Chapter 2401 Corpse Mountain
"You know where we can find the Abyssal Council?" Yuan looked at Supreme Ruler Dena with a raised eyebrow, wondering what sort of connection she had with this shady organization.
"I had a run-in with them before," she said, almost as if she could read his mind. "However, I don't know if they'll still be at the same place."
"We'll know once we get there," said Yuan. "Where can we go to find them?"
"Corpse Mountain," she said.
"Oh?" Yuan was familiar with this location, but he'd never personally visited it before.
"I wanted to visit that place in the past but never got the chance," he remarked.
"Corpse Mountain, huh? Fortunately it's not far." Lev sighed. "But it's as dangerous as the Deprived Crimson Valley since the Forsaken like to hide there."
Yuan knew this. When Tian Chenyu had visited last time he'd heard that many Forsaken favored the mountain's vast, treacherous terrain that made it easier for them to remain hidden, and he had planned to visit to hunt them. But alas, he never got the chance.
"Let's go."
Yuan and his group left the city shortly after and began their journey to the Corpse Mountain.
Meanwhile, a large group of demons gathered at the Demise Ravine.
"The Supreme Ruler was right! There are signs of her power being used here! That woman has really escaped the Deprived Crimson Valley!"
"Oh my god… to think that crazy bitch is out of the Deprived Crimson Valley again… this is a total nightmare."
Suddenly, these demons felt a powerful presence descending on them, and it was none other than the Queen Wraith of Demise.
"What are the Supreme Ruler's lackeys doing in my territory?" Queen Wraith of Demise questioned them with an army of Nether Wraiths by her side.
"Queen Wraith of Demise! We are not here to cause trouble! We are here under the Supreme Ruler's command to investigate a certain individual, and I am certain that you have information that will help us!"
"And how are you so certain that I have such information?" Queen Wraith of Demise inquired.
"As the ruler of this land, there's no way you wouldn't notice someone causing such a disturbance here! Please help us! We just want to know about the individual who was here!"
The Queen Wraith of Demise sneered, "Let's say I have such information. Why the hell should I help you? I have no obligation to assist the Supreme Ruler, either."
"Of course, we're not asking you to help for free. If you help us, the Supreme Ruler will definitely reward you handsomely."
The Queen Wraith of Demise fell silent for a minute before responding, "If I recall correctly, the Supreme Ruler has a certain treasure in his possession called the Spectral Jewel. If he gives me that treasure, I'll tell you everything I know."
"That… we will relay your demands to the Supreme Ruler."
Some time later…
"Queen Wraith of Demise, the Supreme Ruler has agreed to your demands! If you tell us everything you know, he'll give you the Spectral Jewel! However, your information must actually be helpful and real!"
"In that case, ask away. I'll answer to the best of my knowledge," she said.
"Did a petite woman about this height with crimson hair and eyes appear here in the last few years?"
"Yes, there was someone like that."
The group of demons trembled after hearing the Queen Wraith of Demise confirm Supreme Ruler Dena's presence. Even though they were already certain that she'd escaped the Deprived Crimson Valley, having it confirmed was a different story.
"Was… she alone? Or did she have company?"
"There were two other individuals with her."
"Can you describe them?"
The Queen Wraith of Demise proceeded to describe Lev and Yuan's appearance.
"She's being followed by two first-level False Gods?" The demons were puzzled by this information.
"That's not correct," the Queen Wraith of Demise suddenly said. "From how I saw it, she was the one following them—or more precisely, that noble-looking one."
"That woman following someone? That doesn't sound right at all. You must've been mistaken."
The Queen Wraith of Demise didn't say anything else and allowed them to believe whatever they wanted. "Is there anything else you can tell us about these two people with her? Tell us everything you know about them."
"There was nothing notable about the red-skinned one. He was a coward and a weakling. The other one, however…" The Queen Wraith of Demise shuddered just recalling Yuan's prowess.
"I don't know why you're looking for them, but I wouldn't mess with that man if I were you."
The demons were bewildered at the Queen Wraith of Demise's random remark, as it sounded like she was fearful of this individual.
The Queen Wraith of Demise continued to reveal some information on Yuan without going into depth or telling them everything, only doing the bare minimum.
"Anyway, that's all I know about them."
"One last thing. Which direction did they go?"
"Towards the Bloody Expanse."
"Thank you, Queen Wraith of Demise. We will have the Spectral Jewel delivered to you as soon as possible once we verify your information."
The group of demons left the Demise Ravine shortly after and chased after their lead.
A few months later, Yuan and his group arrived at Corpse Mountain.
Despite its ominous name, the place was not formed from actual corpses. Rather, the mountains bore grotesque, unnatural shapes that, from a distance, resembled piles of bodies heaped upon one another.
Their surfaces were a pale, bone-like white, while their peaks were stained a deep crimson, giving the chilling impression that they had been drenched in fresh blood.
"This is actually my first time coming here, too," Lev commented.
Yuan then asked Supreme Ruler Dena, "So, how do we find these people now?"
"Follow me."
Without any explanation, Supreme Ruler Dena entered the region. Yuan and Lev quickly followed.
The moment they entered the Corpse Mountain territory, Yuan could sense several gazes watching them from afar.
