Chapter 1195: A Shocking Transformation
Xia Fei and Furball were truly a master and servant pair, sharing astounding boldness. Xia Fei had forcibly done a craniotomy surgery on Fuchen, while Furball had chased after the Holy Beast Loneglean Eagle and bitten off its nose.
The Blue Bloods were extremely stunned after having witnessed everything. All of them had a bewildered look on their faces, their mouths hung agape and their eyes were wide. No one could even make sense just how crazy this pair was!
*Snap*
After a good while, that respected elderly individual among the Blue Bloods closed his mouth, eyeing both Xia Fei and Furball with a measure of suspicion. He was none other than the patriarch of the Blue Blood Zadins, Roderick, who dominated a corner of the Annihilation universe.
“Your pet went to chase after the Lonegleam Eagle?” Roderick asked with a frown.
Xia Fei petted Furball on his head and noncommittally answered, “That seems to be the case.”
“Why didn’t you stop him? He took a great risk going after the well-known vicious brute, the Lonegleam Eagle!” Roderick exclaimed. From his tone, it seemed he thought Roderick was someone who liked exotic beasts, and he was blaming Xia Fei for not taking good care of his exclusive beast!
Xia Fei ignored Roderick, and instead fed Furball more food, replenishing the energy he lost. He was full of praise, “Beautifully done, you scamp! Who’s my exotic beast? So, did you manage to kill that Lonegleam Eagle?”
啪~
Furball could understand what Xia Fei had said, and shook his head slightly.
Xia Fei replied with a hint of disappointment, “Well, that’s fine. This time they had more people on their side, so you must remember that if we ever run into a similar situation like today, you either do nothing, or if you do, you must strike to kill!”
The master and the servant were having quite an intimate conversation. Xia Fei instructed Furball on how to kill their enemies in front of everyone, in a manner that was as vicious as they come.
Roderick instantly understood that this cute little ball of fur had only done such a crazy maneuver because he was influenced by his master. The saying about how an exotic beast would act in a certain way in accordance with how their master conducted themselves appeared to ring true.
There was a blurred flash, and a Blue Blood scout appeared beside Roderick. He leaned in to whisper a few words into his ear, causing a drastic change in expression on Roderick. He waved his hand, leaving in a hurry with his men.
“Don’t go running around. Right now, the entire system has been shut down, so you should just wait here patiently,” Soza instructed Xia Fei and the rest before he departed.
After those Blue Bloods were quite a distance away from them, Xia Guanghai stowed away his Soul Weapon Detonation, turning his head around to ask, “Who were those people?”
Xia Fei glanced over at Zesyr and Anzu Night. Xia Fei naturally trusted Xia Guanghai, Oro, and Ulan, so he had no qualms about telling them.
However, he did not feel the same about the siblings. No matter how meek Anzu appeared to be, and how much admiration Zesyr showed toward Xia Fei, he had never been the sort who could easily trust others. There was no way for that to happen unless they were like Oro, someone who had been in a life and death situation with him.
“Just some friends. They don’t have any ill intent toward us,” Xia Fei said simply.
Xia Guanghai could tell that this was a topic Xia Fei did not wish to speak of, so he shook his head and inadvertently swept his gaze over to Zesyr. Honestly speaking, she was a pretty girl, and he found it hilarious that Xia Fei was someone with a one-track mind, able to view pretty women as nothing, completely unlike how most men.
His eyes squinted, Xia Fei said, “You guys can tell the cultivation they have. They are very strong; these are the kind of people who have control of the entire Collapsed Expanse of the Founders. It’s unfortunate that they seem to have run into some problems right now.”
“There are even others that dare provoke those people?” Oro found it hard to believe. He was just a level 1 Founder, and so he naturally had great admiration for these warriors from the Annihilation Universe.
Xia Fei answered, “There’s always someone stronger. If the Collapsed Expanse of the Founders was not in trouble, these people would not have taken such a long time to arrive. Seeing how serious they looked when they left, I believe something wrong must have happened with the Dark Spiritualists again.”
Changing the topic, Xia Fei chuckled, “But this isn’t our problem, so let’s not be bothered by them. When gods fight, there’s no reason for us mortals to worry blindly over it.”
Xia Fei knew that if they did not talk, the siblings from the Venus of Eternal Night would definitely feel dissatisfied, so he did not miss a beat and directed the conversation away to more mundane matters.
Zesyr’s eyes brightened. Love for a person extended even to the crows on their roof. A simple analysis from Xia Fei was enough to draw limitless admiration from the girl, and upon mentioning the Dark Spiritualists, she was once again reminded of the time when Xia Fei had saved her life. As such, Zesyr’s heart was thumping madly, slowly growing uneasy inside.
*Cough*
Fuchen spat out another mouthful of fresh blood, opening his mouth and appearing as if he wanted to say something.
Xia Fei hurried over to his side, and took Fuchen from Ulan’s hands. He gestured for him to not get overly excited. Xia Fei pulled out a bottle of light blue liquid for him to drink, and at the same time examined his seventh brain region.
…..
Time passed very quickly, and everyone gradually grew restless. The Collapsed Expanse of the Founders had already come to a halt, and before the system was being rebooted, everyone was trapped in this prison, uncertain when they could leave.
Since Zesyr was a woman, she had taken on the job of caring for Fuchen. She was constantly wiping his body and forehead, and massaging his back and shoulders. As a lady of the distinguished Venus of Eternal Night, when had she ever found herself in a servant’s role? This was a really trying time for her right now.
Fuchen’s condition was slowly getting better, but he was still in this semi-conscious state, a fever breaking out every few hours.
…
When Xia Fei had first attempted his surgery on someone as powerful as Fuchen, he was not really confident that he could succeed. But after seeing how everything turned out, he was glad that Fuchen’s life was at least no longer tethering on a knife’s edge.
Forty-eight hours later, Fuchen was able to speak, and Ulan fed him a few Golden Sunflower Seeds, which helped speed up his recovery.
Still hesitant to speak, Fuchen still appeared to have words for Xia Fei. Xian Guanghai was more observant, so he dragged the still confused siblings off to one side, while Oro knowingly strolled away to somewhere in the distance to drink some wine.
Now that it was just Fuchen, Xia Fei, and Ulan around, Xia Fei asked, “Is something the matter? You may speak now.”
Fuchen somewhat feebly said, “Actually, the one who injured me wasn’t Nan Shazi.”
Ulan was surprised, but Xia Fei answered without batting an eyelid, “I already know that.”
Ulan turned his head and eyed Xia Fei quizzically, “How did you know?”
Xia Fei proceed to tell them about what happened when he was in the Evil Shadow Dragon Tower, before stating, “When the system mentioned that the Dark Spiritualists had broken the rule of the Gods and Demon System, I already realized that this was not something mere Dark Spiritualists could do. After all, this was a system that an Annihilator expert had set. There’s no way someone like Nan Shazi would be able to break this.”
“Later, when I first asked to be transported here, Soza did not follow me. He is someone who is in control of the Collapsed Expanse of the Founders. Now that something has happened, he would of course come rushing over the first chance he had. But instead, he returned to call for reinforcements. That just goes to show that he had his reservations about this matter, and anything that could elicit such a response from a man of his caliber would definitely not be simply Nan Shazi and his men.”
“Third, I’ve spent quite a lot of effort helping you break your sealed brain region, and while Nan Shazi might be a little stronger than you, I don’t think he would be that much more powerful. If it was just him alone, there was no way he would have been able to injure you so grievously. I witnessed your strength not too long ago, and the most capable disciple of Nan Shazi, Shu Yuhe, was also been beaten soundly by your hands.”
Fuchen and Ulan’s eyes shone. Xia Fei’s analysis and inference skills were as heaven-defying as ever. Fuchen did not even say a word, yet Xia Fei already knew what he was trying to get at.
“Indeed, the situation is exactly as you’ve inferred. The one who grievously injured me, and has ruined the system, was not Nan Shazi. He merely sent his exclusive exotic beast, the Lonegleam Eagle, and Shu Yuhe here to keep me detained. Meanwhile, he disappeared without a trace afterwards,” Fuchen said as he recounted what had happened.
Xia Fei waved his hand dismissively, “There’s an old saying from my homeworld: There’s someone mighty propping up the heavens. This isn’t our problem anyway, and so even if there’s trouble, it is on those Annihilators. You should just rest up. No point worrying about those old monsters.”
Fuchen really eased up after hearing what Xia Fei said. Despite his youth, Fuchen really felt reassured having Xia Fei preside over the situation.
He could not help but recall the words his exclusive soul, Wraith, had said: ‘If there were more stubborn souls like Xia Fei in the sect, we might have had a different outcome.’
Fuchen closed his eyes slightly as he mulled over that thought. He regulated his breathing, feeling plenty of emotions rolling around inside him. This time Fuchen had truly felt as if he had undergone a rebirth, and felt a lot more cheerful than before. He had spent his life running around for the sake of his sect, only to end up getting expelled from it. If such a situation were to occur with Xia Fei, it would never have happened in the first place.
Many people had found themselves in similar circumstances. They would suddenly find themselves having an epiphany over those things that they originally could not let go off after suffering a big accident.
“Fuchen’s actually smiling?” Ulan turned around and whispered after Xia Fei and he had walked a good distance away.
“Perhaps he finally made sense of something,” XIa Fei commented as he lit himself a cigarette.
Ulan sighed, “That’s a rare sight. Fuchen has plenty of things that he has buried in his heart, so it’s not often that he will let loose. But just how bad is his injury? Will this sealing of his brain region cause harmful after-effects?”
Xia Fei tossed the cigarette to the ground and stomped it out. He said with a heavy heart, “We don’t really know for sure yet, but I have a very bad feeling about it.”
…
The control center of the Fallen Expanse of the Founders…
The Blue Bloods, as well as several experts that had joined them afterwards, quickly took over the place. The one who gave the order was the Zadin Clan’s Patriarch, Roderick, a very ugly expression on his face. Meanwhile, the two who were originally controlling the system, the white bearded man and that beardless man, could not believe their eyes. They had no idea what happened that had instantly drawn so many bigwigs out here.
…
“Sector Six, report!” the imposing Roderick ordered solemnly.
“It’s been cleared out.”
“Sector Seven?!” Roderick continued grimly.
“Sector Seven has been severely infiltrated, with more than half losses.”
Information trickled in, and the expressions of the experts present turned uglier by the second. The statistics were hardly optimistic.
Leaning back heavily on his chair, Roderick shut his eyes, his eyelids twitching constantly. It was obvious that he was in a very bad mood right now.
“Patriarch, the final results are in. The Dark Spiritualists, as well as their henchmen, have practically plundered half of the resources in the Collapsed Expanse of the Founders, and have completely absconded away with them,” a Blue Blood warrior reported in a small voice somewhat hesitantly.
Soza sighed, lamenting, “Half of the riches in the Collapsed Expanse of the Founders are now in the hands of the Dark Spiritualists. It looks like Alpha, and perhaps all the Spiritualist Association from the Lower Five Stars, will be completely broken. I’m afraid all that awaits them will be suffering.”
Roderick shook his head slightly, and said in a hoarse voice, “That is naturally what will happen, but what I’m even more worried about here is ourselves. I’m afraid there might be another traitor in the Annihilation Universe. A serious betrayal!”
