Chapter 5230: Reconfirming Their Intent
Davis finished healing Fairy Divinacia.
Fortunately, she wasn’t injured as badly as Laphria Rinmei and Jaiyan, but she had never faced a hostile heavenly aura before, much less a desolate one, so she couldn’t endure it and had completely fainted, even sinking into a short-lived coma until she woke up through the efforts of Laphria Rinmei, who overlapped the reality of her waking up.
However, dealing with heavenly intent isn’t easy.
It caused Laphria Rinmei to become more numb than ever, so she returned to her lover and slept numbly until Davis could wake up and heal them.
Once he was done, Davis took a few steps back and cupped his hands, bowing.
"Many thanks, Fairy Divinacia. Your aid was invaluable to us. The breathing room we shared was so thin that if we had not acted together, this change might not have been brought. Hence, you share an equal amount of contribution and deserve far greater rewards than initially promised."
"I don’t dare accept."
Fairy Divinacia looked flattered as she raised her hands and shook her palms.
She was seated on the bed after having just been woken up and healed, so although she understood they had kickstarted the Golden Era, she didn’t think she had done much since she had only supplied energy while the techniques that shattered the Heaven’s Will all belonged to the work of Divergents.
"You are too courteous." Fairy Divinacia urged with a weak expression, "Please raise your head. I can’t accept this reward. I only need what was initially promised to me."
Davis raised his head, but pursed his lips with a frown.
How could he not reward her?
The stakes were so high with the Celestial Transcendent actually giving her a chance to go back to their side, but she remained and helped them out.
If Fairy Divinacia wanted to change sides, could he have done anything about it at that time?
The answer was probably no with just his strength.
Forget about changing sides. If she had wanted to flee from both of them while the heavens scrambled her mind, it wouldn’t have been strange either.
Davis knew people who kept their promises and walked their words were absolutely invaluable as allies.
He wanted to reward them not only for their own growth but also build up a foundation of strong cohesion, especially now that his family’s non-Divergents had been declared innocents. If Fairy Divinacia could be a protector to Azariel, whom he planned to send to the realm competition, he would be grateful.
He insisted a few more times, but Fairy Divinacia seemed to be afraid of owing more, so he didn’t force her.
It seemed like she really was scared by taking a desolate heavenly Will to her face.
"Alright, we’ll talk about this another time."
Davis respectfully saluted again before taking his leave.
When he was back in the hallway, he didn’t go to Fairy Qiyra Darkstar but went to the main hall where people were waiting for him. He had passed by and ignored them earlier since Fairy Qiyra Darkstar called him urgently. Evidently, Fairy Qiyra Darkstar trusted no one other than him to heal her junior disciples, but he guessed the most important reason was because of Handsome Fatty, Jillian Hayden, and Zevonn Malark.
They were still outsiders who couldn’t be trusted in her view.
If they secretly relayed that two Divergents were down, then it would be a good chance to attack them for the Heaven’s Warriors.
Although Heaven’s Warriors were barred from attacking, that didn’t mean the others couldn’t attack in these seven days. There were countless experts who wanted to make their names resound.
"Brother Dragon!"
The handsome fatty saw that Davis was approaching them and quickly ran to him with his large stature.
"..."
Davis’s brows twitched as he saw that the Handsome Fatty was still going on about his alias, intending to milk it until the end.
He raised his hand, death energy manifesting in his hand into a great scythe.
"Haha, Brother Dra- I mean, Divine Emperor of Death." The Handsome Fatty skidded to a stop as he raised his hands, "There’s no need to be so cautious. I’m here to join in your quest to reign supremacy in this Upper Realm."
"Hmm, possibly, or you’re a spy sent by the Celestial Transcendent."
"Hehehe..."
The Handsome Fatty wryly chuckled, "I’ll leave that to you to decide."
Davis looked at him with a cold smile before flicking his scythe and laughing, "Whether you’re one or not doesn’t matter. I’m not taking you with me home anyway. Welcome, brother."
He spread his hands.
The Handsome Fatty burst into laughter and hugged Davis with a bear hug, "Haha, I’m not coming either. As I said, my aspirations lie in unifying these badlands and bringing them under your family’s command."
He patted Davis with full force, causing him to cough as they separated.
"Handsome Fatty, you have grown a bit more powerful. Did your Stone Titan Clan reward you?"
"Yes," The Handsome Fatty clicked his tongue as though he was displeased, "Although they gave me resources to increase my prowess by a level, they have taken my hundredth wife hostage. Damn them."
"You mean they didn’t let their Chieftain’s daughter go with you?"
Davis blinked.
"Yes." The Handsome Fatty looked furious.
"They told me to become a powerful Primarch with influence and authority and eventually become a Hierarch with a prime standing in the Greater Realm, so here I am looking to increase my chances with you, my friend."
"You picked the riskiest person to ever side with?" Davis raised his brows, looking at him with suspicion.
"Hehe..." The Handsome Fatty looked away as he panned his gaze over the others, "While you’re the riskiest, I can also tell you’re the fastest. Since you plan to conquer the realm with your non-Divergent people, it aligns with my objectives perfectly. Hence, on the surface, I would be siding with the Davis Family and not the Divine Emperor of Death. If I wait any longer, then Aatura Rogazok will be married to someone else, and I can only cry on your lap."
Davis felt a cold chill before he hurriedly nodded in response as he patted Handsome Fatty’s shoulder, "Alright, alright. Welcome aboard."
"I knew I could depend on you."
Handsome Fatty’s shoulders finally dropped as though he looked relieved.
Davis could tell it was genuine.
After all, he was still the Divine Emperor of Death. The character he played as Dragon might’ve been well as fake but the Handsome Fatty did take a leap of faith. However, this didn’t mean he fully trusted Handsome Fatty.
He was definitely hiding something, but Handsome Fatty also knew he had Heart Intent, so he was practically announcing that he was hiding something with his guilty emotions.
Davis wasn’t bothered. In fact, he was worried for Handsome Fatty.
He cast a glance at Handsome Fatty’s life ring, wondering how many of his people had been taken hostage by the Celestial Transcendent. Or perhaps it wasn’t his wives and children. Perhaps it was Aatura Rogazok who had been taken hostage simply by taking her to the Greater Realm with the pretext of helping her grow stronger.
If it was the Celestial Transcendent, Davis had no doubt he would help her grow stronger and wouldn’t misbehave, but it was ultimately Handsome Fatty who was harmed during their struggle.
He patted Handsome Fatty’s shoulder once again before moving on to Jillian Hayden and Zevonn Malark.
He got their word to return to his home, but he wanted to reconfirm their intent.
"I’ll follow you. I have nowhere to go anyway."
Jillian Hayden said with a complex gaze. Her gaze was full of admiration as she had witnessed the spread of the Golden Era. This man in front of her looked like a hero in her eyes, although she knew how wicked he could be.
"This junior wants to be your subordinate, willing to lay my life down."
Zevonn Malark was more polite and respectful as he bowed and cupped his hands.
"Good." Davis nodded at them.
If it was just the two of them, it was unlikely they could be spies.
At this moment, Fairy Qiyra Darkstar entered the main hall with her fellow disciples.
Davis turned to glance at them, wondering how he should convince them to stay so they could harvest the first wave of resources that would sprout with the Golden Era, which means there would be a fair share of World Hegemon Stage resources sprouting, especially in this very land beneath the Golden Era’s radiance.
