Chapter 4835 Retreating After Clenching Victory
With Davis's words, Nyoran and the others didn't hesitate.
They immediately came to his side.
Kronos Alistair also broke through to the Empyrean Stage successfully, the black-viridian darkness energy aura reverberating from him, exuding even more profound temporal complexities. The power he felt made him feel amazing and unstoppable, but obviously, seeing the Divine Emperor of Death in action made him completely subdued.
Not for a single moment did he think he could match Davis's prowess.
Regardless, he didn't think he could stay alive escaping by himself, considering that there were Venerable Knights nearby.
After nearing Davis, he disappeared, a vague hint of a sorrowful cry echoing, "Not again!~"
He was sealed into the Temporal Voidplane Ring along with everyone else, including Nadija, Nyoran, Vereina, Rokushi Mirai, and Azbel.
Davis briefly glanced into the Temporal Voidplane Ring and saw Kronos Alistair still appearing active. He was a bit surprised to see that since the ring had been improved to the Exalt Grade, his time-attributed physique's ability to remain active even in that space was great.
Nonetheless, Davis didn't care.
With Illumina in his arms, he opened a spatial gate with the Temporal Voidplane Ring and left the scene, appearing hundreds of billions of kilometers away to the south, opposite to the direction of the Venerable Knights.
The Venerable Knights were still blocked by Illumina's clones.
"I think I can stop them for three more minutes, but I'm unsure if I can stop Venerable Knight Lussandra. Her current state is dangerous."
Illumina said while trying to hurriedly regenerate her arm with her regeneration factor as a magical beast, but the complexity of the injury from the destructive wind energy was hard to clear up.
"Hmm. I know. We'll die if we confront her. Do we have an escape plan?" Davis asked, "Because I sure don't have one other thing than to jump from one place to another using this ring."
He chuckled, but he wasn't amused since he was moving away from the celestial body where his family was.
"We can return to the Nether Dimension where we left from," Illumina suggested with a hazy look.
Davis frowned as he cast a glance at her state. Clearly, she had burned a lot of blood-soul essence to be on par with the Venerable Knight's power. Even if their prowess was more or less the same due to the layer limit, the quality of the Laws and other factors, such as bloodline or technique, determined who would come out on top.
It was difficult for an Alpha Exalt to match an Omega Exalt in this regard, so it was difficult for Illumina, a True Exalt Beast, to compare to an Absolute Primarch.
She could only hold on for a few minutes, but Davis imagined it wouldn't have been so difficult if she weren't protecting him.
Still, Davis was surprised since even an Emperor-Tier Grand Ancestral Beast wasn't on par with an Absolute Primarch. The Venerable Knights were indeed ridiculously powerful existences, worthy of their name, status, and honor.
'No wonder they were able to kill Anarchic Divergents solo and earn their titles…'
Davis thought before shaking his head, "Nyoran must know that the location you all left from has been compromised. There's likely a terrifying existence waiting on the other side."
"Nyoran did mention something like that." Illumina's expression turned strange, "I always had the feeling something was watching us. Even as a Spectral Gloomveil Rabbit, I found it extremely hard to pinpoint the gaze. Since I couldn't trace it back, it is likely a divinity-level powerhouse."
Davis nodded, also thinking it was some kind of True Deity powerhouse.
"We can only lie low for the time being," Davis said calmly.
As he opened spatial gates and left place to another, traversing trillions of kilometers in half a minute, he guessed he almost lost the Venerable Knights. As long as he could open a few more spatial gates and erase the traces of the last few, he guessed he should be able to completely lose them.
However, he still saw that the tribulation clouds hadn't fully disappeared; remnants of them still lingered and thundered, causing destruction across many plains and mountains.
'What's going to happen to this realm…?'
Davis sensed in one place that there was a Vacuous Beast portal appearing as before. This time around, there could even be Exalt Vacuous Beasts in them. Still, he didn't regret undergoing his tribulation one bit.
He didn't slow down.
He crossed another spatial gate, then another, deliberately staggering the jumps, bending trajectories to different sources by overusing his energy, collapsing the space using Chaos-Destruction Law, and severing traces behind him with Death Laws woven into the wake of space itself.
Each spatial gate became much more difficult to identity where it connected to, and the Temporal Voidplane Ring's spatial constructs were also very difficult to trace.
As he emerged above a broken mountain range, his gaze slightly darkened.
Far below, a continent-long rift split open with a soundless scream. The land folded inward, gravity reversing in pulses as molten veins surged upward like exposed arteries. Cities fortified by sect formations and ancient arrays were swallowed whole by a spacequake, crushed into nothingness before even screams could echo.
He ignored and jumped again, landing above an ocean.
Vast spirals of blackened hurricanes twisted into the sky, carrying fragments of sea beasts and shattered islands alike. Lightning remnants from the tribulation still crawled across the clouds like dying serpents, striking at random, each impact detonating with desolate aftershocks that erased the heaven and earth energy within tens of thousands of kilometers.
Davis saw cultivators fleeing in flying boats.
Autarchs tore space apart with bloodied desperation, dragging clans behind them in collapsing arc-ships. Many cultivators blatantly disregarded laws and engaged in violence, only to be swallowed by spatial storms moments later. Sect ancestors descended from seclusion too late, coughing blood and crying out to the heavens.
Davis didn't bother to stay and witness their plight nor help.
He opened three more spatial gates in rapid succession, each layered with Death Laws erasure and masking. By the time he emerged again, the surroundings had changed entirely.
It appeared to be a dead zone as he couldn't sense any lifeform nearby.
Only a silent expanse of ruins floating amid thin spatial storms- remnant of what appears to be an ancient city.
'This will do…'
Davis descended gently onto one of the larger landmasses and finally stopped.
He carefully set Illumina down, forming a soft cradle of life energy beneath her. Her breathing was shallow, her aura unstable but no longer collapsing.
"You take some rest," he said quietly, "I still have one thing to do, but I'll handle the rest."
Illumina nodded weakly, ears twitching once before exhaustion claimed her. The backlash from burning a lot of blood-soul essence hit her hard.
Davis stood and flicked his wrist.
A disc flew out.
It was ancient, light, and carved with profound formation runes that seemed to breathe faintly, a High-Level Exalt Grade Concealment Formation Disc he received from Rioxys Plume.
The moment it embedded into the ground, Davis's eyes sharpened as he felt shrouded.
He didn't stop there.
With swift, precise movements, he layered spirit formations atop it, layering concealment, spatial anchoring, karmic severance, aura isolation- some basic and some advanced runes combining to make an additional layer of protection. Each rune interlocked seamlessly, his control flawless as Exalt-level soul force guided it into place.
Only after everything was complete did Davis sit down cross-legged beside Illumina.
His consciousness sank inward.
Within his soul sea, waves of power rolled endlessly, powers refined far beyond what an ordinary Empyrean should possess. Life, death, and reincarnation energy filled his soul sea, reverberating with a mystical aura, almost making Davis doubt if he could form the reincarnation cycle right now.
He didn't go there since it would invite a terrifying punishment tribulation and expose his location once again, but most importantly, he didn't have the confidence to create one.
Regardless, at the center of his soul sea, anchored to his soul essence was the black-white stone.
It kept pulsing, absorbing the energies from his soul.
Every increase in Soul Forging Cultivation, every tribulation strike, every brush with desolate death energy had fed it silently. Now, bathed in his tremendously powerful soul force, it finally responded.
Cracks appeared as life and death energy surged simultaneously, intertwining without conflict. The stone shed its outer shell, revealing a luminous core where black and white no longer opposed each other, but rotated in perfect equilibrium. It held the hint of reincarnation energy.
A deep, soundless resonance echoed through his soul sea.
In that instant, Davis felt the black-white anchor itself more deeply into his existence, not as a foreign treasure, but as an extension of his Laws. His control over life and death sharpened to a terrifying degree, transitions between the two becoming instinctive rather than deliberate. His control also superseded what Myria would have over it if she were to try pulling it from him.
Davis opened his eyes before he smirked, "Hiding wouldn't be a problem for me since I was always good at it, but now that I have the black-white stone that reached Exalt Grade, it would be very difficult for them to find me."
