Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4789 Finally At Ease?

Chapter 4789  Finally At Ease?

"Come in, mother." Arc's voice echoed, causing the doors to his cultivation chamber to open.

A woman wearing an emerald-black silk robe interwoven with cloud embroidery appeared before him. It was none other than Fiora. With her hands clasped elegantly, she floated towards her son slowly, soft green light pulses generating wind that pushed her forward.

"My child, how have you been these days? Is your health good after dispersing your cultivation?"

Arc cast a look at his mother, who didn't hide her worry. It was literally etched on her face, and seeing it always brought a pang of hurt to swell in his heart.

"Ma, you can't keep worrying about me."

Fiora appeared in front of him and placed a hand on his shoulder, and used her soul sense to survey him.

"Ma…!" Arc protested over the invasion of privacy, but he was helpless.

He had already become an adult, having crossed sixteen years of age, yet she was thoroughly sweeping him with her soul sense, as if he were still a child.

Fiora's eyes narrowed, "Why is there a remnant crack on the thigh bone in your right leg? Did you fall? That can't be…"

Arc lowered his head, "Well, Lydia came to play with me, but she didn't know that I had completely dispersed my cultivation, so there was a bit of an accident."

"An accident…?"

Fiora frowned. She bent and checked his thigh closely, but didn't find any strange or evil curses.

"Yeah, so I was thinking of wearing a lot of talismans to protect myself. The family can provide me with one, right? I heard it was dangerous since we were going to move to the Upper Realms soon." Arc blabbered on, but Fiora wasn't in the mood to listen to him changing topics.

Feeling vexed, she stood up and asked as she checked his soul, "What do you know about Lydia?"

"…" Arc was momentarily taken aback by the strange question.

What did he know about Lydia? She was his half-little sister, their eighteenth sibling born to Mother Ellia. She was a future Saintess of the Davis Family, as she possesses a life-light attributed soul physique that was capable of creating motes of purple light that are extremely powerful against the undead, healing many lifeforms, and dissolving curses.

Hence, she could even battle Noctis, Styx, and Ragna with ease, countering their death energy.

When she was small, he had even seen her erasing their father's energy when he brought a wisp of death energy out that matched her level after much difficulty. It made their father laugh out loud with joy and pride.

"Don't lie to me. What has she been doing here, visiting you all the time?" Fiora cornered him, making his expression churn.

Countless lies revolved around Arc's mind, waiting to be delivered with the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't bring himself to lie to his mother, who was extremely concerned about him all the time.

After a bit of narration about their close relationship, he confessed that he obtained an ancient scroll from her, which turned out to be a cultivation manual of the Astral Cultivation Path.

"Ma, did you offend Mother Ellia?" Arc asked curiously, "I think she had orchestrated all this using her own child, but I'm not quite sure why she would do it. Mother Ellia looks a bit playful and carries herself casually, even though she looks graceful. Is there any chance she would harm me- ouch~"

Fiora grabbed his ear, "Foolish son, why would you cultivate an unknown cultivation method without telling me?"

"Because you wouldn't have let me after I was just a step away from entering the Immortal King Stage!" Arc protested, "Dispersing one's cultivation is a big matter, and I have attained my Immortal Stage after numerous difficulties. There's no way Mother would let me gamble my cultivation for practicing an unknown cultivation method from the start."

"No, I would've relented if you were strong about it. I would've brought Mother Everlight, and you could've regressed without experiencing a single hint of pain. But now, you have to suffer more and keep taking healing pills to keep yourself from getting sick while you await practicing this dubious cultivation method. Why have you become so disobedient? Why do you keep making me worry to death? You ungrateful child!"

Fiora said one thing, but she embraced him and trembled, causing Arc to be dumbfounded.

He was speechless, but he had no words to return.

"I'm sorry…" He could only utter with a guilty expression.

"It's good that you're sorry…" Fiora caressed his head, barely holding back her tears, before she moved and slapped his face lightly.

"Uh?"

Fiora's expression was solemn, "That's what you get for hiding things from me. You are not a free man until you can reach the Empyrean Stage. And also, that's for doubting Mother Ellia. No matter how intelligent you are, you shouldn't think of your mothers that way without any evidence. Do you understand?"

"…" Arc held his cheek, but he smiled cheerfully as he nodded.

The fact that his mother was beating him up meant that she had recovered from her depressed state!

This brought him more joy than Lydia visiting him today.

Looking at her son smile gleefully, Fiora wondered if she had taken it too far with disciplining him. Since he was not up to par with others, she had taken extra efforts to always keep him away from becoming a wastrel, since it was easier to fall into depravity when there was no hope for the future.

Fiora gently nudged his cheek, "You have grown into a fine man, looking greatly similar to your father. I approve of you learning the astral cultivation method, so do not disappoint him."

"Yes, mother!"

Arc echoed with excitement and determination. However, his expression quickly turned awkward.

"Now that we've established that Mother Ellia is innocent, could you tell me why she did this in a roundabout way?"

Arc wasn't foolish. Considering his mother approved of learning this cultivation manual without much investigation, he knew something had to have happened in the background. Perhaps Mother Ellia had met her earlier today and explained a few things?

After all, they were leaving for the Upper Realms, and all sorts of schemes or operations might crumble underneath the migration. Besides, they were going to meet their father, and nothing would stay hidden under his watchful gaze.

Fiora pondered for a moment before answering, "You don't need to know and don't pry. All you need to do is make sure you make no mistakes in cultivating the Astral Path since we don't have predecessors who cultivate it and subsequently couldn't advice you. As for Lydia, you need to keep an eye on her. After all, she's your little sister who is the closest to you. Don't let her be bullied."

"Who would dare to bully one of our future Saintess…?" Arc was confused, but he nodded, "I understand, mother. I'll cultivate and become the Emperor of Stars as I have declared. If I don't, feel free to make fun of me. Haha..."

He laughed lightly, but seeing that his mother was not amused, he coughed.

"Yes, I'll cultivate well. I need to get to the Upper Realm first to sense more stars, so it wouldn't be quick, nor would I make a mistake."

"Good," Fiora said and turned around to leave.

However, she paused, "Remember, do not pry or assume that a few things in our life will never be the same again."

"I understand." Arc cupped his hands and bowed solemnly.

Since his mother warned twice, he wasn't going to pry into this issue.
