Chapter 5241: Another Peculiar Person
Davis surveyed the scenery before him.
Layers of white mist rolled across the surface while strange luminescent lights flickered across the walls. Rows of tables were kept neatly across the space, with small cauldrons and spirit herbs placed on them. Rather than a cave, it looked more like a cultivator’s hidden dwelling and a makeshift alchemical chamber.
It also displayed signs of someone having lived here for a long time.
His gaze fell on the man who seemed to be seated in a corner, leaning on the wall as he kept reading a scroll with immense focus. Numerous scrolls lay around him, obscured by the weaving mist. He wore a white robe, clad in an outer crimson alchemist robe. His hair was a mystifying white as it shimmered in different shades while his pupils were golden.
He appeared quite the character, making one wonder which noble bloodline he was from.
He intentionally stepped further and instantly tripped over something.
"Hmm? Is someone finally here!?"
The man below instantly shot up as he threw the scrolls away and gazed up, his head moving around before he pinpointed where Davis was, but his pupils didn’t reflect Davis at all.
Davis didn’t do anything.
The illusions here were so powerful that they simply concealed his presence.
The man gazed in his direction for half a minute before sighing lightly, "Fellow cultivator, if you’re here and can traverse this place easier than me, please take me out. My Dragonheart Battle Sect will reward you handsomely."
"..." Davis raised his brows lightly.
The Dragonheart Battle Sect was one of the top five sects in the Celestial Transcendent Greater Realm. It was one of the Five Great Sects of the Immortal Path, mockingly called the Abandoned Immortal Path by the transcendents. He had read about it and gained much knowledge after speaking with the cultivators from the Abandoned Immortal Lower Realm like Julaine and four others.
Yotan had also gone to that realm along with the Reaper Soul Legion and brought back a significant amount of knowledge, although she had faced a lot of difficulties due to her relation with him.
Nonetheless, of the Five Great Sects of the Immortal Path in the Celestial Transcendent Greater Realm, there was the Heaven-Sundering Sword Sect, Dragonheart Battle Sect, Celestial Moonlight Sect, Nine Curses Blood Sect, and the Great White Peak Sect.
Julaine was from the White Peak Sect in the Abandoned Immortal Lower Realm, but if she progressed in her cultivation, she would eventually join the Great White Peak Sect as a matter of fact, since it was the upper sect. He knew they were experts in medicine, and hence, also knew the human body well enough to strike at weak spots. Basically, they were a battle hardened physicians.
It was said that if one dared to fight them, they might find themselves unable to circulate energy and could only kowtow.
In the same way, the Dragonheart Battle Sect were also battle-hardened alchemists. Their flames were all ridiculously powerful, so no one would just scoff at them and they could rob them.
The Five Great Sects all followed a dual path of cultivating the battle arts and occupation arts.
Davis pursed his lips as he descended, "I’m afraid that’s not possible."
"...!"
The crimson-white robed cultivator nearly jumped, his expression turning ecstatic, "Fellow cultivator, I’m really from the Dragonheart Battle Sect. If you don’t believe me or are intent on harming me for my treasures, please don’t fret. I’ve been stuck here for fifty thousand years and couldn’t be bothered about pride or ego. Please help me. Name any price you want! You can take all of this and my rings! I only want to return safely!"
Davis paused.
Stuck for fifty thousand years?
That was crazy. He couldn’t imagine missing out the Desolate Era entirely while still being in the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm. Did his heavenly tribulation’s clouds even reach here?
He looked closely at this person, trying to figure out his prowess, but the density was unstable and was a bit weak to be deciphered. The cultivation base was decipherable, appearing to be at Level Nine Empyrean Stage. The person in front of him was clearly malnourished and had breathed in too much illusion energy, so his own cultivation had now been affected by it.
’Well, considering this is the eighth place in the White Mist Hydra Secret Realm, Dreaming Den, where even an Empyreal Autarch, an Autarch with a prowess that’s six levels higher, wouldn’t be able to traverse easily and could get stuck for hundreds of years, it makes sense.’
"Alright, I’ll take everything and your legacy as payment."
Davis didn’t stand on ceremony.
He flickered his hand and absorbed all he could from the tables and the scrolls layered everywhere. Even the defensive talismans placed everywhere looked as though it was going to be taken away.
"Wha-!"
The crimson-white robed man was at a loss as he saw everything disappear.
He instantly went on guard, watching the other party drain everything from this place before he finally appeared in front of him.
A battle-hardened purple robe that still had some remnant spatial marks, flowing blonde hair that gently swayed along with his stride, and sharp sapphire eyes filled with an intimidating air beyond his recognition entered his pupils.
The crimson-white robed man froze on the spot, suddenly feeling as though he wouldn’t be able to do anything against this person before him. It gave him a deep sense of despair as though he had been placed in front of a World Hegemon-level cultivator, but quickly he thought that shouldn’t be the case. However, he still couldn’t shake off that feeling, finding it difficult to even speak a word.
The other party walked across him and uttered lightly.
"Follow me. I’ll take you outside later. You can then give your rings."
The crimson-white robed man jolted from his reverie and quickly followed him, but possessed an expression full of hesitation. Originally, he had just thought the other party was a Peak Stage Empyrean with an illusion-breaking illusion art, but now that he looked carefully-
’Level Five Empyrean, what the fuc-!?’
He inwardly cursed, wondering if he was hallucinating or had found himself a real person.
More importantly, why was he being taken further into the secret realm? Any further and he really might not be able to defend against the natural dangers of the secret realm.
He quickly offered a few words, hoping to change his mind.
"This pathway is probably a shortcut directly leading to the fabled tenth location of the secret realm, Dreamless Black Lake. It was rumored some people were only able to discover the tenth place due to the ability of a Mystic Diviner and a Death Squad sacrificing their lives to see through the illusions for a mere moment to glimpse into the Dreamless Black Lake. The Hexadra Clan then attempted to send in people, but they have never returned. I figure they had been turned to bones long ago."
"Oh, no wonder..." Davis reacted nonchalantly.
"..."
The crimson-white robed man saw that he wasn’t convinced and felt his stomach churn. He would rather stay than walk further and meet his death.
Sensing the tumultuous emotions, Davis turned around to meet the other party’s gaze.
He narrowed his eyes as he felt a strange sense of peculiarity from him, but this kind of sensation didn’t mean that he was recalling someone or something nostalgic. He recalled this emotion as he infused his eyes with karmic energy and gazed at the bundle of karmic threads around him. They floated with extraordinary heaviness that he sensed from the likes of Jun Meyers and the person of great destiny who was supposed to save Zhao Yan and bring him back but was killed by him.
However, these threads were tangled, and half of them appeared to be cut off.
Even though they were cut off, they still existed, which left Davis feeling intrigued.
"Your fate is in disarray." He passed a strange comment before turning his gaze away.
"Someone meddled, intentionally trapping you here and stealing your destiny."
"..."
The crimson-white robed man appeared stunned, nearly coming to a stop.
For a long time, he couldn’t appear to walk again as countless thoughts weighed on him, yet only two seconds had passed.
"Senior... you are...?" Finally, he breathed out before the purple-robed man could disappear.
He felt like the other party was a reincarnated immortal!
’Perhaps a World Hegemon!’ He inwardly roared.
"Divine Emperor of Death."
Davis paused, turned around, and said lightly.
It caused the man to frown, "Divine Emperor of Death... are you... a Mystic Diviner of the path of death?"
"..."
Davis expected this person to not know. It was honestly nice speaking with someone who didn’t know him.
"You could say that..." He replied nonchalantly and then wondered what a Mystic Diviner of the path of death is. Could it be just a suicidal Mystic Diviner?
Nonetheless, he turned around and continued strolling.
Epsila pointed, "That way~"
The crimson-white robed man who was deep in thought and absentmindedly following Davis while still being on guard suddenly noticed the pipsqueak on the Divine Emperor of Death’s shoulder.
His pupils dilated, and he pointed at her, exclaiming with shock, "Ex-Exalted Tier Pill!?"
