Chapter 2080: Against the Tides of Orcs -Part 2
"I am on my last magazine!" One of the Star Foxes said as he felt that he was already past his own magical limits but Kraft still did not allow the utilisation of the emergency mana boosters. The Star Foxes thought that the Devil Fox did now about it but in the heat of battle, he warned everyone not to even touch it unless he gave the permission to do so.
"I'm out too!" Another Star Fox said and it was pretty obvious that the group was at their last legs. They might have gone with a bang at the start of the battle but the sheer numbers were just something that they could not compete against. Arrows flew from all directions in an attempt to kill the targets while the frontliners used brute force to hamper their shields.
Some of them did evasive manoeuvres but they never expected the Orcs to be strong and fast enough to catch up on them, forcing a few to go into close combat fights.
It was not that these Star Foxes were weak against close combat fights, in fact, most if not all of them were vicious with a weapon at hand. Their swords were enhanced with magic and their body forcibly reinforced with magic constantly to provide the killing blow against the Dune Shell Orcs. Your next chapter is on
But the problem was that not all the Orcs were of the same calibre. There was a basic level of competency among these Orcs mainly due to the fact that wearing a 'shell' from the dunes had already shown that one was strong enough to have such a title.
So, the Star Foxes were all fighting with competent warriors compared to mere rank and file kind of monsters and after a period of time, the Star Foxes do get tired. They were killing dozens of competent warriors within minutes and with no rest.
It was bloody obvious that the Star Foxes were already running on fumes and if Kraft did not let them retreat or use the emergency mana booster, they might actually result in losses.
"Not yet." Kraft continue to say that as he continued to observe the situation and kill Dune Shell Orcs that came towards him. Each time they did, a different type of attack came out of No Mercy. From beams of laser to homing bullets which scattered explosions among their ranks. "We still can hold on.
Don't you dare die on me or else I will make sure you do not have a good rest in death." Kraft shouted and the Star Foxes did not dare to disobey their superior.
Thus, they gritted and continue to fight to the best of their abilities. It was to the point they started to use forbidden magic which was not allowed in Ress. Necromancy and Curse Blood magic. There was no use pretending to be the 'I'm a changed person. A brand new life, brand new mage' kind of person any longer.
They finally caved into the stress of surviving even though they had been trained throughout Kraft's regime to only use 'good' magic. Dead Orcs finally came to life and starting to be the shield for the Star Foxes Mages while others used blood magic to regain their powers and boy, it felt good to the Star Foxes.
The vitality of those fallen Orcs were of good quality and it is undoubtedly true because of their ranks. From A to S+, the blood they took in to convert to mana was immensely rich and this gave them the boost needed to continue.
In the meantime, Cursed Spirit Magic was also used among the Star Foxes as the souls of the fallen were harvested to create S Ranks Spirits capable of dominating the battlefield against the Dune Shell Orcs.
With such forbidden magic being used within the fray, Kraft smiled. Because of the guise of 'good decent magic', they had managed to push their manipulation of magic to their current fullest potential. Thus, when they subsequently fall to rely on these forbidden magic, the effects were double -no, multiple fold!
This was what Kraft wants from his Foxes. Under the pressure and stress, the desperation to survive made them even stronger and that was also the reason why he named them as such. No one bothered about the stars as they were numerous for the human to discern. But each of them tried to burn as brightly as possible to gain recognition regardless of the methods.
And to do those notice them will then learn of the struggles they make to stand out in darkness.
Whether people acknowledge them or not, it's a different issue entirely but what Kraft know is that this is where the Star Foxes truly shine as they used all the forbidden magic that they had to possess to temporarily this tide of battle.
Yes, temporary. Even though it might looked like they could gain a never ending of mana through blood magic techniques while deploying necromancy and spirit magic, their body still had a limit and it was only when they reach such limits, Kraft would signal the retreat.
Simultaneously as Kraft enjoyed the transformation of his Star Foxes to the next level, he too needed to show his minions that their leader was nothing to snuff at either. And what he did was using a combination of blood, necromancy and spirit magic together to instantly create a literal blob of unhinged looking mass in the middle of the battlefield.
At that point, Hell Elite Orcs were starting to be field into the battle and their presence will undoubtedly push the fight for attrition to their favour once more. But that was also were the unhinge blob of mass were to come in.
Most could see that it was a threat and the Hell Elite Orcs used their powers from Hell to summon fiery arrows and magical bolts to destroy the blob of mass. "Oh, so those Hell Elite Orcs can use magic to a certain extent!
No wonder they were consider the last batch of reinforcements coming in- well, aside from the main scaredy cat of a big boss." Kraft said as the blob spew blood from the fiery attacks and despite it burning, it continued to remain on the battlefield.
At that moment, the Dune Shell Orcs and perhaps even some of the Hell Elite Orcs felt that dread remained as a word in their dictionary.
