Chapter 807: No parking lots again
Morning.
Commission for Discipline Inspection.
Dong Xuebing’s office.
Luo Haiting and Dong Xuebing returned to the office. She grumbled. “Liu Hanqing is too much! What is he trying to do?!”
Dong Xuebing laughed. “I think he is not trying to do anything.”
“But his attitude and tone pissed me off! How can someone talk to his superior like this?!”
“Haha…. Sister Luo, go back to work and help me watch him.”
“Leave it to me. I will report to you if he does anything peculiar.”
“Thank you. But you don’t need to be so serious. Focus on your work first.”
“Yes. Xuebing, I am going back to work. Call me if you need anything.”
Dong Xuebing would not say these to others, but he trusted Sister Luo.
Dong Xuebing took out a few case files from the shelves after Luo Haiting left his office. He read the files to familiarize himself with his work. Of course, he was also thinking about how to handle Liu Hanqing. His City’s former Executive Deputy Mayor’s mother had retired, and his father was working in the bank. He should not have any strong influence on the City Government. Dong Xuebing was in the same situation as him. Yang Zhaode was transferred away and could not help him now. His situation might be worse than Liu Hanqing’s, and he cannot use his backing to suppress him.
How should I deal with this troublemaker?
I cannot let this clown continue doing whatever he wants.
People might think Dong Xuebing was afraid of Liu Hanqing if this carried on. It will be a severe blow to Dong Xuebing’s reputation.
Dong Xuebing was also puzzled why Deputy Director Liu Hanqing dared to go against him? Luo Haiting was also the Inspection First Office Deputy Director, and Dong Xuebing could quickly transfer Liu Hanqing’s authority to her. Is he not concerned about his prospect? Showing attitude and disrespecting his superior is not a joke. Was he acting under someone? Did some leaders send him to test Dong Xuebing and try to take away his power? The higher-ups arranged Dong Xuebing’s transfer, and even the Commission for Discipline Inspection Secretary could not do anything with it. Furthermore, Dong Xuebing was acknowledged as an Earthquake Hero, and even the City Party Committee Secretary Wan Fanglei had visited him.
The only reason was Liu Hanqing had found a way out for himself. He knows he was not at risk for offending Dong Xuebing.
Dong Xuebing was unsure of his guess, but that’s the reason he could come up with. Alright. Just put it aside for now. I will just handle it as it comes.
Noon. Someone knocked on Dong Xuebing’s office.
Dong Xuebing looked up after he said to come in.
A young man and a young woman entered Dong Xuebing’s office. They are Ning Shaoyang and Zhu Zhu. “Director.”
Dong Xuebing remembered their names. “Oh, Xiao Ning and Xiao Zhu.”
Ning Shaoyang remained emotionless, and Zhu Zhu seemed surprised. She did not expect Director Dong to remember her name.
“What is it?” Dong Xuebing asked.
Zhu Zhu quickly places a card on the desk. “Office Director Gao asked me to pass this Cafeteria card to you.”
Dong Xuebing nodded. “Thank you, Xiao Zhu. I almost forgot it’s nearly lunchtime.”
“Don’t mention it.” Zhu Zhu looked at Dong Xuebing and quickly lowered her head.
Ning Shaoyang’s tone sounded more natural. He was the first person asked by Liu Hanqing to introduce himself earlier. He passed a big brown envelope to Dong Xuebing. “Director Liu asked me to give you our past few meetings’ minutes.”
Dong Xuebing looked at Ning Shaoyang. “Where is Director Liu?”
Ning Shaoyang replied. “I am not sure. He had gone out and seemed to be in a rash.”
Dong Xuebing nodded as he looked at Ning Shaoyang. “Leave it on my desk.”
“Yes.” Ning Shaoyang asked. “Do you have any instructions for us? If now, we will go back to work.”
Dong Xuebing waved his hand, and Ning Shaoyang walked towards the door. Zhu Zhu seemed to have something to say, but she hesitated before leaving with Ning Shaoyang.
The door closed.
Ning Shaoyang must be Liu Hanqing’s follower.
Dong Xuebing was not surprised to see people like Liu Hanqing when he came here. The Government sector would be a nice place to work if everyone was obedient and followed orders. Authority and respect can only be gained slowly. He looked at the brown envelope on the desk and scoffed. Liu Hanqing had said he would bring the meeting minutes to him personally. But it had been three to four hours, and a staff member brought it to his office. He did not believe Liu Hanqing was so busy that he could not spare a minute to send this document.
Lunchtime.
Dong Xuebing looked at his watch and went downstairs to have lunch.
Dong Xuebing noticed the Toyota Crown was gone from the parking lot when he walked out from the Commission for Discipline Inspection. Liu Hanqing had driven his car, leaving two empty lots. Dong Xuebing did not say anything and went back to his car. A few City Government staff members looked at him curiously as he boarded his car. He did not have lunch in the cafeteria. He drove back to the City Party Committee First Guesthouse to grab some belongings, like U-drive, files, seat cushion, etc. He had forgotten about it this morning.
After lunch.
Dong Xuebing loaded his belongings in his car and drove back to the City Party Committee Building.
Dong Xuebing did not park at the same lot he parked this morning, as that lot belonged to another department. He went straight to the Commission for Discipline Inspection building as Liu Hanqing had left, and there were available lots. As he drove closer, he noticed that Toyota Crown had returned and was parked in the outer lot. He got nearer and noticed the car was parked the same way as this morning. It had occupied two lots again.
Dong Xuebing was slightly pissed.
Liu Hanqing might have parked that way accidentally this morning. But what about this time?!
How can someone occupy two lots both times he parked? What’s the meaning of this? Did you think you are the City’s Commission for Discipline Inspection Secretary!? You are too arrogant!
Dong Xuebing stared to press his horn.
Beep… beep… beep… beep… beep… beep… beep…
The Commission for Discipline Inspection staff heard the commotion and looked out of the windows. They were shocked when they saw Dong Xuebing in the driver’s seat of a four million RMB car.
“Why is Director Dong driving a Porsche?”
“Oh…. This is Director Dong’s car? I saw it parked in front of the compound.”
“I saw this car entering our Party Committee Building yesterday and wondered which leader drove it.”
“Maybe he had borrowed it.”
“I think so too. How can a Civil servant afford this car?”
Civil servants’ salary was not high, and anyone could borrow a car.
The staff discussed among themselves and noticed Director Dong was still sounding his horn. They realized Deputy Director Liu Hanqing’s car had blocked another lot.
Zhu Zhu and Ning Shaoyang were among the crowd at the windows, and they reacted differently.
“Where did Director Dong borrow that sportscar?”
Zhu Zhu was not concerned about the car. She was more concerned about the parking lot. “Director Liu’s Toyota Crown had occupied two lots.”
Ning Shaoyang did not reply to Zhu Zhu. He was more interested in watching the show.
“I noticed it this morning.” Fei Fan sighed. He felt Liu Hanqing was too much.
Not only did the Inspection First Office hear the commotion. All other Discipline Inspection’s sub-departments heard it.
Everyone knew Liu Hanqing was not satisfied with Dong Xuebing, and he was using this method to piss him off. Of course, he might not have done this on purpose.
Beep… beep… beep….
One minute passed….
Five minutes passed….
Liu Hanqing might have pretended not to hear the commotion and did not come out to move his car. His office windows were opened, but there were no movements.
Dong Xuebing stopped pressing his horn. After all, this was the City Party Committee Building, which might piss off other leaders. He reversed his car and returned to the parking lots outside of the City Government building. At the same time, he was furious and curious about why Liu Hanqing, a Deputy Chief, dared to go against him.
Fine! Since you want to play this game, I will play with you!
No one in the City Government had heard of my nickname, the God of Plagues.
During and after the earthquake, the TV stations had reported about Dong Xuebing’s previous achievements and portrayed him as someone kind and righteous. It almost convinced him that he was such a person. But anyone who knows him knew he was just a hooligan.
Dong Xuebing was a hooligan and will forever be a hooligan!
