Chapter 4920 Little Lydia
"Father…"
Lydia called out as she stepped forward. She appeared in front of him and held his sleeve, appearing shy.
'Ah… I can't expose myself at this point. Act like cute little Lydia who loves her father…!'
She pouted, her lips curling downward, "We waited for you so long, but you didn't come back. Since you don't like me, I also don't like- ah!"
"Haha!"
Davis swung his arm and picked Lydia up, causing her to yelp out in alarm, but she held his shoulders, her expression churning with both delight and anger. Her lips quivered as she clenched her teeth, knowing she truly loved her father.
Eight years.
That was the time period she had bonded with him before he had left, and she had awakened. This means it was also the first time she was seeing him, but the memories and affection of the childhood years were still there, carved into little Lydia's memories, her memories.
'Suppress… suppress yourself Lydia…'
Lydia forcefully smiled and hugged his neck to hide her facial emotions because she didn't know how unbecoming her expression had become.
"Welcome back, father."
"Good, good. Now that father is back, you all won't be bored anymore."
"Really?" Azalea blinked with her cute crimson eyes, her blonde hair swaying lightly with the turn of her head, "Father has so many important duties and has to take care of our mothers. You won't have time for us."
"Aye, don't remind me about it. We'll steal some time from your mothers, okay?"
"Shishi~"
Azalea nodded and giggled in a hushed voice as though planning something naughty.
"You are indeed as naughty as ever." Davis leaned in to kiss Azalea's cheek.
He placed an affectionate kiss, causing her to giggle even more before he turned to look at Lydia.
'Hey… no… wait…!'
Lydia panicked the moment his eyes locked gazes with her, her soul nearly flying out. Seeing Davis come closer, she hurriedly threw her hands and grabbed his cheeks before throwing her head up, out of reach.
"Ah, father. As brother Zyren said, we've already grown up. Stop embarrassing us~"
Lydia kept his face from reaching her as though she was fighting for her life.
"Ayo? My Lydia has grown up already? Where is my lovable Lydia, who threw herself into my arms and kissed my cheeks every chance she got? This can't be happening."
Davis's joyful expression faded as he turned sorrowful.
Numerous recollections flooded into Lydia's mind upon his utterance. She bit her lips. When Davis left, little Lydia cried for three days. She cried in places when someone wasn't looking. That was also the moment she had awakened, so she had managed to avoid detection, but her first thought after her awakening was strangely-
'Where did father go, leaving me…? I miss him.'
It had left a profound impression, but the days without him had already made her forget about him, mostly.
But now that her father was here, her mind, etched with the forlorn memories and nostalgic recollections, came flooding in, greatly impacting her mental state. She was unable to stop it, for her innocent soul had truly loved this man.
'My innocent and unawakened self is at fault for this…!'
Lydia bit her lips before she slowly moved and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.
Unsurprisingly, her heart was flooded with joyful emotions that she could make no sense of, but it was indeed her emotions.
Davis looked surprised before he gently nodded, "My Lydia is still my Lydia."
His voice was filled with satisfaction while Azalea pouted and also kissed his other cheek, competing with Lydia.
"Yes, my Azalea is also still my Azalea, a blooming crimson bud who will turn into a beautiful and powerful phoenix flower."
"Yay~" Azalea threw her hands up and made a winning pose as though she had beaten Lydia with her father's praise.
'We were competing…? You can have him…'
Lydia's brows twitched, but she made sure to make an expression of defeat. She moved her legs a bit to indicate to Davis to let her down, but he still carried the two of them, making her inwardly speechless.
'I suppose it's been long since this doting Divergent father held his little daughters…'
Lydia inwardly sighed and didn't struggle anymore, letting him hold her close. Davis continued to talk with the other children. Her cheeks gradually turned into a shade of red as she felt like this place in his arms belonged to her. The view was good and even felt empowering as though lording over the other kids, even though she had no need to feel that way.
"Father, did you come here after seeing our mothers? Is that why there is no commotion outside?
"That's right." Davis nodded to Quentin's question, "However, I quickly came here so that I can meet the youngest of our Davis Family and make our way up. This way, I will be able to see nearly everyone. Come, let's go on a trip across our new home. It's my first time here. Who's going to help guide me?"
Lydia giggled suddenly, "Silly father, even though we got into the Upper Realms, this sanctuary is still the same place. Not many structures have changed except those that have been rebuilt to withstand the density of the space."
"Oh, my Lydia seems greatly knowledgeable about the Upper Realms?"
Lydia's heart skipped a beat, "Ha, that's because I've been paying attention to the classes."
"Even though you were caught daydreaming today?" Azalea grinned.
"You-"
Lydia glared at Azalea, her cheeks puffing in annoyance.
"What kind of daydream was it?" Davis asked interestedly after he nodded at Ancestor Cornelia and moved out.
The children followed him, each step light and refined. Davis noticed that their movement techniques had indeed greatly increased from the last time he had met them.
"It's nothing… just girly things…" Lydia avoided the question smugly, not wanting to talk about Arc.
"Hehe, if it's girly things, surely, it must be big brother Arc on Lydia's mind~" Azalea grinned, "She always visits him, but nowadays, she rarely gets the opportunity since he is mostly secluded."
"…" Lydia looked unamused.
If she wasn't careful, she felt like Azalea might expose everything about her without being aware, not that she wasn't going to lose to a little kid, since she was more or less going to talk about Arc later to her father, since it couldn't be avoided.
"Oh?" Davis looked intrigued, "What about Arc? I heard he has dispersed his immortal cultivation to start astral cultivation. Did he make any progress at all? Let's go see him while we're at it."
"Yay! Lydia would be overjoyed!" Azalea threw her hands.
"Yay…"
Lydia raised her hand in a lackluster manner.
Davis chuckled, and Lydia smiled wryly. It seemed like she had no choice but to be stuck with her father for a while.
