Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5125: Fall Of Hayden and Miredon

Chapter 5125: Fall Of Hayden and Miredon

"Guards, you don’t understand! Our family is in jeopardy. If we don’t kill the Hayden Family, we’re done for!"

"Move! Our Hayden Family can’t live in the same sky as the Miredon Family! If we don’t kill them, we will all die!"

The two families didn’t even meet. No, they weren’t even allowed outside their gates.

They all had their armaments out as though they were going to rebel against the city’s forces. The city guards all swarmed them. The standoff grew increasingly tense, with all three sides refusing to back down.

However, Evelynn applied even more pressure, never giving them time to reconsider their actions.

The Bloodruin Cataclysm Hex started activating one after another, causing thousands of Hayden Family members and Miredon Family members to spit blood and fall to the ground. Many couldn’t be saved, and even if they were saved, their hearts were filled with despair as their bloodline purity seemed to have collapsed.

People began dying in droves, causing the Hayden Family and Miredon Family to no longer be able to hold decorum with the guards as they attacked them and flew all the way to the other side to launch attacks against each other’s estate.

Rivers of blood flowed across the city between them.

Head Guard Rowen floated in the skies, not interfering with the fight as the City Lord commanded him to find the culprit responsible for this mess.

But he didn’t even know where to begin.

All the people he had previously captured from the two families turned out to be useless since they no longer had the hex on them.

By the time it was night, there were around one hundred and seventy-eight thousand casualties from both families. The number of people who possessed bloodline purity above thirty-three percent wasn’t high already since the birth rate in bloodline families was already so low despite being alive for billions of years, so by the time this war was over and everyone realized the true culprit wasn’t here, the losses were severe, and the survivors were all arrested by the city guards for disobeying martial law.

Even the authorities weren’t able to find the culprit since all the hex seemed to have been dispersed.

Overnight, the Hayden Family and the Miredon Family’s foundation was completely shattered.

Evelynn returned home to the temporary residence and chilled. Fairy Qiyra Darkstar didn’t even have to take action since they had left early before the war began, but she kept looking over to Evelynn, having a newfound respect for this little girl.

However, Evelynn was aware that she would never be able to avoid suspicion, as she was there when the spark of conflict between these two families intensified.

As expected, there really were people rudely banging on her mansion’s gate again.

When she opened the door, she saw hundreds of guards and a few members from both families.

"It’s her! This woman! Her appearance today is extremely suspicious, and her mask is even more suspicious. Guards, please arrest her!"

Evelynn turned to look at Young Master Dallon Hayden, who looked at her with fury and fear in his eyes. He pointed at her while daring to not meet her gaze.

The city guard standing at the forefront cupped his hands respectfully, "We are here on the suspicion that you may be responsible for instigating two families to fight each other to death. There are more suspects than we expect, and even the Saint is included in the list, so please don’t take this round of investigation personally. May I know your name and background?"

Evelynn glared at Young Master Dallon Hayden for a while, thinking that it was wrong of her to spare some youngsters who seemed to have potential despite their shortcomings.

She tore his gaze away from him and said slowly, "I’m Dragon’s wife."

"So it’s Brother Dragon’s wife. Please forgive us for visiting this late and disturbing you."

*Pow!~*

The city guard turned around and slapped Young Master Dallon Hayden as his arm swung in an arc.

"Ah!"

The latter flew miserably and hit the wall.

"Guards, arrest him."

"Why are you arresting me!?" Young Master Dallon Hayden roared, "Can’t you see that she could be responsible for this mess? She still hasn’t taken off her mask."

The city guard looked at him coldly, "Are you seriously stating that a Level Three Empyrean played your two illustrious families to death?"

"..."

This time, even Young Master Dallon Hayden had no words to convey. Even though he had no evidence, he was sure that it was because of this woman. One look at her sinister aura, and anyone should be able to see that she was suspicious.

However, who was this so-called Dragon?

Wasn’t the husband of this woman just a useless, trash matrilocal husband? Why did Head Guard Rowen make it sound as though this person was a big shot?

He was taken away before he could even have his questions answered.

The Miredon Family members who were here to investigate could only leave without finding anything.

All clues were shattered, and they were still of the mind that the Hayden Family did it.

Only the Hayden Family had poison in their bloodline, but it was innate, so it wasn’t as harmful as it sounded. Hence, only they could make a hex poison like this if they were capable of learning a hex in the first place, but they were also affected en masse, and a lot of them died, so everything became shrouded in darkness.

Head Guard Rowen asked a few more questions and then politely informed her that, should further suspicions arise, she should cooperate with them to find the culprit.

Apparently, both Patriarchs of the Hayden Family and the Miredon Family were arrested. They had surrendered their legacy artifacts, so a fight to the death was avoided, though they were already injured from unleashing their legacy artifacts on each other.

Nonetheless, they were still suppressed by Head Guard Rowen.

With the hex plaguing them suddenly disappearing, it also allowed them to calm down. Even if not, they wouldn’t have dared to keep fighting here when there were plenty of experts at the High-Level Primarch Stage here, most of them coming from major powers in the current era and holding important positions in the Bastion Cities.

Evelynn agreed to help them find the culprit without batting an eyelid.

She then bid farewell to Head Guard Rowen and went back inside, continuing to chill. Her bloodlust was satisfied more than she could ever ask for. If there was something to feel dissatisfied about, it would be that she had yet to test the combination of other hexes since she had only used Blood Hex, Poison Hex, and Collapse Hex.

Her hexweaving ability allowed her to weave any three types of hex, and she had over six of them, including the Banishment Hex, Purge Hex, and Sealing Hex. However, it was not limited to the six of them since, as an Emperor-Tier Bloodline possessor, she was also capable of using an externally learned hex to combine with the innate hexes to cause the intended effect.

For example, she had already learned quite a bit about Charm Hexes.

She had learned it specifically to deal with Zenova should she betray.

There seemed to be no use for it now, but it didn’t stop her from learning more hexes.

"I have seen powers disappear overnight, but it’s the first time I’ve seen two Empyreans taking out two Grade Eight Bloodline Families all by themselves." Fairy Qiyra Darkstar suddenly slid in a rare comment.

She barely talked the whole time she was guarding Evelynn, believing that it was all going to go down today and had made preparations to make a swift escape.

However, they were back here without facing much trouble.

She was honestly impressed.

"Naturally, my disciple’s husband is talented." Fairy Glacia Frigidveil said, amusedly, "He even moved the city guards to protect his first wife. Talk about being overprotective..."

"That was a close one. I don’t think we’ll be lucky next time."

Compared to her senior sisters, Laphria Rinmei felt scared the whole time. She fumed, thinking it was a bad idea to come here.

"Lady Evelynn, how do your powers work?" Jaiyan asked with intrigue, "You went to the Hayden Family, so it was understandable that they all got affected, but how come the entire Miredon Family also got affected? It doesn’t make sense."

Evelynn’s lips moved, "The hex I unleashed propagates through their bloodsoul resonance, which is a line of karmic connection. As long as they are of the same bloodline and are in close proximity, the Bloodruin Cataclysm Hex will attach to them while using my energy karmically. It degrades their bloodline, so in theory, if they’re a Grade Eight Bloodline cultivator, then their bloodline purity will drop dramatically, causing them to turn into a Grade Seven Bloodline cultivator, but their cultivation is all dependent upon Grade Eight Bloodline, so degradation of bloodline rank will cause adverse effects in their body, causing their cultivation to destabilize and cause deviation, not to mention the degraded blood turns into powerful hex poison which kills them before they can even drop to Grade Seven Bloodline."

"Only if they manage to survive will they live to become trash." She sighed lightly, knowing it was a cruel hex, but she didn’t stop.

"Likewise, a magical beast will drop in bloodline tier if it gets hit with this hex. Even an Emperor-Tier Magical Beast will turn into a King-Tier Magical Beast. It can even be achieved through a combination of two hexes if I don’t want it to spread to others and remain less effective without poison. It is through combining Collapse Hex and Blood Hex, which I would like to call Bloodline Regress Hex. But certainly, Bloodruin Cataclysm Hex, the combination of Collapse Hex, Blood Hex and Poison Hex is undoubtedly the strongest with its ability to turn blood into poison and ultimately cause death."

Evelynn seemed to be in a good mood as she talked a lot, but it only left the others speechless.

Wasn’t this technique too sinister!?
