Chapter 2488 Sparring with Keling
Hearing Senior Bai's question, a calm smile appeared on Yuan's face.
"Just like Tian Yingzhe, the Divine Paragon is another of my past lives," he replied.
Senior Bai opened his mouth, but no words came out.
"Any other questions? I'll answer as much as I can," Yuan said.
"The Celestial Emperor recently released an official statement regarding your incident, claiming that the perpetrator—you—smuggled the Asura Clan out of the Primordial Realm. As far as I am aware, they are the most dangerous criminals imprisoned there."
Senior Bai paused for a moment before asking in a solemn voice, "Is… that true? If so, why the Asura Clan? I understand that they fought against the first Celestial Emperor before, so you might want to cooperate with them, but they are simply too dangerous! Because they—"
"Because they once served the Evil God, correct?" Yuan interrupted, easily seeing through Senior Bai's concerns.
Senior Bai nodded with a deep frown on his face.
"The Evil God was one of the cruelest individuals in history. The number of lives he slaughtered reached into the tens of millions. Even if the first Celestial Emperor was in the wrong for starting the war, it still does not justify the senseless massacre of innocents."
Yuan sighed, and the atmosphere around him suddenly grew heavy as he responded, "You're right. It does not justify what I did."
"Wait… what?" Senior Bai's eyes widened with disbelief as he doubted his hearing.
Yuan stared at him dead in the eyes and explained, "The Evil God… the God of War was also one of my incarnations."
"WHAT?!" Senior Bai exclaimed, falling back to the ground with a heavy thud.
"T-The Evil God?! You?!"
Yuan nodded and said, "Although it won't justify the rampage I went on, allow me to explain why I did it."
He then turned to look at Meixiu in the distance before revealing the truth behind why the Evil God had gone on a killing spree and become the most blood-soaked figure in history.
He revealed to Senior Bai that the Celestial Emperor had assassinated his wife—who had been pregnant with his child—simply because he refused to serve the Celestial Emperor during the Heavenly War of Immortals and Gods.
"That's…"
Since he had never had a wife, let alone children, Senior Bai could not truly comprehend Yuan's pain. However, that did not mean he couldn't understand how such a tragedy could change even the kindest of men.
Eventually, Senior Bai spoke, "I will neither support nor condemn what you did in the past—especially when it happened in another life altogether. Let us leave the past where it belongs and focus on the present instead. As long as you don't go around killing innocent people, I will continue to trust and support your decisions."
"Thank you." Yuan nodded.
"Any… any other incarnations of yours that I should…" Senior Bai paused there and shook his head, "Forget it. I don't want to know."
He then said, "About Lady Xu… do you want me to tell her?"
"No, I will tell her myself."
"I understand. Then I'll leave you alone for now. Don't make her wait too long."
Without another word, Senior Bai left the world.
Yuan returned to Meixiu afterward and explained the cause of Senior Bai's worries to her, but she wasn't familiar with Xu Jiaqi or the Celestial Overlords in general, so her understanding of the situation was superficial.
"The Celestial Overlords' significant drop in ranking was caused by you?" Keling remarked with a dumbfounded look on her face. "Wait… so you were responsible for slaughtering Heaven's Mandate and the one who released the Asura Clan from the Primordial Realm?"
Keling swallowed nervously after realizing that Yuan was the culprit behind those incidents, and she wondered whether she should really spar with such a dangerous person.
She looked at Meixiu with the corner of her eye, and to her surprise, Meixiu did not seem the slightest surprised or disturbed by the fact that her partner was essentially a wanted criminal that even the Celestial Emperor wanted dead.
At that moment, she decided to try to talk some sense into Meixiu later.
"Let's catch up. I have a lot I want to tell you," Yuan said to Meixiu, who nodded before following him away.
"Um… what about me?" Keling suddenly asked.
Yuan pondered for a second before speaking to Meixu, "Can you wait a few more minutes?"
She nodded.
Yuan then turned to Keling and said, "You wanted to spar, right? Let's do it right now since you'll need some time to recover afterward."
"..."
Keling narrowed her eyes, feeling as though Yuan was looking down on her. However, the moment she recalled that he had defeated Heaven's Mandate Second Squad by himself, her irritation quickly subsided.
"Don't worry, I will go easy," Yuan added.
When Keling heard that, she felt something snap inside her head, and her aura surged violently.
"Let's fight, you bastard!"
Yuan calmly gestured at her with a beckoning motion, "Whenever you're ready."
In the next moment, Keling drew her arm back before unleashing a punch, her fist shooting toward Yuan like a cannonball.
Without even glancing at her, Yuan casually raised an arm before his face, effortlessly catching her fist just centimeters before it could collide with him.
'What ridiculous strength!' Keling's eyes widened in shock.
Although her giant bloodline was not as pure or powerful as Kelan's, she still possessed the blood of giants, granting her physical prowess far beyond that of ordinary humans. Furthermore, as a bow wielder, she had tempered her arms to extreme degrees, allowing her to draw bows that required enough strength to move mountains.
Despite all of that, Yuan had managed to stop her full-strength punch with seemingly effortless ease.
"Not bad," Yuan muttered as he gently pushed her fist aside. "But if you want me to fight you properly, then you'll need to fight as though your life depends on it."
Keling gritted her teeth and reached for her Spatial Ring.
"Disciple Meixiu, don't blame me if I accidentally kill your sweetheart!"
Keling shouted as she retrieved her weapon—a massive purple bow nearly twice her size—and aimed it at Yuan, her muscular arm already pulling back the bowstring.
