Chapter 2310 Kulas Awakens
"Teleport formations, huh? Since when did they start building those?" Tian Yang wondered out loud.
"Several hundred years ago. I heard the construction was being financed by the Three Pillars of Heaven, too."
"Do they have nothing else to do? They're getting much more involved with the world now, even though they barely had a presence not too long ago."
"It probably has something to do with their war against the Giant Race," said Ren Xia.
"Anyway, here is the soul cultivation technique."
She took out the technique from her spatial ring and handed it to him.
"Hm? Aren't you going to learn it first?" Tian Yang asked.
"I already took a look at it on my way back here. Unfortunately, I don't have what it takes to cultivate it," she sighed.
"Huh?" Tian Yang raised an eyebrow, clearly puzzled.
Since he hadn't been present at the auction, he had no way of knowing that the technique had been put up for sale precisely because only its creator had ever managed to cultivate it successfully.
Seeing his expression, Ren Xia quickly explained everything to him.
"A soul cultivation technique that only its creator can cultivate, huh? This isn't the first technique with such restrictions, so I'm not surprised. But…"
Tian Yang looked at Ren Xia with a weird face.
"Did you really have to spend ten billion spirit stones—our entire fortune on it? I know we have no need for money right now, but things might change in the future…"
They'd managed to amass such wealth after looting all of the Immortal Clans, but Ren Xia had spent it all in a single auction for a technique that had a high chance of not even benefiting them. Tian Yang couldn't fathom her thoughts.
A somewhat stiff smile tugged at Ren Xia's lips as she replied, "I figured that if anyone in this world could cultivate the technique, it'd be you."
Tian Yang facepalmed.
"That's your reason for spending that much money? Are you sure you weren't just messing around and got ahead of yourself?" Tian Yang glared at her, reading her like an open book.
"I-I may have gotten ahead of myself at the end, but there's no use dwelling on it now. It's not like we can refund it."
"Forget it. Let me see the technique."
Tian Yang grabbed the technique from her and immediately started reading it the next moment.
"So, what do you think about it?" Ren Xia asked him a minute later.
"..."
Tian Yang didn't respond and remained fixated on the technique.
"Dear?"
Thinking that he didn't hear her, she called out to him again.
"..."
However, Tian Yang remained silent.
In his eyes, the vast universe seemed to shrink until only he remained—alone, with the soul cultivation technique as the sole thing within his grasp.
Seeing the profound look in his eyes, Ren Xia stopped trying to bother him and patiently waited for him to wake up.
Tian Yang would not move an inch or even blink once for the next four hours, but eventually, he closed his eyes, delving deep inside his mind, where a name would resound repeatedly.
"Heaven's Indomitable Soul."
After staying in that state for nearly two weeks straight, Tian Yang finally opened his eyes and took a deep breath.
"So you've finally returned to reality," Ren Xia's voice resounded a moment later.
He lifted his head to look at her, who was standing in front of him with a worried look on her face.
"How long was I out?" he asked in a puzzled voice.
"Two entire weeks."
"I see…"
"I can assume that you've successfully cultivated the technique, right?" she then said.
He nodded and replied, "Yes, but this technique… It's not complete."
"What? The Three Pillars of Heaven sold an incomplete technique?" Ren Xia frowned, feeling like she'd been scammed.
"Actually, I'm not sure. It looks and feels complete, but my instincts are telling me otherwise. I'll need to spend more time before I can be certain," he said.
"Who made this technique?" he then asked.
Ren Xia shrugged.
"They never revealed the creator's identity, and I doubt they ever will."
"I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case."
"So, what do you think about the technique?" Ren Xia then asked.
Tian Yang pondered for a moment before responding, "It's a good technique… No, it's an amazing technique. Whoever created it is definitely a genius. Whether it's safe or not, I'll have to cultivate it to see for myself."
Ren Xia sighed, "Lucky you. Now that you have a soul cultivation technique, you'll be able to ascend to the next realm without any issue. I, on the other hand, still need one."
"Although I am not sure it'll work, I can try teaching you the technique once I master it," he said.
"Okay." She nodded.
Even though Tian Yang now had a soul cultivation technique, he didn't immediately start cultivating it and continued to focus on his Celestial Qi first.
Another hundred years passed in the blink of an eye, and during one random morning, Tian Yang, who had been cultivating in his room, suddenly opened his eyes.
"This aura!" He stood up and turned to face the direction of Kulas' room.
"Hey! This aura!" Ren Xia's voice resounded a second later.
Then, she entered his room and exclaimed, "Kulas is awake!" Tian Yang nodded, but there was a deep frown on his face.
"What's wrong?" she asked him.
"You should stay here. I'll meet Kulas alone."
"What? Why?" "I'm afraid there might be something wrong with him."
"Then we should definitely stick together! What if he attacks you?!"
"I'll be fine. Also, I can sense a familiar feeling coming from his aura…"
"Anyway, just stay here for now. I'll call for you if I need help."
Tian Yang didn't elaborate further and left the next moment, leaving Ren Xia speechless.
When he arrived at Kulas's room, several of his wives were already there. Yet, for some reason, they merely stood outside, staring at the door with nervous expressions, as though afraid to open it.
