Chapter 1311: Void Power
Yi Tianyun sat where he was, meditating and absorbing the Illusory Metal Power. It wasn’t particularly difficult, actually rather simple. Under his frenzied absorption, his body quickly filled with Illusory Metal Power, which flowed throughout his physique.
His entire form began to glow faintly gold, but this was not the same as condensing a core, he was merely storing it within his body, converting it for his own use. If he wanted to condense it into a core, that would be far more complicated. Typically, one would absorb a core directly, that was the fastest way to make it one’s own.
Right now, Yi Tianyun wasn’t forming a core; he just wanted to absorb the energy for personal use, imbuing his constitution with Illusory Metal Power.
Just as he was about to continue, a ripple appeared at his side. He opened his eyes and revealed a mischievous grin.
In a flash, his figure disappeared into the void! Not a single crack remained in the air, everything looking perfectly normal. Immediately after, a graceful silhouette appeared, none other than Domain Lord Liuli.
Seeing her emerge, she looked energized and showed no signs of harm. Arriving in this area, she scanned her surroundings briefly, even glancing in Yi Tianyun’s direction, yet she didn’t notice anything unusual.
He was right in front of her, not moving at all. Inside the void, it was like being separated by a layer of water. He could see what was happening outside, but nothing inside had changed. Essentially, it was a special safety channel!
For instance, if it were windy or rainy outside, in the void there was no wind or rain. Even certain special attacks could be avoided. Though some attacks could still penetrate if they were powerful enough to tear through the void, then you’d have nowhere to hide.
“She really can’t detect me at all.”
Yi Tianyun’s eyes gleamed. Even at level one, his ability prevented someone on the half-step Heavenly Venerable level from spotting him?
Of course, part of it was that he wasn’t moving. Without motion, his aura didn’t fluctuate, so she had no cause for alarm.
Domain Lord Liuli, having confirmed her surroundings, sat down to meditate as though pondering something. She looked back at the exit behind her a couple of times, but soon she stopped and continued sitting quietly.
Yi Tianyun in the void chuckled inwardly. Apparently, she’d sensed some disturbance but, unable to detect anything with her spiritual sense, dismissed it as an illusion.
He then tried stepping forward a few paces. The moment he moved, Domain Lord Liuli abruptly opened her eyes and stared fixedly in his direction, clearly sensing a strange ripple.
Though he had suppressed his aura, movement inevitably caused a disturbance, especially against a half-step Heavenly Venerable. Without a higher level in his Void Bloodline, he’d still be detected.
So Yi Tianyun promptly stopped, remaining still.
Domain Lord Liuli looked doubtful at that spot. After a moment, she found nothing and simply shut her eyes again, apparently deciding it had been her imagination.
He grinned to himself and then took a few more steps. Suddenly, Domain Lord Liuli lashed out right at him, her blue ribbon streaked straight through Yi Tianyun’s position. In reality, it only passed by him, failing to touch him. After all, he was inside the void rather than outside it.
When her strike failed to meet any target, she muttered in confusion:
“Strange, was it my imagination?”
She didn’t stop but kept her gaze locked on the area where Yi Tianyun stood. After a moment, she fiercely flung out her blue ribbon once more, turning it into a spear-like weapon that pierced that spot.
Boom!
The void itself was directly punctured, the attack truly aimed at Yi Tianyun. At that instant, his eyes flashed coldly, and he dodged to the side, stepping out of the void in a single leap.
“Sister Liuli, wait, wait, it’s me, it’s me!”
He emerged with a laugh.
Seeing him, Domain Lord Liuli lit up in mixed surprise and delight.
“Why, you little…you scared me! So you’ve already passed? Here I was worrying about you, and it turns out you were playing with me!”
“Ahem, I was just teasing you a bit, I didn’t mean anything else,” Yi Tianyun said, smiling wryly.
“Didn’t mean anything else? Do you know how worried I was?” She glared at him.
“Um…Sister Liuli, I…I didn’t do it on purpose…” Yi Tianyun scratched his head in embarrassment, at a loss for words.
“Pfft…” Domain Lord Liuli giggled. “Alright, I’ll let it go this time. That’ll teach you not to scare me again!” She cast him a playful look. “By the way, what was that technique you used just now, slipping into the void? It reminds me of the Void Spirit. They can enter the void at will. I’m amazed you have the same ability.”
“It’s not a martial art. I gained the Void Spirit’s power, letting me step into the void,” Yi Tianyun answered with a laugh.
“You obtained the Void Spirit’s ability?” she exclaimed, clasping a hand over her mouth in shock. “Was that…your reward for passing the trial?”
“You could say that.” No way could he claim it had dropped after killing the Void Spirit. Calling it a prize from the tower was more believable.
“That’s quite an astounding reward. How did you manage that? Weren’t we told fewer beads meant worse prizes?” Domain Lord Liuli shook her head.
Yi Tianyun explained the situation, and when she heard it, she was astonished.
“So that’s how it is… They tricked us! That explains why my reward seems mediocre, only a mid-grade Heavenly Dao technique. I assumed you’d need eight or nine beads for something higher. In fact, the fewer beads, the better the treasure. Well, at least my difficulty wasn’t that great. I got through it fairly easily.”
“Yes, we’ve all been fooled,” Yi Tianyun said, shrugging in exasperation.
Right then, the Venerable Spirit suddenly appeared, smiling as he said, “Congratulations on completing your trial. Since you passed with seven beads, to be considered for direct discipleship, you must clear two more stages.”
Yi Tianyun narrowed his eyes. As expected, it was all a setup: Domain Lord Liuli needed two further challenges to qualify. Meanwhile, he only had to cultivate the third layer to be chosen, a stark difference indeed.
“Two more stages?” She frowned.
“Correct. Two stages. As to what they entail, just keep going forward and you’ll find out,” the Venerable Spirit replied, then glanced at Yi Tianyun. “However, you cannot participate in them. You may go to the same area, but you’ll be placed in a separate space. You cannot interfere or offer help.”
His words dashed any hope Yi Tianyun had of traveling with her. At best, he could only observe from a distance.
