Monster Integration

2789 Too Big

Chapter 2796 Too Big

“Jokes aside, we have been very lucky with this bastard. If we had not struck the important part of its brain at first strike, it would have taken us a lot of time and trouble to kill this monster,” she said as she began to remove the arrows from the monster’s body.

For once, I did not have to do this job, and I couldn’t help but feel happy about it. I don’t particularly enjoy getting myself dirty, but I do it as in every battle; I am the dirtiest of us, wet in the blood of Grimms from head to two.

The sandworm did not spread much blood, and what it spread was easy to clean up; I have already cleaned myself and now just enjoying watching Rachel remove her arrows from the sandworm, which she really is not liking it at all.

“You are really good at it, Michael; I like it when you remove the arrows from our enemies,” said Rachel as she removed the sixth arrow from the still beating heart of the sandworm.

We have put a lot of holes in the bastard, but still, it is alive.

Though, not for long, even with the vitality, which is equal to that of Grimm, it would not be able to recover soon; the injuries we have brought on it are too great.

A few minutes passed, and Racheal had taken out all her arrows before cleaning herself; with that done, we waited for our reward to appear while keeping our senses focused on the sand for the slightest sound and the vibrations.

Click!

“It appeared,” said Rachel and walked toward the wooden box before opening it with the familiar click, but a second later, a look of confusion appeared on her face.

“What is it?” I asked, and she turned the box toward me, and there I found a small round button or seal on one looked at it. It is round and made of energy, and on it is the green text of some language which I couldn’t read.

“Has the box had information about it?” I asked to which she shook her head.

Most of the things did not have the information aside from potions, “Try it,” I said; only by testing it will we find its uses.

She nodded and took out the seal from the box when another surprise appeared on her face, and before I could ask what she had sensed, I saw her touching her bow with that seal, which stuck to it before melting and next moment, wavy green lines begin to spread across the bow.

It couldn’t help but shock me; I have expected many things from the seal, but not this. It completely shocked me.

“What does it do?” I asked as the bow finished with changes; now, there were three green lines across her colorless energy bow, which looked far better than its previous plain version.

“It is supposed to double the power and speed of the arrows released through the bows,” She replied softly before her eyes became clear, and she nocked the arrow into the bow and pulled the string while aiming toward the sky.

Sup!

She released the string, and the bow shot up at a speed that I was barely able to see, but it was enough for my clone, which told me the speed of the arrow had really doubled, and that had shocked me; as with such power, she had instantly become destructive.

I don’t think she will be just supported in the future battle; with her arrows having such speed and power, she now could kill the Grimms on her own, and she understood it all well, seeing the smile on her face.

A few seconds later, the arrow came down, and she caught it in the air before we began to make our way toward our destination, with more cautiousness than before, as now we had another enemy than the Grimms, and it was sneakier than them.

An hour passed, and I could see a shadow of disappointment clouding Rachel’s face; I could tell she was searching for the Grimms to test her improved weapons. If I had been in her place, I would have done the same; I mean, the upgrade is huge, and I also wanted to see what it could do against the Grimm, but there seemed to be no Grimm in sight.

Usually, this is not a problem we suffer; no matter how early we leave, they could easily catch up to us with their huge bodies and long legs.

Another hour and a half passed when we suddenly stopped, as we heard the sound of a fight, which had really caught us by surprise. One might not believe it, but we have heard more sounds of arguments of Grimms than the sounds of a fight, but what we are hearing are definitely sounds of a fight and a big one at that.

“Should we take a look at it?” asked Rachel, looking at me with hopeful eyes, “Only from a distance,” I said with a sigh. She nodded excitedly before we slowly began to move toward the Grimms.

Currently, we cannot see them, but from the sound of fights, they are not that far; they are just blocked from our view by dunes of sand between us.

More than ten minutes passed when we have climbed into the dune that gave us the view of the battle, and what we saw couldn’t help but shock us to the core.

“Oh, my god!” said Rachel as she saw the three Grimms fighting against the three sand worms, and these sandworms are huge. In front of them, what we have fought for looked like a child.

Saying they are huge would be an understatement, considering each sandworm is over thirty meters long and have a mouth that could easily turn the head of the Grimms to the paste, and the Grimms are having quite a difficulty in dealing with them.

“They have finally found something that is difficult in this place,” I said, and there was a genuine smile on my face seeing the misery of our mortal enemies.

They have had quite easy in this place; this one is a true difficult challenge they have come across, and I couldn’t help but feel ecstatic about it.

“Should we watch or leave?” she asked, and I could see why she was hesitant. There are three Grimm monsters; we have always been lucky to avoid or run away from the group of three or above Grimms because dealing with them is truly a challenge, with a very high risk of death.

“We will watch, and if one of them dies, then we will go after them,” I said, “Sure, I wanted a fight these bastards since the moment I got this sweet enhancement,” she said, looking happily at her bow.

With that, we hid ourselves even better; we didn’t want to be discovered and hunted.

I do not doubt for a bit that if one of the Grimm had discovered us, they would lead those earthworms right at us, and we are powerless against them; our little weapons, even Rachel’s doubled-powered arrows, would be completely useless.

Their size is too big for us to do anything against them.
