Chapter 4882 Clashing Heads
For a moment, Davis and Qiyra Darkstar went silent.
They stared at each other, appearing unwilling to give up but they both realized the foolishness of their plan. There was so much speculation that it could fail at any moment.
And Davis himself realized he was already approaching this with a do-or-die attitude when objectively, things hadn't gotten that far.
'Maybe I'm jumping ahead of myself, but it is better to take initiative rather than be passive… However… if Fairy Qiyra isn't willing to help, then my chances of kidnapping Anastasia Archus is very little… I might succeed but quickly get caught and sealed if she were to abandon me here… '
Davis knew that if Qiyra Darkstar didn't agree, then he would have to abandon this plan. This issue was contingent on all parties working together. He needed Illumina and Qiyra Darkstar to heavily incapacitate the Guardian Elder and escape, or else, he might be chased to the ends of the realms.
Taking Anastasia Archus back to the new home really wasn't an option, so they would be forced to run again. Who knew how many tracking methods her family placed on her?
Davis had all the reasons to turn around and ignore this issue, all because he wanted to get back to his wives. However, the benefits of successfully making a deal or failing and kidnapping her can't be emphasized enough, just as the risk is extreme.
It could finally keep the most threatening issue away from his family in the Upper Realms, once again allowing him to grow. After all, he just couldn't help but envision a battle with the Celestial Transcendent's true body and end up shattering with his family, then slaughtered.
He really didn't have enough time to grow!
"Umm… why not just ignore this issue? It's not like a sword cultivator would go cry about losing in a battle to their grandfather…"
"…?"
"…?"
Davis and Qiyra Darkstar turned to look at Illumina at the same time.
Illumina blinked innocently, but her face was still cold and scary as ever. What she said might've sounded even more insane, but the two of them suddenly felt as though she had a point.
"Did Anastasia Archus seem maddened? Besides, it's common for blood cultivators to steal and use their target's blood essence. Targeted by an assassin, this shouldn't be a problem if one excluded the fact that the assassin was too strong. It all depends on how the investigation on their side proceeds. For all we know, the Celestial Transcendent might not even have time to investigate."
"Again, a lot of speculation…" Davis wryly smiled, "Really, it doesn't take a genius to connect me with this matter since the Guardian Elder more or less seen me. But I can understand what you're trying to say. Alright, I'll reconsider to see if there's another method…"
"Since this started with Jiayi Crystalveil, why not try to approach the exchange of Zhao Yan using her? Illumina suggested with a hesitant tone.
Davis already told them that he did not wish to throw Jiayi Crystalveil into this mess, but since things had gotten to this point, he guessed she more or less wouldn't be spared either. Heck, she instantly erased her memories, fearing for her life. Qiyra Darkstar was also stressed beyond compare. The cold and ruthless Illumina was also shuddering while still doing her best to remain brave.
'Am I the only one brave enough to act against the Celestial Transcendent? Oh well, it seems like my guts are amplified since I possess Fallen Heaven… this is false bravado… not my own capability… I can see even why an Omega Exalt would be quaking under their boots… even the three villains who appear like they would dare to do anything wouldn't face the Celestial Transcendent even if they had a death wish…'
Davis thought.
He didn't want to force anyone to participate in this issue, and he couldn't seem to get Qiyra Darkstar to work with him, so his plan failed even before it started.
Davis remembered his principles on using Fallen Heaven.
It shouldn't be used as a basis for a plan since it was a double-edged sword. It was a 'fuck it all' card that harmed every lifeform in its range at random since fate itself threw a backlash at its usage. The innumerable bubbles within the sea of fate burst, causing all the lifeforms to undergo an extreme change or collapse under the pressure of inversed causality; creating ridiculous causes based on the positive or negative effects that Fallen Heaven brought about and further worsening the effects until even a realm could break.
Davis was becoming increasingly aware of fate as his stage climbed.
'Just one more stage… I would reign supreme even in the Greater Realm since at that point, Fallen Heaven might truly reach the apex as it would reach the level of a divinity and would not have to be afraid of being thrown out by the heavens…'
Davis clenched his fists. It seemed quite close, but might be far ahead since he didn't even know how he should approach the Exalt Stage for his unique physiques, further building on the three manuals he possessed.
How many reincarnations should he undergo to become eligible this time? He couldn't tell without reaching Level Nine or at least the High-Level Empyrean Stage first and approaching the bottleneck.
Myria underwent nearly a thousand reincarnations and later sealed this issue with the Eternal Life Body. She didn't need to reincarnate anymore.
But him?
'Hopefully, the reincarnations were just something required because I needed to condense my Soul Quintessence. Now that it is already done, I shouldn't need to undergo any reincarnations…'
"I understand." Davis said after pausing a bit to consider the future, "It's not the time to prioritize Jiayi Crystalveil's life over ours, but I will not throw her under the flying palace to be crushed. I will seek her help. Transactions are her forte, and she would more or less have the contact method to approach Anastasia Archus in the future, so we can get her to bring Anastasia Archus to the Upper Realms again, even if she were to leave now for the Greater Realms because her second aunt awakened."
"After meeting her second aunt, I reckon she would do her best to retrieve Zhao Yan. She is a young, prideful woman wanting to stand out among the younger generation, but most importantly, is intent on supporting her grandfather, really intending to reach his level, from what I garnered. I presume she's an Archus Family member who hasn't lost hope of reaching the Supreme One's strength yet. I guess she deserves praise for it, but ultimately, she's inexperienced compared to me. I will give Jiayi Crystalveil Ellia's technique that would block even the Level Two Obscure Intent of Enigmatic Heart Laws, and tomorrow, we'll leave. Is that fine with you?"
Davis asked Fairy Qiyra Darkstar.
Qiyra Darkstar glared at him before raising her hand, "That technique- I also want it."
"Of course, I would give it to you just for helping me leave the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm and get me back home. Once again, I apologize for bringing senior into my mess."
Davis spread his hands wide and brought his palms over to his fists as he struck each other, bowing lightly.
Qiyra Darkstar's expression didn't change, but her body language visibly relaxed.
"As long as you understand. We humble disciples managed to survive not by being high profile and avoiding offending True Deities as much as we can. You can't fathom the long periods we've endured not going out, just not to be accidentally discovered by one of Celestial Transcendent's or other True Deities' avatars. Fate is a fickle thing. They appear when you expect the least. In the span of a few thousand years, they will find you no matter what. You'll have to move again and again. It is incredibly difficult to survive. Otherwise, I wouldn't have seen the rise and fall of hundreds and thousands of Divergents for no reason."
"I understand," Davis responded, "I'm also in awe over how you and a few other Divergents survived for so long. However-"
Davis's voice rose an octave, "Just how long are you all planning to hide? Don't you think it is time for us Divergents to live with our heads raised high?"
Qiyra Darkstar gazed at him, her gaze complex.
"Master believes you can change that. Perhaps, you won't disappoint her like I try not to disappoint her after having committed so many murders just to survive…"
She turned around to go back to her meditative rock.
Davis watched her walk away and suddenly felt like her rear silhouette carried a forlorn demeanor.
He couldn't imagine how lonely she felt being the first to ascend and then trying to protect her junior disciples while giving all she had. Even now, Saintess Lunaria's disciples carried a bond that was almost as strong as close brothers and sisters, and they deeply admired and adored their master even after a million years.
'She… has already lost hope for growth… and only wants to survive and protect her family…'
'Even Omega Exalts feels powerless in the face of the Celestial Transcendent…? Then what is the Celestial Transcendent compared to the Seraphim Ancestor…?'
Davis shook his head.
He didn't lose hope at all. Instead, it just kept lighting up fires in his heart, his own Will responding to overcome them all.
However, he wasn't disappointed in Qiyra Darkstar. The way she handled the Realm Master Malzor Hexadra was not something a weak woman was capable of. To protect her family and obey her master's words, he could tell that she would strike ruthlessly and even sacrifice herself if it was required.
'She made herself a dedicated killing machine for the sake of her family… so she was scared that she implicated her family… no wonder a calm woman like her exuded killing intent that she barely managed to suppress…'
He cupped his hands again in sincere gratitude before putting his hands down and turning to look at Illumina.
"So, only after scaring you can you think calmly? It seems like I must keep you on the edge all the time or risk getting killed from being overly eager to protect me…" Davis grinned.
"…"
Illumina's black-white rabbit ears drooped as she cutely whimpered.
