Chapter 4975 Imprisoned
Davis returned to his mother and comforted her.
He stayed the night along with Evelynn, making sure his mother's mental state had stabilized. She took it more intensely than anyone else as far as he could sense, and didn't even have the energy to beat them up.
While his mother rested in bed, he summoned another bed, also using the opportunity to sleep with Evelynn.
Of course, he made no moves since his mother was in the same room.
They were just content with being each other, and he also told her how his date with the bunny got ruined because of his siblings.
Claire was still awake, hearing them whisper and talk about mundane things.
They seemed happy, causing her to smile a bit. She felt that at least her son was quite upright in this regard, even though he had around thirty-five wives. It was a strange thought- feeling that having thirty-five wives was better than sleeping with a half-sibling, even though the number of persons involved and hurt would be way higher in the former.
She hoped he was taking good care of his wives, and considering they weren't placing accusations of abuse on him, she was inclined to think that he was taking care of them well.
By the time it was dawn, Logan returned after imprisoning Evan and Laura in their cells.
They were in the newly built Loret Family's prison that hadn't been used until now. It could be said that the first honors went to Evan and Laura, making Logan speechless as he knew he would have to erase it from the history books.
Logan thanked Davis and Evelynn for their help before he informed Claire of the sentence Davis had given their youngest son and second youngest daughter.
Claire didn't cry this time. She nodded her head, but still looked worried that their injuries weren't healed. She looked at Davis with a hopeful look, but Davis ignored it.
"Where did you place them?" Davis asked his father.
Logan flicked his sleeves, "They are in the last cells of opposite sides, so they won't meet for a year."
"That would make them long and strengthen their bond…" Davis spread his hands.
"Then should I put them closer?"
"That would only cause them to become more unbridled."
"…" Logan and Davis.
The latter chuckled coldly, "Yeah, they're a lost cause already. I don't know why you would bother wasting time trying to change them."
"Even so- as parents, we must try."
Logan firmly said, causing Davis to pause before he nodded.
He couldn't imagine a scenario where his children would do that. It seemed like he must explicitly remind his children not to engage in certain behaviors, but that was already done in their sexual education when they were already eight, so saying it again might just spur them on, since everyone wanted to taste the feeling of taboo, especially when they're rich and could have most things to themselves.
Davis reconsidered just keeping quiet and placing more blocks if someone is found to be close to the other.
Right now, he could only think of Lydia and Arc, but she had obviously stated that she didn't have such an interest, which Mingzhi confirmed.
After confirming that Claire had gotten hold of herself, Davis and Evelynn bid farewell, and Logan accompanied them until they were outside.
Davis was about to leave when he turned around and asked.
"Father, why didn't you and Mother just say to them that there was nothing between Clara and me?"
"…" Logan blinked at the sudden question.
He gazed at Evelynn, thinking it was inappropriate, before forcefully answering.
"What do you expect us to do? Children are very curious by nature. If you start talking, they won't stop until they get to the very end of it. If you deny it, they tend to believe otherwise. Moreover, it's not like we have Heart Intent to be able to understand well as you do, so stop expecting us to communicate as you do. It's very difficult for us to get into uncomfortable conversations, not knowing how the other party would react."
"…" Davis's lips parted before he nodded, "Yes, I apologize."
He turned around and left with Evelynn hand-in-hand.
After they left the estate, Evelynn's voice echoed through physical soul transmission.
"I have tried asking mother, and she revealed that they have thought about you and Clara before. Their thoughts aren't baseless since you two were abnormally close."
"…" Davis chuckled, "Not you too, Evy."
"That's because only my divergent presence could shake Clara's Transcendent Truth Eyes. It has nothing to do with taboo feelings. She was as cold as ice even in my Heart Intent, barely showing any emotions until we separated, where she showed intense emotions, but even then, it was tame compared to what yesterday was like for Father and the others."
"It's precisely because they were worried that she couldn't show any emotions and barely displayed a smile like she was mentally disabled that they thought she was better off with you, like an untouched flower in the garden instead of marrying her off to someone, where the chances of her being abused- no abandoned, is high."
"…" Davis's brows twitched. Mentally disabled?
He supposed so since his parents were low-key scared of Clara, not knowing if she would kill them in cold blood if she deemed it a right given by the heavens ever since she harmed one of them. He understood their worries since he was also worried about how Clara would live her life if she ever got married.
Her poor husband may not be able to withstand a cold face, much less eyes that could see through truth.
That was a nightmare for any healthy male adult.
"But who would've thought she would make the decision to leave?" Evelynn spread her hands and shook her head pitifully.
"That was something orchestrated by the two of us, even if we had our differences and eventually came to possess different goals. In any case, it's not like what you think it is. I don't have such feelings for my little sister. It's honestly offensive, but you still get to ask me anything."
Davis waved his sleeve, indicating his wish to end this topic.
Evelynn's lips curled as she looked at the skies with him at the edge of the cliff on the outskirts of the estate. She could still remember Clara's abnormal reaction when she teased Clara that Davis was going to marry her and then switched it to Bylai and Zestria in order to cheer her up. She would never forget it, nor did she intend to talk about it.
Davis then bid farewell to Evelynn after sharing a passionate kiss and went to meet Aila Cherryweave, ready to trap this rabbit with himself this day.
