Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5304: Smothered With Affection

Chapter 5304: Smothered With Affection

Isabella, Shirley, Fiora, Niera, Zestria, Bylai, and Shea- the seven of them pounced on him, burying him with their warmth and softness. Isabella sat by the side of his rib and held him dearly, while Shirley held his arm. Bylai grabbed the other arm as she hovered above Isabella, gazing at Davis with teary eyes.

Zestria and Shea sat on his legs, holding his thighs dearly as though they didn’t want to let go.

Niera landed behind Davis’s head, holding his cheeks as she placed a gentle kiss on him.

When she moved away after letting tears fall on his cheeks, he saw his wives surround him, their expressions laden with longing as they couldn’t wait to get their chance to jump on him, while the mature ones simply smiled, hiding their emotions from overflowing.

Even Zenova nodded with a deep smile, her tummy evidently bigger as though she were seven months pregnant.

Mingzhi rubbed the bridge of her nose as she wiped away her tears and turned around.

Soon, his children also poured out of the spatial vortex group by group while Mingzhi and a few others went back to retrieve some things and arrange matters. Moving was no small matter. They had just cleared out the treasury, and now needed to store it all again, and the treasure was merely one aspect of a big family.

Besides, the other allied families had also been moved out.

As for the populace living in this sanctuary, they wouldn’t be killed, so there was no need to move them at all.

Since Davis had come back after hiding from them with the intent of making a last stand, they knew they had successfully escaped from the Celestial Transcendent.

The past day was tense with fear and filled with worry for their husband, not knowing how he would fare. On the other hand, if he was forced to escape, just how long would it take before they met again?

They hadn’t even said farewell.

Evelynn had only said he was capable enough to fight and said nothing more, not even in the mood to tell his glorious feats in the Six-Headed Hydra Upper Realm, for that would be putting the cart before the horse and even jinxing him.

They could only hear it from the new girl, Jillian Hayden, and Ophirya Kaelis, who had met Tia, but Tia wasn’t even in the mood to start investigating her as she usually would, clutching her fists and becoming more vigilant as she began brainstorming how to better protect the family in the future with the current resources they possessed.

"Father!~"

Eterna also pounced towards Davis like her mother. She held them together, crying out loud, "You made us worry so much. Thank goodness, you’re back."

"Alright, alright, don’t cry as though I’m dead. Aren’t I back without a single remnant injury? That’s how strong your father is."

Davis said. He wanted to raise his hand and wipe Eterna’s tears, but his hands were all caught, smothered with his wives’ faces as they cried for him.

He didn’t find it disgraceful or embarrassing. As Eterna said, his command for them to leave without him literally made them spend the entire day fearing for his life and the lives of their family members. It was as though their doom had arrived before them. He had made them worry too much by also cutting off the connection, refusing to speak.

"Don’t argue!" Eterna cracked an ugly smile as she cried.

She punched his face away and also hugged him along with her mothers.

"Ayo~"

Davis’s face shifted to the side as he chuckled. He then looked up and saw Azariel and the others.

"Father, you just came back, and you’re already drowning in public displays of affection? Even if you’re the Emperor, you can’t be openly flouting the rules like this, no?"

Azariel chuckled with a sleazy grin.

"You brat... come here..."

Davis’s gaze turned moist as he saw Azariel.

"..."

Azariel turned stunned.

His father had never shed tears for his sons, right? He suddenly felt chills, feeling that there was something more to it. He wanted to run, but found himself descending and kneeling beside his father.

"What’s up, father? You want me to do something crazy like you?"

Davis’s right hand trembled, causing Bylai to let it go. He raised his hand and patted Azariel’s cheek twice.

"You have a good look in your eyes." Davis’s gaze flickered, "Your father has made a drastic decision for you that will change your fate greatly, for better or worse. I hope you won’t hate me for this matter."

"..."

Many who were unaware looked stunned, but Azariel himself just shot a knowing smile.

"Figured something like that was going on when mothers stopped Fairy Jillian from saying more, and the gaze they looked at me turned different. Mother just cast an apologetic look at me when I asked. No matter what you have planned for me, I’m ready to fulfill my duty, Father."

Davis cracked a forced smile, "Good child... I admit defeat. It’s way too difficult to carry this family all by myself, and it eventually came to a point where I need to depend on you, the first son. I have treated you just as equally as your other siblings, but I haven’t treated you well as the first son, have I?"

"Father, you-"

Azariel looked dumbfounded. Hearing the vulnerability in his father’s voice, even his eyes turned moist.

Why bother bringing that up? He had long come to terms with not having the benefits that came with being a crown prince.

He laughed lightly, shaking his head, "No, I’m glad you didn’t treat me differently, allowing me to gaze at my brothers and sisters eye to eye and even insult them, and they can insult me. It was nothing but a blessing in disguise that allows us all to be united. Besides, you know I don’t do well when expectations are forced upon me, but now, I’m an adult and a fine assassin, a killer, and can be everything you need me to be. Just say the word, and I’ll do anything for you, Father."

He held his father’s arm tightly, biting his lip as he said in a firm voice.

"..."

Davis nearly choked on the words he was about to say, moved beyond compare.

"Good... good..." He could only say these few words, extremely satisfied with his son’s response.

Evelynn couldn’t stop herself from crying anymore as she saw this scene. She covered her mouth and shed tears of joy silently, as she had never seen this father-and-son bond in this manner.

"Father!~"

Everdream and Evergrace also ran to him and buried their heads at this moment as they hugged him with their tiny figures, but unlike the others, they were full of joy. They were simply not told what had happened, and within their mother Everlight’s embrace, they had been carefree.

Nadia and Everlight hovered in the skies in their human forms, the latter comforting the other like a big sister, since they were only one of the few who tried to speak with Davis but failed to get a response all this while, causing Nadia to whimper in sadness but allowing Everlight to reforge their bonds.

The children of Class Three arrived last.

Quentin, Azalea, Eden, Lydia, Silvia, and Zyren also wanted to jump in and hug their father. Although they hadn’t heard the specifics, they were able to realize the mood wasn’t right yesterday, their mothers occasionally shooting them sorrowful smiles.

Some of them now wanted to jump in on the fun, particularly Azalea. They looked at the others for permission, and Arc winked at them, giving them the green light. However, they abruptly froze.

"Everyone, stand up. You’re all hugging him like he’s a dying Emperor."

Suddenly, Zenova’s firm and authoritative voice echoed out, "Stand up."

It caused the wives and children burying him to become somewhat embarrassed before they reluctantly stood up. They moved away a few steps, waiting for Davis to stand up by himself, but he simply remained in the ground, chuckling a bit.

"Did you have to do that? I have Heart Intent, y’know. This was simply the greatest feast for me in the past few weeks."

Davis said with a satisfied sigh, but possessed some reluctance on his face, as though he didn’t have enough. Regardless, he sat up and gazed at Zenova with affection, wondering how she was faring with her child in her womb.

Zenova’s lips curled into a prideful smile, "I won’t allow you to feast like this. If you want to feast, do it on the table with the most luxurious silk and the finest of dishes. For my husband, the Emperor, what can’t I arrange in the entire world for the feat of reversing the Desolate Era into the Golden Era?"

She said in a suggestive tone, causing Davis’s gaze to be filled with intense desire as he felt her emotions, especially when she made sure to let him feast on her emotions as she was basically blaring it towards him.

She was completely smitten, willing to do anything for him.
