Chapter 5245: Destiny Converging?
The Celestial Transcendent laughed lightly as he looked at Davis’s sullen expression.
This time, he knew he had caught the true body for sure.
"Your cultivation base increased after you absorbed the heavenly life lake. I was told that you reached Level Seven Empyrean Stage, so what happened for you to drop down by two levels?"
He raised his brows with faint amusement.
Davis also raised one of his brows.
The Celestial Transcendent’s mood seemed to be somewhat better...?
What could’ve happened in this short time?
His thoughts stirred as he said, "My cultivation is quite unique. It flares like flames but also drains like water. It’s rather a common occurrence, so there’s no need to pay it any heed."
The Celestial Transcendent kept his amused smile, his arms tugged in his sleeves.
"You practice reincarnation yet don’t show any signs of a proper rebirth. I’m sure you have your own methods to avoid your destiny, but it remains to be seen how long you could run away from it."
"Oh?" Davis didn’t leave anymore.
He took a step forward, closing the distance between him and the Celestial Transcendent in the skies. Illumina and Handsome Fatty watched with worry while Epsila hid within Davis’s long hair, wrapping the blonde hair around her and peeking over.
"Is that why you’re happy? Because someone else is going to take your job of eradicating me?"
"I can only wish."
The Celestial Transcendent chuckled, "I’m overjoyed because didn’t you offer your services to close the Galaxy Wormhole with your chaos-destruction energy? Or were my subordinates spewing lies?"
Davis paused for a moment before he answered, "I did say that, but could your eminence afford to pay me? The more you reward me, the more chaos is going to brew, and eventually the people will arise in mutiny, saying you have lost your mind to be siding with an Anarchic Divergent."
"Indeed, the heavens has its ways, and I have spent my time being the ruler, but I’m not that easily disposable."
Davis’s gaze sharpened, "Destiny is converging. I’m wondering where it leads."
"Who knows?"
The Celestial Transcendent smiled faintly.
The two of them gazed at each other before Davis flicked his sleeve with a scoff, "So? What’s the reward for me to destroy the Galaxy Wormhole?"
"I’ve already given you your reward."
"...?"
Davis frowned as he heard the Celestial Transcendent, but then suddenly realized. He gritted his teeth, veins swelling over his forehead.
"I, Davis Loret, brought forth the Golden Era. The wild treasures that had a burst of growth and matured in this realm are all rightfully mine, and those that aren’t wild, the gardeners, nurturers, protectors, and guardians will all have to thank me on all fours for granting them such blessings."
"Oh? Then do you admit that those who died in the Desolate Era are your victims?"
"..."
Davis’s lips parted silently before bursting out laughing, "I didn’t bring the Desolate Era. The heavens did. The heavens couldn’t bring the Golden Era. I did. Even the universe acknowledged me! A mere Supreme Ruler can’t say otherwise."
The Celestial Transcendent raised one of his brows before he also laughed. He flicked his sleeve.
"So what? I own this galaxy. If I say it doesn’t belong to you, it doesn’t. If I say otherwise, it does. A mere Desolate Divergent who hadn’t even become an Exalt can’t say otherwise."
"You-!"
Davis raised his hand, pointing at the old yet young-looking man as he found himself speechless. He supposed he couldn’t win this argument if the opponent owned the entire galaxy altogether. He could only rob it, but considering he just wanted to gain all the advantages he could before leaving, he smiled forcefully.
"Good, then I shall take that reward. When should I destroy the Galaxy Wormhole?"
The Celestial Transcendent cast a suspicious gaze at Davis, not expecting to swallow this non-existent reward so quickly.
Although World Hegemon Grade resources were nothing to him, it should mean everything to this brat who was growing. He naturally wouldn’t go out of his way to stop Davis or others from harvesting these resources, and their split up to find these treasures didn’t escape his gaze either.
He had an avatar following each one of them from the space beyond the realm, his ocular-karmic art having locked onto them for some time. His distant gaze was so noncommittal, lacked hostile intent, and didn’t spot their exact location because he was tracking them through their Divergent aura that he had locked onto, so they couldn’t sense him spying on them either.
He was waiting for them to lead him back to their home or base.
As long as he could obtain the general location of where they were, he could pinpoint them just by descending and unleashing his soul sense. Even if they realized and concealed themselves in a hurry, he already had their exact counters ready in mind since he had already faced them once already.
He had no intention to take back his words, but he wasn’t going to leave Zhao Yan in someone else’s hands either.
The best course of action was to quickly rescue Zhao Yan by himself and finally comfort his daughter.
But now, Davis and his fellow Divergents had chosen to remain and harvest the World Hegemon Grade resources, which was also well within his expectations since he did think of borrowing the power of chaos-destruction to destroy the Galaxy Wormhole along with his three avatars and one of the true bodies of the Hell Hydra Monarch. It would be best if they could be absorbed by the great void altogether after the wormhole collapses.
Exchanging three avatars at the Second Layer’s limit for one-ninth of a true body of a Supreme Ruler that could go beyond a World Hegemon’s power in an unsuppressed layer was a cheap price to pay in his opinion.
But at the same time-
"I’m in talks with the Hell Hydra Monarch through the official channels of our human race. You also pissed him off greatly when you kicked him in the face, so you’re partially responsible for this trouble. However, the Golden Era is simply not something he could refuse. He would do anything to keep the Galaxy Wormhole open or, unsurprisingly, invade us in full force using every possible pathway along with the forces from other galaxies. Sharing the tsunami of energy from the Golden Era could be the key to stopping the war between the galaxies and attaining peace on all fronts."
"..."
Davis narrowed his eyes.
