Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2122: Enraged Tribulation

Chapter 2122: Enraged Tribulation

Heaven and earth shook as though the world was going to end.

Davis felt his body tremble underneath the heavenly flame dragon that took shape beneath the clouds, looking at him with sentient eyes. It was as though the heavens had locked onto him, causing his scalp to turn numb while his spine almost turned paralyzed.

He couldn’t believe the dread it projected unto him, causing him to narrow his eyes in trepidation as his dragon blood boiled and his heartbeat quickened.

‘Now I know why Eldia feared this heavenly tribulation so much…’

In the distance, he sensed Eldia fainting, which made him surprised because he rarely saw spirits lose consciousness, but that told him volumes of the dread that this terrifying heavenly flame dragon inflicted. His sapphire eyes reflected the crimson of its figure, seemingly born to destroy anything in its path, turning them to ashes.

Unlike the heavenly lightning that at least aided people after their tribulation, the destructive heavenly lightning held no such properties, mostly or even purely destructive. However, on the other hand, he figured that the heavenly flames were born to purge the sins of the evil, or what the heavens considered evil. And now, destructive heavenly flames that were even more lethal were born to completely erase him exuded an extreme destructive intent that caused the lives below it to shudder, unable to keep themselves afloat, similar to how Eldia fainted.

*Hiss!~*

Taking a deep breath, Davis stabilized his palpitating heart. His energy that became tumultuous from the pressure regained its stability, but it was still like a quiet storm, waiting for the dragon to descend.

Davis raised his hands and kept his palm enclosed.

“Now, come!”

Strangely enough, the heavenly flame dragon didn’t protect the three-second rule between the tribulation strikes. Instead, its dark crimson eyes flashed at the ninth second before it descended like lightning, its dragon body swirling around as it plunged towards him.

Davis separated his palms and when he did so, appeared a black-silver rune crackled with extremely condensed might. The lines it was made up of to become a rune were etched from heavenly lightning, making it appear terrifying to any opponent who knew the terror of the heavens.

*Aoooo!~~~*

However, the opponent could be said to be the heavens themselves, not afraid of his terrifying prowess. The heavenly flame dragon descended with a gigantic and lofty might, twisting and churning the skies themselves as space distorted from the heat as though it had surpassed the stabilization effect of the heavenly tribulation.

Davis sent his mutated Supreme Immortal Lightning Rune upwards when it clashed with the heavenly flame dragon without suspense.

However, there wasn’t an explosion of any sort, but a silent, grim atmosphere took hold and completely pressurized the Dark Thunder Island, causing it to collapse while Davis was engulfed in an overwhelming light. However, he was still able to maneuver with heavenly lightning and life energy covering his body, streaking through the destructive area as he appeared beside the heavenly flame dragon that was interlocked with his mutated Supreme Immortal Lightning Rune.

“How is it? With the enduring and destructive property of extinction lightning and the lethality and loftiness of the heavenly lightning, even you cannot escape from its hellish might, huh?”

Davis grinned as a spear of heavenly lightning formed between his right palm, causing him to send it flying.

*Puchi!~*

*Aoooooo!!!~~~*

The heavenly lightning spear pierced through the heavenly flame dragon, causing it to unleash a roar of rage and pain directed at Davis. It appeared like it wanted to swallow him whole and turn him into ashes as it flailed, but unfortunately, like prey that was stuck in a spider web, it was unable to leave the terrifying and everlasting mutated Supreme Immortal Rune.

At the same time, soul force surged out from Davis’s body in tidal waves as they turned into life energy. With the Emperor Sigil and his current Peak-Level Emperor Soul Stage, his prowess barely entered the ninth level of the Ninth Stage, but with the heavenly flame dragon having drastically weakened, he calculated it would follow the same fate as its predecessors.

As the gentle and soothing life energy engulfed the heavenly flame dragon while the heavenly lightning spear wrecked inside its body while being held back by the mutated Supreme Immortal Rune, the heavenly flame dragon cast a final look at Davis, its dark crimson eyes blazing with fury before the light in its eyes slowly disappeared, its body becoming tamed before brought to refinement.

*Rumble!~*

The heavenly tribulation raged that he was plundering again. However, no matter how it angrily roared, it started to disperse. However, looking at it disperse, Davis, who had his brief moment of happiness, exuded immense annoyance.

“Shitty heavens! Are you fleeing from your grandpa already!?”

*Rumble!~*

The dark crimson tribulation clouds raged, slowing down ever so lightly. Looking at this phenomenon, Davis smiled in satisfaction, intending to make it stay a bit longer so that he could refine the wisps of heavenly flames before they could break the space after the tribulation clouds left.

He took a deep breath and shouted atop of his lungs.

“You, my grandson, don’t have any gifts anymore? How unfilial can you be!?”

*Rumble!!~*

Lightning and flames crackled within the tribulation clouds as they surged with immense pressure, causing Davis to gulp. It won’t attack him, right?

Previously, he did the same thing, and it didn’t attack him. Feeling emboldened, he opened his mouth wide again.

“Irresponsible grandson! I swear-“

Davis screamed when he suddenly moved aside.

*Puchi!~*

An arm flew along with the shoulder blade, causing blood to spurt heavily from Davis’s body. In his face, what was etched wasn’t pain but disbelief, recalling the moment just now when he saw a vague green blade rush past him.

Was that just the wind…? Or…

“Heavenly wind…?”

Davis couldn’t help suck in a breath of cold air as he saw the tribulation clouds completely disperse, swiftly turning to look at the heavenly flame wisps that needed to be urgently refined and sealed inside Tyriele.

Fortunately, delaying the tribulation clouds for an entire minute allowed him to refine them all more than seventy percent, and with Fallen Heaven’s life energy surging out once the heavenly tribulation left and space started losing its stability, the process became quicker before he summoned Tyriele and sealed them off.

However, Davis couldn’t help but feel that there was a peculiar strangeness to the delicate wisp refined from the heavenly flame dragon. Nonetheless, his thoughts were on the light green blade that severed his left arm, including the shoulder. If he had been a bit late in dodging, perhaps, his body would’ve been split from the forehead, causing him to die a swift death like he was always worried about.

‘Okay, the third time’s the limit…’

Davis noted this point for future cursing sessions, and considering that no one would be courting death by cursing the heavenly tribulation, much less three times, he understood why there were no records about this matter. Moreover, this was a Destructive Heavenly Flame Tribulation with slightly different rules, triggered upon noticing him breaking the set limit, so it was possible that no one encountered this situation before or ended up dead upon encountering it alone, becoming the reason for heavenly wind remaining unknown for millions of years.

After all, even he with a cause for hatred against it would not do something so foolish if it were not for the space stabilizing effect and the suppression over the laws of this world the heavenly tribulation possessed.

Nonetheless, looking below, he noticed that the core region of the Dark Thunder Island was gone.

The land split apart, falling into the raging ocean while crevices over the island were as many as the stars, seemingly on the verge of splitting apart till the entire Dark Thunder Island came down crumbling. However, the land stopped shattering between the inner region and the core region, its remnants crashing into the sea, but the dark thunder clouds above no longer possessed the trait of extinction lightning in the core region, sunlight falling in between for the first time in a million years.

Davis basked in that sunlight, seemingly relieved. As for Eldia, his soul force had already captured her from falling into the raging ocean.

Otherwise, she might’ve sunk and disappeared into the ocean’s depths, although she wouldn’t die with her strength.

He brought her towards him and took her into his arm as he piggy-backed her, wondering if she would be said since her homeland was part-destroyed by his actions of courting death before moving towards another island along with Tyriele.
