Chapter 4624: Luminous Rage’s Gathering
Looking at the number of corpses circled around him, none of the Davis Family members were shocked. They knew he absorbed soul essences to cultivate. It wasn’t any big secret ever since Vereina showed up.
Even without him having to say anything, they could make the connection.
The only thing they were unable to make a connection with was how he was absorbing these souls without alerting anyone. Their senses simply didn’t pick up any anomalies when he absorbed the soul essences as though he had preemptively cast concealment on them.
If it was Vereina, they could directly see her doing it, but it wasn’t the same for Davis.
Nonetheless, there was one person among them who wasn’t used to it.
It was none other than Dewzai.
She felt like she had chanced upon an evil sect’s ritual. If it weren’t for the messy way the corpses were aligned without any sense of structure and geomancy that one would use to construct formations, and the fact that these people were scummy, she would’ve really thought that the Divine Emperor of Death was sacrificing these souls or worshiping some kind of evil entity.
The fear of the Divine Emperor of Death she had shelved nearly surfaced again.
Davis stood up, patted his robe, and stretched. He felt a bit dirty since this region made one sweat easily, and focusing on refining the soul essences while dealing with the memories of these individuals took more toll on him than he expected.
Other than the comprehension clouds, he needed to bring his comprehension of other Laws to the Immortal Emperor-level; he discarded everything else.
Absorbing the comprehension of others wasn’t necessarily good. It would mostly end up causing them to doubt their own findings and then later supplement them with further wrong insights obtained from a wrong pursuit.
Davis chuckled, "Let me take a bath, and we’ll be on our way."
"Alright," Isabella nodded.
On the other hand, Davis noticed Shirley, who was standing way behind. She looked at him sulkily, her gaze darting as though she were wronged.
Davis walked towards her and appeared in front of her. He held his hand, whispering softy, "I know my wrongs. Will you forgive me?"
Shirley pouted, staying silent for a moment before she unwittingly smiled as she cast a gaze with her lovely eyes, "I’m not really mad. I know the difficulty of raising your soul’s prowess, so I will rather wait for years than disturb you. It’s just... I thought we were dancing, and then you disappeared."
Davis chuckled, "We can still dance if you want."
"I do. We’ll play tag now. Catch me if you can~ Hehe~"
Shirley turned around and fled as she enticed him with her movements, causing Davis to be speechless.
His cheeks nearly turned red from the gazes he was enduring, making him want to remind Shirley that this wasn’t their mansion back home to be engaged in such leisurely romance or even debauchery.
His thick face, forged from years of romancing many ladies, could only endure so much embarrassment outside.
He coughed lightly and turned to look back, "Is Niera still in seclusion?"
"Yes," Tia answered, "I divined she will exit seclusion in two or four days. Elder sister Myria would bring her back."
Davis paused, wanting to admonish Tia, but he remembered he gave her permission to divine as long as she knew that it wouldn’t affect her badly.
He nodded and left to refresh himself in some secluded area nearby.
When he came back, the corpses were already cleared, and they set out.
"Find anything interesting these days?" He asked in passing as he sailed the flying boat ahead towards the aforementioned gathering of the geniuses.
"Not really." Isabella shrugged, ’Other than you turning over the hunting landscape overnight, no...’
Inwardly, she didn’t say anything as she smirked with pride.
Davis nodded and didn’t cast his gaze back to talk with others. He felt a searing gaze from Flamerose, but from Frostrose, it was extremely complicated. He could feel his romantic life taking a new turn if he were to interact with them, so he remained silent.
He knew Shirley might’ve figured their feelings out since they shared an equal beast pact. However, Shirley was chasing after her own feelings of romance, not even boarding their boat as she used her own flying boat, traversing side by side.
His flying boat had just passed through a steamy fog region when he saw Shirley’s boat appear from the other side.
She threw a flying kiss at him before hurriedly moving away, causing Davis to smile at her antics. Her actions were like role-playing, an appetizer before the main dish. It made him increasingly expectant of when he could make love to her.
Nonetheless, the closer they got to the gathering, the more flying ships appeared in the vicinity, causing Shirley to have no choice but to let go of her flying boat and board their ship. It wasn’t because she felt endangered, but naturally because she also felt embarrassed to romance with Davis in front of outsiders.
However, she didn’t feel dejected, knowing there were plenty of chances to dance more!
She loved this feeling of only having him in her eyes and vice versa, as she could feel Davis trying to keep his temperance instead of getting it out with Isabella. Whenever she passed by him, she could feel the yang in his body boil, wanting to find an outlet. She was aware she was enticing him with fervor, wanting him to explode with love and impatience over her as he corners her and takes her.
"Mhmmm~" Shirley bit her lips as she squealed, making the others speechless.
Who knew what was going on in her mind?
Only Flamerose and Frostrose blushed as they felt that Shirley’s love for Davis exceeded their expectations. This woman, who led them here with a warrior-like disposition, now turned into a hopeless woman, also embarrassing them.
Soon, the flying boat pierced through a veil of mist, and the scenery unfolded into a vast brilliance that extended from the west to the east. At the center of a barren land, a sprawling palace of crystalline ice floated above an artificial frozen lake contained within the basin-like landscape, radiating a serene, cold luminescence that repelled the sweltering heat outside.
The gathering of geniuses had already begun.
Pillars could be seen erected before the shimmering gates of light. Each bore its own grandeur, flames of phoenix bloodlines, moonlit radiance of luxurious clans, auspicious auras of tigers, and a harmonious growth of peaceful history.
Davis’s group slowed their vessel and landed. Even from afar, the pressure of countless peerless Sovereigns, Immortal Emperor Beasts, and Spirits pressed like a tidal wave. His family, however, stood unshaken. They had amused expressions on their faces, wondering how they should deal with this gathering.
They would be welcome, of course, but now that they have the Divine Emperor of Death with them, will they be stopped?
They guessed it would be a sight to see.
The ice-constructed hall within resembled a lively marketplace, with stalls brimming with rare artifacts, herbs, and soul treasures. Above, banners inscribed with runes of order glowed faintly:
[No Duels. No Killings. No Disturbances.]
[All Galaxies Are Welcome To Exchange Goods.]
Davis paused at this signboard for a moment, feeling that it carried the intent of Mandate Laws. He wondered if his little sister was here, but then remembered that she was an Empyrean, and she wasn’t the only one who could use Mandate Laws.
He stepped past the entrance and headed into the marketplace.
The place had been shaped into an otherworldly bazaar, rows of intricate stalls expanded in front of their vision. They were laden with talismans, ores, herbs, and many items were stacked and placed neatly.
But quickly, the ones standing in the way hurriedly moved away like they had seen a ghost.
From the corners, some sneered, thinking that he would meet his end today, having no idea.
Some looked cautious, not really sure about his prowess, as they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, and they had their own pride to retreat.
But most were scared, and others who wanted chaos to ensue so that they could finally steal from this place watched with amusement, waiting for conflict to spark.
Some of the pathway stalls even started to directly pack up their wares in an attempt to leave.
"This..." Shirley was flabbergasted.
At this rate, she imagined that not more than ten or twenty brave or ignorant people would remain for the exchange.
But suddenly, there was the sound of marching as a congregation made its way to them.
The first to arrive descended in silence, feathers of ethereal color trailing across the air. The atmosphere shifted, songs of flame and serenity humming in resonance as an aura of pride filled the hall.
Then serene figures draped in moonlit silks hovered towards them, where the first had radiated sharpness, these carried a soft, binding pressure, as though smiles alone could bend the tides of a battle.
By their side, another group also walked, their figures draped with black and white robes. Their eyes looked sharp, yet there was a fortuitous air about them, filled with a sacred aura.
Lastly, a group of gentle streams of fragrance floated towards them like they were saffron and rain. Their aura soothed the surroundings, but it also carried a blade’s edge. Even as they hovered, the air coiled around their legs like they were serpents.
Davis recognized them.
These four groups were none other than the Skytune Family of the Seven-Colored Phoenix Upper Realm, the Moonsmile Family of the Radiant Blossom Upper Realm, the Tigerius Clan of the Sacred Tiger Upper Realm, and the Mistral Family of the Saffron Harmony Upper Realm.
From the pillars, it was clear that these four were the hosts of the gathering.
Of them, he instantly recognized Liam Moonsmile.
