Chapter 5269: Exawelese Skylov
"..."
Davis watched the black-golden winged roc lean closer, her dark-violet eyes shining with a hunger that went far beyond simple greed for a single flower. She was aiming to enter the Realm Beast Stage and become something even more powerful in it, something known as a Dynastic Realm Beast.
The offer he had just voiced still hung in the air between them, heavy with consequences he alone fully understood.
Helping an outsider restore an Emperor-Tier bloodline and then push her through the True Exalt Beast path was no small matter. It would demand rare resources, careful guidance through a lethal tribulation and the suppression of the second layer, not to mention the constant risk that her fate would twist in directions even he could not fully predict, which could cause her to die without a soul remaining.
Yet the Eternal Nightshade Moonflower was too valuable to leave behind, and Illumina’s quiet hope for it was not something he could casually ignore.
He let the silence stretch only long enough for his thoughts to settle. The decision had clearly formed in his mind, but he sought more information.
Davis raised his gaze to meet those glimmering eyes once more. "Before I commit further, I need to understand the path you walk and the ground you stand on. Tell me your past. How old are you? How did you live within the Glorious Wind Roc Sect? And why has a beast of your standing remained on Skycloud Island instead of returning to the Greater Realm?"
Exawelese Skylov’s wings shifted once, the glittering feathers catching the faint light that filtered through the island’s illusory winds. For a moment the sweet tone she had adopted earlier faded, replaced by something quieter and more guarded. She studied the human who had walked unafraid between auras of two Exalted Grandmasters, then spoke with a measured voice.
"I am two million and three hundred thousand and eight hundred and twenty-seven years old, or so I think. Within the sect, I was born into the main bloodline of the Indomitable Soaring Tempest Roc Clan, but my mother was from the Jeweled Ash Raven Clan, so I was never the favored heir. My parents held high seats, and I was given the best resources as long as I remained obedient. I cultivated the orthodox wind and darkness arts from the two clans, refined my body and bloodline with the sect’s ancestral techniques, and rose to Level Four True Beast Exalt Stage."
She paused, letting them digest her words. She saw the rabbit raise her hands and count with a difficult expression before she flicked her sleeves and nodded satisfactorily at the numbers that appeared in front of her.
[2,300,827]
Exawelese Skylov’s brows twitched, "So rude. How old are you?" She couldn’t help but interject.
"Mhph~" Illumina didn’t say anything.
On the other hand, Davis couldn’t help but admire the age.
However, it wasn’t scary considering she wasn’t a human.
Humans would end up losing their bloodsoul essence from their tribulations alone at such a point in life. After all, every nine thousand years, humans had to face a tribulation. On the other hand, beasts faced tribulations every time they stepped past a minor stage while spirits faced practically nothing.
However, after escaping the clutches of immortality and stepping into divinity, he had read gibberish stating that it was no longer the case and could increase.
He didn’t know what it meant by that.
Having no choice but to continue, Exawelese Skylov opened her beak, "Although the path of the True Exalt Beast is revered, it isn’t wise to enter it since many who enter it just end up remain staying their permanently or perish during the tribulation. Unlike humans, we rarely have the ability to disperse our cultivation and re-cultivate to the normal path since our gains to the improvement of the core are solidified in comparison. Regardless, I insisted on walking it, so the Glorious Wind Roc Sect left me to my devices. They gave me a million years to reach Level Seven True Exalt Beast Stage, and I did it, but I’ve been stuck in this level for another million years now."
"I needed a World Hegemon Grade Treasure, so they gave me a sapling of the Eternal Nightshade Flower and had me nurture it myself, but I was told to not use the resources of the sect to grow it, so I had to look for a way myself. I first brought it outside the sect and planted it there. It was stolen. The sect gave me a sapling again, so I took it to a compatible attribute Domain World owned by an allied World Hegemon, but that World Hegemon fled from a fight with another World Hegemon. The result was that he stole my treasure and was said to have perished in a dangerous zone. Although I could not perceive the truth of the matter, it was true that I was unable to retrieve my treasure."
"..."
"Having learned my lesson twice, I came down to the Second Layer, but the energy is so abysmal here that the time taken waiting for it to grow is even worse, but I can manage as long as it could grow. All I had to do was feed it with enough nourishment, which I can obtain as a near-layer-limit expert like myself. The Hexadra Clan and the others didn’t dare offend me. However, it would take thirty million or more years for it to reach maturity even with the advent of the Golden Era, so it’s better for me to take a gamble with you."
"..."
Davis and Illumina’s expressions still couldn’t stop quivering.
This roc was truly... unlucky!
"What?" Seeing their expressions, Exawelese Skylov asked with a hesitant expression, "Are you going to back out after knowing that it will take thirty million more years for it to mature?"
Her wings quivered, "Honestly, it would take a full ninety million-year cycle for it to mature, but I had already nurtured it with a lot of resources, bringing down the time taken by half in just a million years. If you can support me, I’m sure you can also give the same resources for the Eternal Nightshade Flower and make it mature within another two to three million years."
’Watch me bring it down to the next year...’ Was what Davis wanted to say but held back his tongue as he frowned.
"I’m already aware, but I didn’t expect the Golden Era’s blessings to be of so little help to spiritual herbs that are still in their early phase. Why didn’t you just return to the Greater Realm when the Desolate Era descended two months ago?"
"Heh, I predicted it would disperse since I felt it was a sudden and temperamental change as though the heavens were furious about something, and it turns out that I was right. After all, the skies had turned red before it. I think it belonged to some terrifying Divergent. Nonetheless, I continued taking a nap, and it really went away. Turns out I’m such a visionary."
"..."
Exawelese Skylov answered with immense pride, leaving Davis and Illumina looking at each other.
A True Exalt Beast really did appear to have slept through the Desolate Era! Fortunately, Exawelese Skylove appeared to be a beast who was raised like a human, so she didn’t lack care for other beings. In fact, she was even caring towards her descendants and even birds of other races, possibly all of them belonging to the Glorious Wind Roc Sect and its allies.
If she had been a wild magical beast, things might’ve been different for this entire sea region.
"Alright," Davis nodded, "We have a deal. But in addition to the Eternal Nightshade Moonflower, I want you to do two more things."
"Eh... what is it...?" Exawelese Skylov reeled back, her big dark-violet eyes blinking in caution.
"One, explain to me in detail about the True Exalt Beast Stage path. It would make it easier for me to help you. Furthermore, when you visit the True Peak Emporium to gain resources for your cultivation, you have to guard Jiayi Crystalveil for a period of thirty years. Are you agreeable to these two conditions?"
Exawelese Skylov quickly said, "Of course, I can explain about the True Exalt Beast Stage path in detail. However, I don’t know who this Jiayi Crystalveil is. I’m telling you. If it’s a person I don’t approve of, then I won’t guard them."
"That’s fine. The second condition is entirely optional."
"We have a deal then!~"
Exawelese Skylov let out a cry in joy and took to the skies before descending and circling around the island as her size turned smaller and smaller until she transformed into a human figure.
However, Davis was already at work, harvesting the Eternal Nightshade Flower, carefully storing it and then sealing it using the Temporal Voidplane Ring. Even if he had sealed it in a mortal-grade jade container, the energy wouldn’t leak at all due to time coming to a standstill within the Temporal Voidplane Ring.
After taking the Eternal Nightshade Flower, Davis was in no hurry to leave.
He looked around at the vast lake and the mountains in the distance, but his gaze was more on the different kinds of birds. There were quite a few Exalt Beasts, over twenty-two. Clearly, they were of the younger generation, at least less than a hundred thousand years old.
He wondered if he should barter further to take some of them as mounts since a lot of them outside the core region were Feral Beasts. Tamed enough, they would not be much different than a wild magical beast that could obey commands.
Amidst all of this, Exawelese Skylov was stumped; the Truesoul Contract in her hands wasn’t even signed yet, but the human had already harvested the treasure.
However, her lips parted in shock when she saw the rabbit pounce on the human and peck his lips firmly each time with her ripe, tantalizing lips, leaving the human himself stunned.
