Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4784 Going To See Arc

Chapter 4784  Going To See Arc

"Arc's not here…" Noctis smiled lightly, "I heard he was with his mother. You know- Mother Fiora can be quite protective. Besides, they might have something else to do."

"Oh…"

Lydia nodded.

The others were also silent.

Everyone knew that Arc possessed the least talent amongst them.

They all cared about him, but they couldn't stop the rumors from spreading outside the family. Numerous people murmured and gossiped about which sounded bad because he resembled their father greatly, but didn't even inherit a single bit of his talent. They didn't like it at all, so when topics about Arc were brought up, they tended to go silent as though a unanimous ban was put on this topic.

"I'll go see big brother Arc and Mother Fiora then~"

However, Lydia seemed quite oblivious to it as she smiled and hopped off.

Noctis reached out his hand, wanting to stop her, but didn't. His hand went to his hair as he scratched his head.

"I hope it doesn't get awkward for Arc…"

While everyone kept silent, Sheria skillfully chased the other children off as she said they were going to play hide and seek. Naturally, soul sense shouldn't be used in this game, or they would be punished. On the other hand, concealment techniques were allowed.

This game not only increased the perceptive nature of the children, but it also allowed them to be highly creative when it comes to hiding or investigating how others would hide.

"He might not accept visitors like us, but it's just little Lydia. Why wouldn't he want to meet with her?" Styx shook her head.

"If she can meet her, then that's good. She'll cheer him up plenty." Tianyu chuckled.

He had faith in Lydia being able to cheer Arc up since the two of them were quite close.

"Is it fine letting Lydia walk out?" Xiesha couldn't help but worry about both of them.

"It's not an emergency." Aurelia shook her head.

"We still have a bit of time before we depart. Until then, let little Lydia comfort Arc. Also, Aunt Lereza is surely watching over all of us, so there's no need to worry."

Everyone nodded.

Tianyu narrowed his brows, "Still, don't you think it's weird that Arc's cultivation isn't stable? He was born in our Davis Family, where resources are plenty. Even in Class Three, where most members are possessors of unique physiques, they're not handicapped in any way compared to us. Their future is bright. The same could be said about Arc."

"His talent is mediocre, sure, but that doesn't mean he is crippled to be unable to cultivate. Supported by the incredible resources of our family, he should be at least a supreme genius, but for him not to even be able to consolidate an Earth Immortal Vessel is totally weird. Weird."

He said twice, enunciating it the second time.

"Even without mentioning it, it is strange." Aurelia responded in a somber tone, "But our Mothers and others have checked his cultivation and can't really find what's wrong with him. They did not slack on him. It was said that even Father and Mother Myria had checked him multiple times before they left, but even then, they didn't find anything strange."

"…"

There was a moment of silence in the group.

When it came to Arc, all they could feel was helplessness. What could they do if their most knowledgeable elders couldn't do anything?

If even the brightest of their family couldn't notice an anomaly in their sibling, then it was pretty much guaranteed his future was bleak. They couldn't imagine themselves in his shoes, all the despair and the feeling of being left out piercing them.

They wouldn't be able to show their face outside, feeling like apologizing to their father and mother for being an unworthy fruit.

They guessed Arc must be feeling the same and hence secluded himself in his home most of the time after his father left. They didn't have the courage to go see his face and say that he should cheer up because they weren't him. They were blessed with perfect genes and physiques. Even those who inherited Emperor-Tier Blood from their mothers were an extreme rarity in the world, but in the Davis Family, it was commonplace.

So, for Arc to have not even inherited a single talent, they felt he must feel out of place.

"Alright, don't be depressed. This is something Arc must overcome on his own." Aurelia consoled her little siblings, "All we can do is support what he wants to do as long as it is in line with our Davis Family's ethics and rules. As his siblings, we must not abandon him."

"Of course."

"That goes without saying."

The others readily agreed.

Their classes might be different, but they were all part of the first generation of the Davis Family. They had all grown up together, gathered together, learned together, played together, made fun of each other, fought, cursed, and made up their differences. They knew about each other like it was second nature.

And that was why Arc's helplessness also made them feel helpless.

To leave Arc behind was also something that didn't feel right with them, yet they had to move forward for the sake of the family. Even now, they were aware that they needed to take to the frontlines and protect the family after they entered the Empyrean Stage in the Upper Realms. No one asked them to, but they knew they wanted to.

"Haha! Caught you, Zyren. What's with that cold face? Smile a lot!~ You're a handsome boy~"

They heard Sheria's laughter, which woke them out of their reverie.

Their lips curled into smiles as they knew they could look forward to their new siblings growing up.

"Mhmm~ Mm~"

Lydia's soft humming echoed lightly against the stone paths as she skipped down the corridor, the hem of her white robe fluttering like a tiny cloud in motion.

Maids and attendants bowed as she passed, each with a warm smile, which she returned with an innocent grin. Even as a nine-year-old, one could see that her face closely resembled her mother's.

They all knew she would become a Celestial Fairy.

However, if one knew what her thoughts were like, their entire worldview might collapse.

'The Davis Family… infamous across the human realms, known to be brutal, unfair, tyrannical, and arrogant- well, all the nonsense the outsiders believed when he first appeared in the True Immortal World…'

She giggled inwardly, waving her hand at Head Maid Esvele and hugging her with a sweet expression.

Esvele bent and spoke with her for a while before sending her off.

Lydia hummed as she skipped over the footpath.

'If only those fools knew… that this place is practically a sanctified paradise compared to the ruthless clans out there… loving parents, doting elders, siblings who'd fight their own parents for each other… tch. Even as someone who's lived a lifetime before, I can't help feel spoiled… even jealous…'

Her expression adopted a frown as she slowly turned into a larger courtyard. She went inside, admiring the sculpture of her so-called father before moving on. She made her way up, climbing the stone stairs.

'There's no needless pretense here… no cold and suffering hierarchies. I'm free to move as I please… Father really built a monster of a family, including me, but I wonder where this all ends… It's filled with warmth… almost making me forget my past life…'

Her humming stopped as he saw the entrance to Mother Fiora's mansion.

'The home of an Anarchic Divergent woman…'

There was a maid sweeping the front of the mansion with a broomstick.

"Little Miss Lydia, you've come to see Young Master Arc?

"Of course~" Lydia's face brightened up, "Is Mother Fiora also inside?"

"She is, please enter~"

The maid gestured, and Lydia went past her. She pushed open the doors and stepped into the familiar residence she had entered many times. Warmth welcomed her immediately as soft lighting shone on her, polished floors reflecting her true countenance, and other things, making her feel at home.

'My mother is really a research freak. She loves me but disappears…' She pouted, shaking her head as she called out.

"Mother Fiora, I'm here~"

"Lydia, my dear~"

A gentle voice echoed as Fiora immediately appeared before her like the wind, almost causing her heart to leap. She couldn't help but smile wryly.

"Mother, you're always trying to scare me…"

"Hehe~" Fiora giggled, "You're not wrong. It is one of my favorite pastimes. Did you come to play with Arc?"

"Uhn~" Lydia fiercely nodded, "Is big brother Arc out of seclusion? I want to see him."

"I… I suppose he is. Go ahead and see him."

Fiora hesitated a little but still sent Lydia.

"Thank you, Mother!"

Lydia chimed and walked past her, her small hand brushing over Fiora lightly. However, Fiora's faint tremble told her plenty.

Lydia padded quietly down the familiar hallway until she reached a wooden door carved with cloud patterns. She stood before the door, and her expression softened, not childish or playful but filled with the calm maturity of an elder.

'The monsters of the Davis Family are a force to be reckoned with if they're allowed to grow, but this one's different…' Her eyes gleamed, 'A little dumpling who got the short end of fate.'
