Chapter 2000: Falling Apart
The Mandate Emperor's energy surged. He appeared calm and steady in the face of the Inferno Wave Ox that looked furious, its crimson eyes and purplish-red flames making it look like it was born out of the legendary purgatory world.
It was just about to ram into the Mandate Emperor when a whirlwind of greyish-black death energy enveloped its huge body, causing its horn's purplish-red flames to fluctuate heavily.
*Bang!*
The purple flames exploded as the ox came to a forceful halt, trying to burn the death energy as its eyes were full of panic. However, it was unable to burn no matter how hard it tried. The purplish-red flames increasingly decreased as the death energy closed in.
However, a spatial wave emerged and struck their location, absorbing all the death energy before they were thrown out into the void, neatly without creating spatial cracks.
Davis turned to look at the Obsidian Crystal Turtle. It possessed some unique features he could faintly sense at a glance, but since he hadn't seen a normal Obsidian Crystal Turtle, he didn't know what was so unique about it other than feeling the aura of King-Tier.
It was the one who took out his death energy at this moment.
"Didn't I say to stop the fight? Myria, control your pets-"
"Bastard! Die!"
Davis spoke with an exasperated expression on his face when the Inferno Wave Ox appeared behind him, its mouth agape with razor-sharp teeth aligned in its mouth, wanting to swallow him whole.
"Halt!"
An immense surge of mandate energy formed a resonance with the heaven and earth energy at this moment, causing the Inferno Wave Ox to become stuck. Its crimson eyes bulged, making it wonder why it was unable to move as it struggled.
Davis's hand had surged with death energy, gathering at his finger point to unleash his Death Ray but he changed his mind and waved his hand once, dispersing it before flicking his arm behind, the back of his hand coming into contact with a big face.
*Paah!~*
A resounding slap echoed as the Inferno Wave Ox was sent flying from the impact, causing countless eyes to widen in shock as they couldn't believe what they had just witnessed.
However, Myria's brows narrowed.
She could see that with the Mandate Emperor restraining the Inferno Wave Ox, it was actually saved from Davis's terrifying attack that had gathered on his fingertip. Nonetheless, there wasn't a change of expression for its ox pet being slapped away.
Instead, she finally opened her lips.
"Gorox, stay your hand."
The Inferno Wave Ox's eyes had turned berserk due to its rage, but when that voice echoed, it was as though a river was splashed on its body.
"But master-"
"I said, stay your hand. The same goes for every one of you."
Myria coldly spoke before she looked at the other four magical beasts.
The five magical beasts all looked confused. This whole scenario looked as if their master was being attacked, so why were they called? Just to intimidate?
It can't be. They knew how ruthless their master was to easily let go of this matter. If it was truly just to intimidate the humans, such usage of them made them blink in annoyance, but they didn't dare to make a fuss.
"There's no invasion of any sort, nor am I plotting anything vile."
Myria's nonchalant voice echoed as she raised her hand, pointing towards the Mandate Emperor.
"Instead, I want his life for displaying hostility towards me."
The Mandate Emperor's pupils fiercely shrunk.
However, Davis shook his head.
"For better or worse, the Mandate Emperor is my little sister's teacher. I understand your rage, but I can't let you harm him, the same way I can't let him harm you."
"Then we're not in agreement. When not in agreement, I prefer to do things my way."
Myria's voice contained a trace of disappointment. Her body moved, nearing the Mandate Emperor as she was almost about to pass Davis like a phantom when he suddenly spoke.
"How about this? You defeat me in our battle, and you get to do whatever you want."
Davis didn't turn his head, but his words caused Myria to stop, her body turning to look at him.
"Fine, but there's a toll."
"What toll?" Davis turned to look at her, his brows furrowing when he saw the murderous glint in her eyes.
"Xiaolan."
Myria's voice echoed when the Ice Phoenix suddenly flapped its wings once, causing icy-blue wisps to burst out, shooting towards a few people with immense speed.
The Grand Elders from the Heaven Mandate Temple, Heaven Gazing Sect, Astral Light Sect, and the Vast Sky Emperor Palace fell at this moment without making a sound.
It happened so fast that the people became stunned as they saw four burning corpses plunging towards the ground.
Each one of the Four Great Righteous Sects suffered a loss of a Grand Elder at this moment as they burst into icy-blue flames, this abrupt happening leaving the Mandate Emperor, who just sighed from the situation deflating to having his expression turned ugly.
"You!"
*Roar!~*
The Obsidian Crystal Turtle roared at the Mandate Emperor, causing him to be dumbstruck by the sheer energy of the shout, the spatial waves causing his ears to ring heavily and making him feel dizzy. The others felt even worse, closing their ears to protect themselves.
Fortunately, since it was directed at the three Emperors, it didn't cause any major injuries to the others, but that magical beast roar embedded a type of fear in them. If it was just the Obsidian Crystal Turtle, they wouldn't be so afraid, but there was also the Ice Phoenix, not to mention the Emperor of Death, who didn't seem to be not on both sides.
"Well then, let's go."
Myria remained nonchalant about the deaths of the four Grand Elders and started hovering back to the Obsidian Crystal Turtle.
"Emperor of Death, we can't leave it like this! Not only must we obtain the source to unravel the Calamity Light, but we must obtain justice for their unjust deaths."
Davis looked at the Mandate Emperor with cold eyes, wondering if he should kill him for trying to capture his Ellia.
Those sapphire eyes of Davis abruptly turned pitch-black as a layer of death energy covered them, the sight of it causing the three Emperors to become stunned. It didn't take them much to recognize that gaze meant that he would no longer stay neutral if they were to speak another word again.
Davis's eyes flickered to normalcy as he looked away.
Things could still be pushed aside as a misunderstanding if they didn't fully make a move against Myria but first asked, but after they trapped her and tried to hurt her in order to capture her or kill her, it was a given that they must pay the price.
He felt that Myria was merciful in this regard, maybe because he asked her or Ellia told her. Either way, he was thankful that this matter didn't escalate.
Otherwise, those who will be dying were the innocent people who had nothing to do with this matter but were caught in the crossfire.
In the end, he didn't say anything and followed Myria, giving the command to Evelynn, telling her to take the others and return to the Alstreim Family through soul transmission. Simultaneously, he had Lea take back Clara and Tia as well.
"Davis, will you be fine?"
Evelynn's soul transmission fell on his mind after she made the preparations to leave.
"Don't worry. Even if I lose, I won't die."
"At least, take Nadia. Her doppelganger is already guarding the Alstreim Family."
Hearing Evelynn's tone full of worry, Davis sighed inwardly before agreeing with her. If he went alone, she would probably come charging through.
Evelynn was confident of Davis. However, with Myria having so many trump cards, she felt that it was a given that one should stay wary against her countless means. She wanted to go with Davis, but she had to protect her sisters in this junction. Separating means giving their enemies a reason to pick them apart.
Evelynn was aware that's how most families with close relationships fell.
Davis followed Myria. The Obsidian Crystal Turtle opened a wide spatial vortex at this moment, allowing them entry as it stood to the side.
Simultaneously, Nadia arrived beside Davis at this moment, her majestic purple eyes striking fear into the hearts of the magical beasts.
What kind of magical beast was this? So small yet terrifying.
Nadia also got a closer look at the magical beasts who aligned themselves beside Myria.
At this moment, the Ice Phoenix also appeared beside Myria, its graceful eyes possessing a solemn look as it matched gazes with Nadia.
"Xiaolan, let's go."
Once Myria's voice fell, the Ice Phoenix took its gaze away, turned into a ray of blue light, and returned to Myria's soul sea. She stepped onto the spatial vortex, leaving the place.
Seeing this scene, the other magical beasts looked envious.
On the other hand, Nadia snorted with a disdainful grin before finally stepping inside the spatial vortex with Davis and leaving the New Era Battle Arena.
As for everyone else, they could only look stunned by this outcome.
The five magical beasts remained, having received commands to protect the Mystic Ice Sect maidens from the other humans no matter the cost.
The Alstreim Family and its subordinates left. The Mystic Ice Sect maidens also naturally left, no longer staying as they possessed the protection of the five magical beast hegemons.
Once the Mandate Emperor figured out their intentions, he no longer bothered with them. He looked at the destruction they all caused in the surroundings and finally the four specks of ashes on the ground before he belatedly sighed.
Did he make a mistake?
No matter how he thought, they were cornered into a disadvantageous position, and judging by how the Emperor of Death was treating Myria so warily, he could feel that they had possibly escaped death, but still, if he felt that he could give up his life to counter the Calamity Light, it was a small price to pay.
However, with the way those two supreme geniuses were acting, it was as if they would never allow him to witness some secrets.
Making up his mind, the Mandate Emperor raised his head.
"Everyone, please disperse. The Nine Western Territories Young Expert Competition has finally come to an abrupt end, so there's no need to remain here."
"…!?"
The people couldn't help but shudder at this announcement, wondering what the future had in store for them since they couldn't stop the source.. Their eyes were bleak, the blind trust and belief in their leaders slowly dropping like a melting bar of ice.
