Chapter 2003: 24.264 Sixth Violet Star - Elf Vera and Dwarf King Garan
Borderlands
At the land in between the alliance territory and the land of the beasts, war between the four races and the beast race continues. The current leaders of the borderland troops, Lord Huzi and Beast God, Lord Mo Minkong, continue to defend their land. The beast waves were defended by them with their lives. It’s to avoid that there would be deaths during the battles and so are the injured ones. However, compared to when Gu Ying was in lead, the death count and injuries had lessened a lot.
The war between the two sides can be said to be stable. Without any side being in advantage and both in equal stance. Though this made the beastmen leader, Lord Huzi uncomfortable, there is nothing that can be done. That is unless they send a spy to sneak to the enemy’s side and don’t get caught as they leave the place, then they should be able to know what the enemy’s plans are.
While standing at the top of the walls overlooking the barren land beyond it, Lord Huzi and Mo Minkong watch the horizons looking for the changes of movement from their enemies.
Leader of the beastmen, Lord Huzi said, "A’Mo, don’t you think the attacks of the beast race towards the borders feels a bit lacking? It is as if they weren’t doing their best and seems like buying some time instead. Unlike the days when that human general is still the one defending, the attacks and waves of beasts after that are simply too weak."
"You mean they are intentionally making us people of the borders stay here? Though it is true that the beast race’s movements are now completely different than before. But that is only because they have their own leader right now." Beast God Mo Minkong said. "Is there something bugging your mind?"
"...I’m unsure but... something is definitely wrong. Have the ones sent to check on the city have returned yet?" Lord Huzi asked.
Beast God Mo Minkong frowned for a moment as he realized that the ones they had sent out before hadn’t returned yet. Not only the first batch, this is the third already.
"Maybe something had truly happened in the city. Three messengers we had sent before never returned. Do you wish to return to the city for now? I can defend these borders for you until you return." Mo Minkong suggested.
But Lord Huzi doesn’t seem so keen about this plan. He said, "No. I will not leave you in a place alone especially when the danger is unpredictable. I will send a few of our hidden guards to check on the tribe."
The Ninetailed Fox Beastman, Huzi, growls one moment and a few beastmen appear by their side.
"Return to the tribe and ask the elders about the situation in the city. Hide your presence until you reach the tribe. Split when you get close to the city and only enter the place one at a time. I’m afraid someone is killing anyone who has returned to the city from the borders."
Mo Minkong recalled the flares their youngest had given to them. It’s a flare that can be seen anywhere within the city and the meaning of each flare is something only someone from the beastmen race can understand. Once the guardian or anyone from the beastmen race sees it, they would know that something is happening.
"If something unexpected happens, use the flare. You know the hidden meaning of each flare, right? Use it as necessary, especially when you are dying." Beast God Mo Minkong said.
The hidden guards accepted the flares and they split it among themselves. The plan was too split and entered the city one at a time in secret. It seems that this return to the city had some unknown danger lurking from within. It was only when the task had been accepted that the group of hidden guards had disappeared once again.
Lord Huzi turns to look at the direction of the city and mumbles, "I hope this bad feeling wouldn’t become a reality."

Back to Alliance city...
Like how the Sovereign God of Void and Darkness had predicted, the two groups, one led by the Dwarf King Garan and the other led by Elf Vera, had bumped into one another. Since their goal location is the same, it is unavoidable that they would bump into each other on the way.
A loyalist of the Dwarf Race speaks up, "Wait, there is a movement of earth ahead of us. But these footsteps, it doesn’t seem to be humans."
"What do you mean?" Dwarf King Garan asked,
"The footsteps are light and fleeting. The numbers isn’t that big either," a dwarf said as he listened to the earth underneath them.
Dwarf King Garan turned serious and said, "Prepare for battle. Protect those who can’t fight!"
The footsteps got closer until it immediately disappeared but no one appeared before the dwarves though they can feel presence scattered in the area and the stillness and murderous intent in the air can be felt.
Dwarf King Garan thought of something.
’Light footsteps, using terrain to cover traces and control over the wind. Are they elves?’
’But can elves even come out of their hidden land? Especially when they had become the enemy of the world like us.’
’Wait? I seem to remember something. That powerful elven warrior under the former elf king. Don’t tell me this is his team? He had separated from the elves? He is decisive enough.’
The dwarfs were guarded as they felt the dangerous aura in the air. However, they saw their king step forward and suddenly speak up.
Dwarf King Garan said, "The King of Dwarfs seeks to speak to the great elven warrior, Vera!"
Silence~
There was no immediate response but the air felt even more dangerous than before Dwarf king Garan had spoken. The other dwarfs were confused yet the serious expression on Dwarf King Garan’s face remains. The silence lasted for a few minutes until a figure of an elf appeared before him. Using wind as a catalyst, Elf Vera teleported before the king of dwarfs.
Elf Vera asked, "Garan, though I expected you to be the next king after that fool took over King Vega’s throne, I never expected that you would have guessed that I came out of the water dungeon. So, how did you know?"
"Valerian’s madness, the only way to control it is to either kill him or imprison him until a way to cure him appears. In the territory of the elves only the water dungeon can lock him in but... in such a place there is a certain limitation for the qi it can hold."
"At his crazy state, regardless of his personality, Valerian has both talent and bloodline. A pureblood elf that went mad cannot control their qi and it will always be at its strongest. So, the original prisoners must be brought out and this includes you, Lord Vega."
The words of the king of dwarf startled Elf Vera for a moment. But knowing that for one to become a king, you need intelligence and other strength to possess the throne. For Dwarf King Garan to speculate to this extent shows that he is quite a good king. Though looking at the little bit survivors behind him and the fact that not even one elder dwarf remains by his side meant that the Kingdom of Dwarves is no more. Which king would leave his kingdom and run around a place far from it.
Lord Vera said, "Do you want to seek the help of the beastmen race again? Do you think they will still accept you?"
A surviving dwarf from behind the group couldn’t hold back his words when he heard what the elf in front of them had just said. Just these words alone was enough to cut off their hope in living. They were angered by it. Rage amplified by hatred made them a bit fearless.
"What the hell do you know?"
"Your race will also be gone! Do you think humans only hate us dwarves?"
"They hate you, the elves, too!"
"You will also end up like us!"
"Who are you to judge us!?"
Elf Vera’s face turned ugly at these words, but he had no right to get angry. After all, it was he who had spoken the wrong words first. Feeling the pressure and tension in the area, Dwarf King Garan turned his head to look at his people. They all shut up seeing the cold gaze of their king.
The King of Dwarfs said, "Do you think we are not in our lowest state yet? You even wanted to add more enemies? Are you not afraid of death?"
Silence
Elf Vera said, "It was me who had spoken wrong. Do not put more pressure on them. We cannot stay here for too long. The humans will notice us if we linger in this place. Let’s head to the Ancient forest as we speak."
"Agreed" said Dwarf King Garan.
He turned to look at his kin and said, "We’re leaving."
Their small group had become a medium sized one. Though that was only in consideration in numbers. In reality, except for Elf Vega and a few elves who would appear and disappear the next moment no one had seen how many were truly there in the group of Elf Vera. They took a short rest during the time when the sun was setting and hid themselves underground for a moment. They plan to move during the nightfall when most humans are supposed to be asleep.
