Chapter 2525: Divine Paragon’s Sacrifice
The small sun in the void caused by Yuan’s sacrifice did not fade until many moments later, and when it finally did, Yuan and Angela were nowhere to be seen, as if they’d been erased from existence.
Yet, nobody moved or spoke, merely staring at the empty void with blank expressions on their faces.
After a long moment of silence, someone finally broke the silence and muttered in a dazed voice, "S-Soul... Soul Rupture... the Divine Paragon detonated his soul just to defeat that monster..."
Soul Rupture functioned similarly to Dantian Destruction, a forbidden technique in which a cultivator destroyed their own Dantian—the very source of their cultivation—to unleash immense destructive power. Naturally, such a drastic measure was only taken in the most desperate life-or-death situations.
When a cultivator used Dantian Destruction, their cultivation would perish entirely. However, there remained a slim chance that they could survive and eventually rebuild their Dantian.
Soul Rupture, however, was different. Although it was several times more powerful than Dantian Destruction, there was no coming back from it. Using it meant certain death, and even the soul itself would perish afterward, leaving the individual without any chance of reincarnation.
Because of this, almost nobody would dare to use such a technique, even in the face of certain death. At the very least, death still offered the possibility of reincarnation, whereas Soul Rupture erased even that final hope.
Hell, even a madman would hesitate to resort to such a technique.
"Yuan... why...?" Yan Hara fell to her knees and muttered in a voice as faint as a mosquito’s buzz from a mile away, tears streaming down both sides of her face.
When she had asked Yuan how he intended to live as both the Divine Paragon and Yuan, his answer had been to kill off the Divine Paragon. Because of that, she already knew that the Divine Paragon would eventually die.
However, she had never expected Yuan to use Soul Rupture—a technique that would kill both of them. This made her wonder if something had gone wrong.
"Why...?" Xiang Biyu mumbled, her face dazed and her eyes unfocused. "Why did this have to happen?"
The Holy Maiden standing beside her remained as still as a statue. Although her expression was hidden behind her veil, tears could be seen dripping from beneath it, staining her pure-white robes with dark spots.
Unfortunately for everyone present, the situation was far from over. Before anyone could truly mourn the Divine Paragon’s death, a familiar presence suddenly enveloped the area.
"T-This pressure?! That monster didn’t die?! How is that possible?!"
Panic erupted among the people when they realized that the Absolute God—the Forsaken that the Divine Paragon had sacrificed his life to kill—was still alive.
"I am getting out of here!"
It didn’t take long for people to start fleeing from the venue.
However, before they could get far, a massive barrier rose around the area, completely trapping them inside.
"Who gave you insignificant insects permission to leave?"
An unfamiliar voice resounded through the area. Then, right before everyone’s eyes, many of those who had tried to escape suddenly exploded into bloody mist, dying in the same gruesome manner as Qian Chu had earlier.
In the blink of an eye, thousands of people perished. Because there were so many of them, their blood did not immediately vanish; instead lingering in the void like raindrops.
A moment later, the people finally saw the one behind the voice and the slaughter—a beautiful woman with features strikingly similar to the Forsaken the Divine Paragon had killed.
"H-How...? Where did she come from?!"
Yan Hara suddenly realized something and turned to look in the direction of the Demonic Realm.
"The seal is gone!" she exclaimed.
"It must have disappeared with the Divine Paragon’s death!" someone remarked.
"Silence!"
The woman roared as she slowly appeared before them, looking as though the Goddess of Death herself had descended upon the world.
"I’m impressed... shocked, even, that a mere ant managed to kill my sister," she said in a grim voice, her pressure gradually intensifying.
When she reached the defensive formation protecting them, she gently blew on it, instantly shattering it into countless pieces.
"Although her death was unexpected and saddening..." After a brief pause, she suddenly burst into maniacal laughter. "At least this means I won’t have to share this world and its resources with her anymore!"
Her pitch-black eyes, brimming with bloodlust and malice, swept over the people before her.
Then, she continued in a voice trembling with delight, "With that annoying bug Tian Chenyu gone, I won’t have to worry about his annoying buzzing while I feast upon his world!"
"You insignificant ants should be grateful for the honor of becoming my nourishment!"
She looked around before muttering, "But there are so many of you that I am having trouble picking my first meal..."
Suddenly, her eyes narrowed on a certain individual, and a sinister smile tugged at her lips as she pointed at them.
"I’ll make you my first meal."
After saying that, she vanished like a ghost before reappearing directly in front of her target.
"Leader Yan!"
The Demon Sealers cried out loud when the demon appeared in front of Yan Hara.
"P-Protect the Clan Leader!" Zhou Yanfei shouted in a trembling voice before instinctively attacking the woman.
However, the others were so terrified of the woman that they couldn’t even move, much less attack her.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Zhou Yanfei shouted angrily. "If we don’t kill her, not only will we all die, but this entire world will be finished! We can no longer rely on the Divine Paragon to save us from these monsters!"
Almost immediately after Zhou Yanfei’s words rang out, another individual sprang into action and attacked the woman.
However, she was not a Demon Sealer, but the Holy Empress—Xiang Biyu!
Still with tears flowing down her face, she loudly declared, "I’ll kill you even if it costs me my life!"
After blocking their attack without any effort, the woman replied with a cold smile, "I don’t mind getting a little exercise before my meal. It will only make it taste that much better, after all."
