*Snap*

This sound was not loud, akin to what one might hear when ice cracks on the surface of a frozen lake.

However, an earth-shattering change came with the sound!

Everyone watched as the two black Fiendwings on Xia Fei’s back broke off!

“Your Fiendwings! They broke!” Xu Luanbu shouted as he froze in his tracks.

Chu Jingfeng did not say a word. He examined Xia Fei with a shocked expression as four words reverberated in his mind. Or to be precise, a person’s name!

Broken Wing Sky Devil! Broken Wing Sky Devil! Broken Wing Sky Devil!

Everyone knew that the Fiend race had four Great Sky Devils, and that it was due to their existence that the Fiends had managed to grow from a small clan on the borders of the universe into the third major sapient race, able to rival the humans and Bluebloods! They became the undisputed kings of stratagems and tactics!

One among the four was called the Broken Wing Sky Devil, who went by the name of Paletooth. He was a speedster, and he had used a pair of broken Fiendwings.

A very long long time ago, the Four Great Sky Devils had departed mysteriously, and had not returned since.

After the fight to the death against the Megadragons and the eradication of the Fiends, it was only now that Xia Fei, someone of the Fiend Bloodline, had similarly had his Fiendwings broken!

Just what did that mean?!

Xia Fei was not a true Fiend, yet he did have a portion of their blood in him. The Broken Wing Sky Devil Paletooth was a speedster, just like Xia Fei. The Broken Wing Sky Devil got his name because of the broken wings on his back, and that was now the same for Xia Fei!

Chu Jingfeng could feel his brain wanting to explode with the implications. There were too many fantastical thoughts running through his mind, and for some unknown reason, when he saw Xia Fei’s Fiendwings break off, the first thought that came to his mind was the Broken Wing Skydevil, Paletooth!

*Huuuu*

Xia Fei squatted down on the ground, his head lowered. His heavy and haggard breathing made him appear very relieved.

His two broken Fiendwings stumps resembled two blades on his back.

The two wings were floating in mid-air. Having lost their owner, they looked like fallen sails, appearing somewhat helpless.

The wind blew, and the originally formless Fiendwings scattered, like black soot that covered God’s Eden with a layer of ash.

Chu Jingfeng and Xu Luanbu lifted their heads up reflexively, reaching out a hand to grab the gray remains of the Fiendwings. However, this gray matter turned intangible and passed through their fingers before finally falling down on the ground.

No one thought that a miraculous scene would appear after the remains of the Fiendwings landed on God’s Eden.

The garden that had already fallen into a dilapidated condition actually came alive! Fresh flowers blossomed from within the weeds, almost as if the turn of spring had come!

Chu Jingfeng was in a frenzy, watching the changes happen with great incredulity. He gulped audibly before charging into the garden so he could closely examine this surprising transformation.

Xia Fei had already gotten up to his feet by this point. He looked skinnier than he was before, though he was still fairly spirited.

He lit a cigarette and walked up beside Xu Luanbu before coming to a halt.

Furball and Little Goldie saw that their master was fine and happily leapt into Xia Fei’s arms. Radix also floated nearby, carefully observing Xia Fei’s Fiendwing stumps.

*Whoosh*

Xia Fei’s Fiendish energy was dissipating, even as his broken wings gradually disappeared.

“Why did your Fiendwings break?” Xu Luanbu asked curiously.

Xia Fei shook his head, “I have no idea. The instant I broke the threshold of Peak level Law of Speed, the Fiendwings kept propelling me to keep accelerating, not allowing me to slow down at all, only until the end when they broke off. Everything happened without me being consciously aware of what was transpiring.”

“Did it hurt?”

Xia Fei chuckled, “The Fiendwings were originally formless, so how could I have felt any pain?”

That was when they heard Chu Jingfeng yell from afar, “Come here quick! Come take a look!”

Xia Fei and Xu Luanbu were startled, and rapidly made their way to Chu Jingfeng’s side. All they saw was the old man sprawled over by the edge of that final pool of Lifewater as he watched the water’s surface in excitement.

Chu Jingfeng pointed to the center of the pool as he exclaimed, “I don’t believe this. Lifewater is flowing anew! This is a miracle! It’s the sign that God’s Eden has recovered!”

Xia Fei and Xu Luanbu hurriedly inspected it closely. They spotted some tiny bubbles rising from the center of the pool, almost like the effervescence one might see from an opened bottle of champagne. Water was flowing from underground, and while it was not much, it was definitely a sign that the pool was rejuvenating!

Chu Jingfeng looked up to the stars, barely able to contain his excitement as tears flowed freely down his face.

The situation had developed in this completely unexpected trajectory, such that God’s Eden was actually rejuvenating its lifeforce?!

Chu Jingfeng and Xu Luanbu both held the belief that Xia Fei’s broken Fiendwings and God’s Eden rejuvenation were closely linked. The Fiendwings breaking were equivalent to Xia Fei losing a weapon in his arsenal, and that was originally a bad thing. But God’s Eden had thus rejuvenated because of it, so it had turned this negative into a positive!

Chu Jingfeng and Xu Luanbu were now very busy, the master and disciple taking a field trip to inspect the huge God’s Eden, hoping to uncover more evidence that life was returning to this place.

After some time, Chu Jingfeng and Xu Luanbu rushed back to Xia Fei, giddy with glee. Chu Jingfeng pulled out his notebook and loudly declared, “There are a total of 1280 springs across God’s Eden. Now one of the springs has returned, and the underground humidity for four springs is on the rise too! Those are definitely signs that God’s Eden has begun to rejuvenate!”

Xia Fei nodded, “Then have the fruits and all the amazing plants that grew rampantly throughout the garden, have they returned as well?”

Chu Jingfeng remarked, “These springs of Lifewater are the basis of God’s Eden. As long as the springs of Lifewater have recovered, the underground water system of the entire garden will return. Water is the source of life, and first the water system must return to normal. But it is my belief that as these springs begin to pour forth, and the pools of Lifewater begin to collect, the plants in God’s Eden will make a comeback once more!”

Chu Jingfeng was not wrong in his assessment. Plants could not grow away from water, and what God’s Eden demanded was not normal water, but the powerful Lifewater. Only when they had enough of that spring’s source could God’s Eden bloom again!

“Do you know exactly the reason why the springs are flowing again?” Xia Fei asked them.

Chu Jingfeng pointed at Xia Fei, “Of course! You!”

“Me?” Xia Fei was speechless. This was the first time he had taken a step in God’s Eden, and he had not completely made sense of everything that had transpired here, so how could he be linked to the Garden’s rejuvenation?

“The Broken Wing Sky Devil! You’re exactly like the Broken Wing Sky Devil, Lord Paletooth right now!” Chu Jingfeng was excited. “A very long time ago, from my grandfather’s generation there began this suspicion, wondering why the garden began to languish and wither away when the Four Great Sky Devils departed.

“So many blamed my grandfather for failing to take care of God’s Eden, nearly aggravating him to death, but I must let you know that my grandfather took care of God’s Eden in the exact same manner when the Lord Sky Devils were here or not. He was diligent, and was never slack in his duties.”

“Besides, it was Gale Sky Devil, the Medicinal Cauldron Prince, who had personally instructed my grandfather on how he should be taking care of God’s Eden, so how could it be wrong?!”

Xia Fei nodded his head slightly. The Chu Clan was proficient in miscellaneous studies, so if they lacked the capability, they would not have been chosen by the Four Great Sky Devils to become the gardeners of God’s Eden. Xia Fei was also very confident in Chu Jingfeng’s grandfather’s ability in this regard.

“It was only today that I finally realized! God’s Eden was the Sky Devil’s garden, and it’s akin to you and your Holy Beast Shatterstar. If you were to leave, what would happen to Shatterstar?” Chu Jingfeng asked him.

Xia Fei was surprised by the sudden question, but he looked at Furball and said, “I’m afraid Furball would be very sad.”

“That’s exactly it!” Chu Jingfeng declared firmly. “God’s Eden has a soul of its own! When the Four Great Sky Devils left, God’s Eden must have felt lonely, and so slowly languished as time went by.”

“But what has that got to do with me?” Xia Fei asked again.

“Don’t you understand? When your Fiendwings broke off, that meant you’ve already freed yourself from some kind of restriction! Whether in terms of your aura or appearance, you’ve begun to develop in the direction of the Broken Wing Sky Devil Paletooth! God’s Eden must have felt the similarity in your Aura with its old owner of the past, which is why it has regained its lifeforce!” Chu Jingfeng explained fervently.

Xia Fei shrugged. He felt that the connection between his Fiendwings breaking off and the moniker of the Broken Wing Sky Devil to be too far-fetched. Subconsciously, Xia Fei felt that he was a human being, someone who ate fried pasta noodles and smoked cigarettes. He felt uncomfortable hearing Chu Jingfeng liken him to an old monster like the Broken Wing Sky Devil.

But Xia Fei could not deny that without the Fiendwings, he instead felt much more at ease, and his Fiendish Aura did not weaken, but instead became even stronger.

After a pause, Chu Jingfeng said once more, “The Broken Wing Sky Devil Paletooth was also a speedster, and his Fiendwings broke, just like yours did. This happens to reflect an ancient truth of the universe.”

“What is this truth?” Xia Fei wondered.

“Everything in the universe, unbroken and unestablished. Only after things are broken can precedence be set, becoming unparalleled under the heavens!” Chu Jingfeng said. “Breaking off your Fiendwings is similar to transcending to a brand new realm! Right now, you’re just like Lord Paletooth, both of you having a pair of broken wings! That is why the limits of speed you can achieve are also the Broken Wing Sky Devil’s limits!”

Xia Fei was shocked!

If he possessed the same speed potential as the Broken Wing Sky Devil Paletooth, then that would surely be something worth being thrilled over!

Everyone knew that the speedster Paletooth was the fastest! No one could beat him in that aspect!

A normal speed warrior would have a limit of sixty million meters per second, which was the current standard that the Skywing Clan’s Grand Ancestor Xia Gucheng possessed. Meanwhile, the limits that the Broken Wing Sky Devil had definitely went beyond that.

With a speed that was as keen as a knife’s edge, even just edging over the known speed limit was an amazing thing. To become like the Broken Wing Sky Devil? Xia Fei had never once considered it, nor did he dare to even dream of it.

But the situation right now had proven that after Xia Fei’s Fiendwings were broken, God’s Eden was experiencing a rebirth!

Xia Fei, Chu Jingfeng, Xu Luanbu all became very excited. They were looking forward with great expectations to their future. They all began to restore the garden back to its former looks, cleaning the drains, removing weeds, and making repairs to the walls.

Xia Fei was a speedster, so of course he moved quickly. It took just a little over a day for God’s Eden to look completely renovated. Pebblestone paths were completely swept clean, and aside from the lack of amazing plants, God’s Eden looked no different from how it appeared to be before.

After everything was done, Chu Jingfeng brought Xia Fei over to the pool, and buried the Grand Silken White Rain Lotus in a hole he dug in the wet loam beside the pool of Lifewater.

The first plant of God’s Eden thus took root once again!
