Chapter 6370: Song Yun’s Decision

“I knew from the moment I saw Chu Feng that he would do great things in the future, but I still underestimated him. I didn’t expect him to go this far. There are so many monstrously talented prodigies in the world of cultivation, yet he still rose to the top,” the Godwish Grandmother said.

She had to be protected by Song Yun and thus had hardly any freedom, but Song Yun would still share recent news with her. That was why she knew about Chu Feng’s accomplishments too.

“Big brother Chu Feng is Jie Ranqing’s son. His father is likely an extraordinary individual as well. I reckon he was pretending to be weak in the Great Chiliocosm Upper Realm. With such parents, it’s no wonder he became so strong,” Song Yun said with a beaming smile.

“Haa, Chu Feng has led such a tough life. Despite his incredible background, he had to slowly climb his way and undergo much suffering just because he had an unreasonable grandfather,” the Godwish Grandmother said with a sigh.

She had witnessed in person the tribulations Chu Feng had to go through.

Soon, Song Yun brought her mother to a discreet cavern. The cavern was wide and deep, reminiscent of a naturally formed palace.

But the Godwish Grandmother felt uneasy. She turned to Song Yun and reminded, “Yun’er, I sense an air of malevolence here. You must tread carefully.”

“Don’t worry, mother, I have been here. There’s no danger here,” Song Yun replied.

The Godwish Grandmother put her heart at ease. Her daughter was now far stronger than her, so her judgment was bound to be more reliable.

Venturing deep into the cavern, they stumbled upon a mural that strung into a story.

“What’s that?” The Godwish Grandmother was curious.

“It took me a long time to decipher this story. It talks about a monster in the Ancient Era, who was dying from a nigh incurable illness. It was versed in a demonic skill that allowed it to be free from its illness if it absorbed a close kin’s soul, but the monster’s only close kin was its mother.

“Upon learning of the matter, the monster’s mother willingly offered her soul to eradicate the monster’s illness. Mother, don’t you think this story is moving?” Song Yun asked.

Song Yun coughed violently, spewing a huge amount of blood before her mother could reply. Her condition was more drastic than what Chu Feng had seen earlier.

Soon, she caved in and collapsed to the floor, rolling around in pain. Her hair became unkempt, and somehow, her body became covered in some kind of bizarre blood.

The Godwish Grandmother was horrified, but she was too weak to help Song Yun. She could only rush forward to support Song Yun after she regained herself.

“I’m fine, mother,” Song Yun said feebly.

“This is not fine! Yun’er, what happened? Are you ill? Did someone beat you up? Who did this?” The Godwish Grandmother was worried. No mother could remain unfazed after seeing her child in such a state.

Instead of answering the question, Song Yun turned to her mother and feebly asked, “Mother, will you be willing to offer your life to me if I’m ill and require your life to be treated?”

The Godwish Grandmother froze up and stared at Song Yun in a daze. Conflicted emotions rippled in her eyes—there was worry, shock, and a slight hint of anger too—but she didn’t voice her thoughts aloud.

Moments later, she seemed to have come to terms with the situation. The shock and anger in her eyes faded.

“Yun’er, your illness looks tricky. You don’t have to beat around the bush if you need to take my life for your treatment. Just give the word, and I’ll offer my life to you.”

The Godwish Grandmother smiled as she reached out to tidy up Song Yun’s messy hair.

“Yun’er, you don’t have to explain anything to me. I’m useless. I can’t protect you from your enemies or shield you from the storm. If my life can heal you, please take it. You don’t have to feel guilty. At least I’m finally able to help you.

“You are the continuation of my life. From the moment you were born, I thought to myself that it doesn’t matter what happens to me for the rest of my life. All that matters is for you to grow up healthily and happily.

“Yun’er, I know you aren’t the kind of person to hold back against anyone. I know that you won’t hold back against me if I were to stand in your way. I hope you can continue being yourself and don’t get soft-hearted even toward me.”

The Godwish Grandmother closed her eyes with a smile after finishing her piece.

“Go ahead, Yun’er.”

Song Yun stared at her mother for a long time. Then, she smiled.

With a wave of her sleeves, she removed the bloodstains on the ground and her clothes with her spirit power.

“Mother, I’m joking with you. I’m perfectly fine. You can examine my condition if you don’t believe me.”

Song Yun grabbed the Godwish Grandmother’s hand and placed it on her pulse.

The Godwish Grandmother had been ready to give up her life when she heard those words. She opened her eyes and saw Song Yun’s radiant and mischievous smile, and that left her a little dazed.

Song Yun’s earlier condition didn’t seem to be an act, but her gleeful smile looked as if she was feeling triumphant after pulling off a prank.

The Godwish Grandmother couldn’t tell if Song Yun was lying or not.

Thus, she released her spirit power to inspect Song Yun’s body—the latter was indeed healthy.

“You brat! How can you scare your mother like that?!”

The Godwish Grandmother angrily smacked Song Yun’s elbow.

“Hehehe, it’s rare that I can spend time with my mother. I’m just trying to spice things up. Mother, you should head to this place. I prepared a surprise for you.”

Song Yun handed a map over.

“Is this why you brought me here?” the Godwish Grandmother looked at the map as she asked.

“Of course. Mother, you should hurry along!”

Song Yun pushed the Godwish Grandmother out of the cavern.

As soon as the Godwish Grandmother flew off, Song Yun’s smile vanished.

She re-entered the cavern and waved her sleeves. The cavern suddenly turned incredibly dark. A sinister, black formation surfaced with wails of agony. Taking a closer look, at least ten thousand souls were struggling within the formation.

These souls had been assimilated inside the formation, causing them to lose their sense of self, but they continued to suffer nevertheless.

The formation had been operating here since a long time ago.

Song Yun took out a talisman paper and tossed it into the formation. The formation transformed into a wisp of smoke and dissipated with the talisman paper.

She had just destroyed the formation.

“Haaa!” Song Yun sighed. “It’d have been much better if I’m vicious through and through.”
