Chapter 2560: Win Streak
"I’m using... dirty tactics?" Yuan could hardly believe his ears.
"So you expect me to just stand there and take your attacks?"
"I expect you to fight me properly, not run around and force me to waste my energy!" the young man exclaimed indignantly, as though he were the one being wronged.
Yuan scratched his head and asked, "So you are blaming me for your own lack of control and efficiency? Instead of wasting your energy like an idiot who refuses to learn, you should try a different approach when one method does not work."
"I am doing you a favor by letting you attack me for free, yet here you are, wasting my generosity..." Yuan shook his head.
In truth, Yuan had wanted to see how the cultivators of this world used Limitless, but he quickly realized his miscalculation.
’If I want to observe a proper cultivator, I should do so at a higher rank. Most people at the lower ranks will probably be like this amateur...’ he sighed inwardly.
Yuan used a movement technique and suddenly vanished from the young man’s sight.
"H-He vanished?!" the young man cried out loud.
Then, he heard a familiar voice resounding from behind him.
"I know I said that I’d give you ten minutes, but... I doubt anything would change even if I gave you a hundred minutes, so I will end things here."
Before the young man could react, he felt a sharp, piercing pain in his neck.
<You have died>
When the young man came to, he was back in the waiting room, a death notification floating before him.
"What the hell was that?!" the young man cried out loud.
He had watched many matches prior to participating in them himself, but he had never seen a cultivator fight the way his opponent had.
Meanwhile, Yuan was also teleported back to the waiting room after his victory.
<You have won your match>
<You have received Limitless as a reward>
<Your cultivation has reached Second Level Second Ascension>
"My cultivation increases just like that? I still have five months before the recruitment, so I might as well increase my cultivation as much as possible!"
With that in mind, Yuan immediately started matchmaking for his second fight.
A minute later, he was teleported to the arena.
This time, he found himself on a floating platform in the middle of the sea—the same arena he had seen on the display not long ago.
Standing on the opposite side of the platform was another young man, seemingly in his teens, and his cultivation was also at the Third Ascension.
The young man raised an eyebrow after seeing Yuan’s cultivation. He rubbed his eyes and looked again to make sure he wasn’t imagining things.
"Haha! A free win!"
<Match will begin in 10 seconds>
This time, Yuan remained silent as he waited for the countdown to reach zero.
Ten seconds later, the match began. The young man made the first move, attacking in a manner similar to Yuan’s previous opponent.
Yuan avoided the attack with ease, and the young man immediately followed up with another powerful attack.
"..."
"W-Why aren’t my attacks hitting him?!"
The young man exclaimed in shock.
Once the young man began to show signs of exhaustion, Yuan struck, defeating him in a single blow.
<You have won your match>
<You are on a winning streak!>
<Win Streak: 2>
<You have received Limitless as a reward>
<You have received bonus Limitless for your win streak>
<Your cultivation has reached Third Level Second Ascension>
Yuan didn’t waste any time and immediately started his next match.
Half an hour later, Yuan won his 10th match in a row.
<You have won your match>
<You are on a winning streak!>
<Win Streak: 10>
<You have received Limitless as a reward>
<You have received bonus Limitless for your win streak>
<Your cultivation has reached Sixth Level Second Ascension>
<You have won 10 matches in total>
<You have reached Novice Rank>
Over the course of those ten matches, Yuan closely observed his opponents during the first minute of each fight. Seven of them fought in a similar manner, while the opponents in the final three matches actually tried to confront him head-on.
However, they only did so after exhausting more than half of their energy.
Back in the waiting room, Yuan pondered aloud, "The cultivators of this world seem to lack stamina..."
At first, Yuan thought they were simply wasting energy without restraint, or that they didn’t know how to control it properly. However, even if that were the case, cultivators comparable to Absolute Gods should not be exhausting themselves in a few short minutes, even if they fought at full power.
"Is there a reason why they’re exhausting themselves so quickly?" Yuan wondered as he left the waiting room.
Although he wanted to continue fighting, he wasn’t alone, and, not wanting to make Officer Mei wait too long, he decided to take a break.
Once he returned to the lobby, Yuan quickly spotted Officer Mei among the crowd near the spectators’ area, watching the matches displayed overhead.
’There are a lot more people now...’ Yuan thought to himself as he approached the crowd.
"What are you watching?" he asked when he reached Officer Mei.
"Hm? You are done already?" Officer Mei responded without looking at him, her eyes fixed on the display.
Curious about what had captured her attention, Yuan turned to the display as well.
There were two individuals locked in a fierce battle, much like how normal cultivators in his world would fight.
"Hm?"
Yuan’s eyebrows rose in surprise when he saw them. However, it was not their experienced movements or their weapons that caught his attention. Rather, it was their faces—their familiar faces.
"Wang Ming and Shi Lang?" Yuan muttered in disbelief.
And just like the men Yuan knew, Wang Ming wielded a sword-like weapon, while Shi Lang fought with a long spear-like weapon.
"What are those glowing weapons they are using?" Yuan asked Officer Mei a moment later.
