potency should no pose a problem.

Not even a full breath after Leah contacted Quicksil, the doors to the room swung open as quickened footsteps hurried over.

"Supreme Elder Izroth, Lady Harpe, is it true? Have you succeeded in curing her?" Quicksil said half-anxiously, half-eagerly.

Izroth gave a small nod and said, "I’ve managed to remove the source of her troubles and stabilized her condition. That said, it’s best that she takes it easy for the next few days after she awakens."

Hearing those words, Quicksil’s expression changed to one of relief. It was as if the weight of the world had been lifted off his shoulders.

"Supreme Elder Izroth, on behalf of the Kroma Family, I thank you for your aid in saving Lady Harpe. I, and the Kroma Family, will never forget this great debt." Quicksil said sincerely as he placed his hand over his chest and gave a slight bow.
