Chapter 3818: It's Him?
Mr. Mo's eyes turned icy. “Well done, Long Yin. Are you not afraid of being punished by your Great Master? For countless years, Deathmound has not once interfered in the conflicts of the major powers and has only arrested those who violated the laws. You have just broken Deathmound’s own rules.”
Long Yin’s expression remained calm. “The Great Master will find a reason to reduce my punishment. You don’t need to worry at all.”
Mr. Mo’s face twitched, and the people nearby exchanged glances. It was difficult to deal with such bluntness, and oddly enough, some people found themselves slightly envious.
Long Yin was known as the Ten‑Foot Blade, as she was supposedly invincible within ten feet. However, she was most famous for her battle technique Dragon Requiem, which was a mutually-destructive move. She claimed that it guaranteed that she would die together with a single target.
“I want to die, and I’ve been looking for a chance to take someone with me. Would you like to give it a try?”
That was her catchphrase, and it demonstrated her confidence in the Dragon Requiem.
No one questioned the terrifying power of that technique. It was common knowledge in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse that, if Long Yin died, she would undoubtedly take one expert down with her, and it could be absolutely anyone beneath the Immortal realm.
That was why, for so many years, no one had dared to mess with the women of Deathmound’s Third Peak.
Deathmound was in and of itself a terrifying organization. Deathmound killed people, but no one dared to kill anyone from Deathmound. This domineering position came not from the fact that there was an Immortal supporting Deathmound or that they had been entrusted with authority by the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, but rather from the power of Deathmound’s own people. They were cultivators who feared nothing, and each lord was as mad as they were powerful.
Chao Yi was like that, and so was Long Yin.
Mr. Mo was rendered speechless, but he did not dare to attack. He was so angry that he actually laughed. “Fine, fine! Since you want to intervene, Long Yin, then so be it. Let’s see what excuse the Great Master can find to lighten your punishment. One day, Deathmound will fall because of people like you.”
With that, the man turned around and left without another word.
There were odd expressions as the crowd stared at Long Yin and Lu Yin. This might be the first time that anyone had gotten the better of the Autumnspring Slip while under the sect’s own roof.
The mustachioed disciple fled in shame.
the patriarch of Linlu Manor did not dare to so much as lift his head.
In the distance, the members of the Luo family watched on happily.
Shui Su grew increasingly nervous, and she kept glancing at Long Yin, who was standing right beside her. Deathmound. This woman’s from Deathmound, the most untouchable force in the entire megaverse! Is this really what they’re like? This far exceeds anything in the stories.
The crowd gradually dispersed.
The disciples of the Autumnspring Slip moved as far away as possible. Long Yin’s presence meant that no one would dare to set up another book stall until Deathmound left.
Lu Yin was staring at Long Yin’s back, and the woman eventually turned around.
She was standing less than a meter from Lu Yin, as she had moved directly between him and Mr. Mo. When she turned around, there was hardly any space between her and Lu Yin.
The faint scent of blood on the woman was unmistakable. She just stared at Lu Yin.
Lu Yin had no intention of retreating, and he simply stared back. The scene was a bit strange.
The women from the Third Peak exchanged glances before quietly moving back, and even Shui Su instinctively copied them.
As space opened up around the two people, they remained close to each other. Their proximity was such that many people swallowed hard at the growing tension. Silently, many admired Lu Yin’s courage. No one had ever dared to stand so close to Long Yin before.
Long Yin was known as One-Zhang Blade Long Yin because her blade qi only extended a single zhang from her body. All who fought her needed to stay out of her blade qi’s range. Within that range, even the Autumnspring Slip’s Master Scribe, Ying Mei, might not be able to handle the peak lord.
While it was true that Long Yin had become a peak Dukkhan by accepting a Seed Transfusion, after receiving guidance from the Great Master, Long Yin’s combat strength was absolutely terrifying.
Anyone who had been personally selected by the Great Master to join Deathmound had to be beyond exceptional.
The only people who would willingly stand so close to Long Yin either knew her well or had a death wish.
No one believed that Lu Yin was strong enough to fight against Long Yin. He was simply too young. Not even a genius from the Scion Spire was capable of that.
“Thanks for helping me,” Lu Yin said as he continued to stare at Long Yin. “But you seem to be in my way.”
Long Yin met his gaze. “So?”
“So could you please take your people from Deathmound and leave? All of the book stalls have been scared off.”
“Alright.”
“Thanks.”
Long Yin picked up a foot and strolled off. “Deathmound, move out!”
The women of Deathmound were taken aback. They were leaving? Just like that? While reluctant, not one of the women dared to disobey Long Yin’s command.
Suddenly, Long Yin hesitated. “When will you visit Deathmound?”
Lu Yin took a moment to consider the question. “I don’t know.”
Long Yin asked no further questions and simply left.
Those who overheard the exchange were startled. Did the two actually know each other?
The women of the Third Peak were more stunned than anyone else. Not one of them remembered ever meeting Lu Yin before. How did their peak lord know him?
Shui Su was also quite curious. She glanced back and forth between the retreating group from Deathmound and Lu Yin. Her questions were becoming harder to hold back.
From the very first glance that they had exchanged, even across a vast distance, Lu Yin had known that Long Yin had recognized him. She had not taken action to help him, but simply so that she could speak with him.
He was not certain what sort of impression he had left on Deathmound.
The Autumnspring Slip had not expected the people of Deathmound to leave so soon, but as soon as they received confirmation that everyone from Deathmound had left, the disciples excitedly set up their stalls again. There was no longer any need to play hide-and-seek.
Lu Yin approached a stall, glanced at the characters for sale, and moved on. He repeated these actions at the next stall, and the next, until he reached the sixth stall. There, he pointed at a character. “I want that one.”
The Autumnspring Slip disciple stared at him. “It’s not for sale.”
Lu Yin smiled. “Why not?”
“If it’s not for sale, then it’s not for sale! I don’t like your face—is that a problem?” the disciple retorted.
Lu Yin responded with a slight smile and then abruptly shot forward, his hand settling on the character that he had pointed out. It was the Near (近) character. The moment his hand made contact, the nearby void twisted and warped. It stretched and shrank erratically, layers of distorted space overlapping and colliding with each other as a terrifying power shot straight into the sky.
Countless eyes looked upwards. Was this the strength of a Dukkhan?
The vendor at the book stall was horrified. “Stop!”
It was already too late. The character's power had been released, and it was impossible to reclaim it.
He let out a furious, grief-stricken roar. “You’re courting death!”
Lu Yin just sneered and continued on to another stall. There was soon another burst of power that shot into the sky. This time, it was the White (白) character, and it caused the entire world to turn stark white. Even experienced Ortusers were unable to see anything clearly; their perception had become blurry.
After that, Lu Yin moved on.
Lu Yin fully released his runes, no longer caring if anyone noticed what he was doing. Things had already gone too far.
Shortly after that, powerful attacks continued to shoot upwards. They not only originated from book stalls, but also from underground, the void, and even lakes. It seemed as though all of Ridgeplain was erupting chaotically as a grand assortment of characters were unleashed.
From atop the bamboo slip in the sky, Mr. Mo peered down with absolute fury etched across his features.
Qian Shu and the others who had been idly chatting with him were drawn out by the commotion. They stepped to the edge of the Autumnspring Slip and looked down. “What’s going on?”
The sect’s elders all emerged as well. It was clear that something serious was happening.
Lu Yin continued to stroll across Ridgeplain. Each step seemed to cover almost no distance at all, but with each one, another character’s power was released.
“Stop!” The shout came from atop the floating bamboo slip as multiple Ortusers attacked as one.
From far away, blade qi flickered. Long Yin had taken action. She had not actually left, as she was observing the events from far away, along with the rest of the women from Deathmound.
Mr. Mo was livid. Again, that woman was interfering. He lashed out, but this time, he did not hold back at all.
Long Yin was too far away, and her specialty was fighting within a distance of one zhang. Her blade qi could not reach Mr. Mo, nor could she stop his attack.
“Peak Lord, is he...?” a woman from the Third Peak asked, startled by the sudden turn of events.
Long Yin remained calm. She knew that, in the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse, very few people beneath the Immortal realm could defeat the man she was watching. She was quite curious; just what kind of strength did he possess that he had dared to use the Spirit Nidus itself as leverage to threaten the Nine Odysseys Megaverse? If nothing else, his courage was without equal.
Compared to the entire megaverse, the Autumnspring Slip was utterly insignificant.
Bang!
The void exploded, and the characters shattered. Mr. Mo staggered back, shocked by the outcome. “The Five-Palm Art?!”
Lu Yin stood on the bank of a river, extracting a character from under a rock. He had not even turned his head while lashing out with a palm strike that had shattered Mr. Mo’s character. Lu Yin had used the Five-Palm Art.
Across Ridgeplain, Lang Ruyu and Si Jiushi were still being attacked from all sides, unable to break free.
As soon as Lu Yin’s palm strike lashed out, the two men grew excited, thinking that someone else from their sect had finally arrived.
Si Jiushi looked across the distance, only to see Lu Yin.
Lu Yin sensed the fat man’s eyes and looked back, smiling at Si Jiushi.
The fatty’s jaw dropped. “It’s- it’s him!”
The moment he laid eyes on Lu Yin, Si Jiushi felt like the sky had gone dark. It was as if a massive pot had just slammed down upon the region.
The people of the Autumnspring Slip were not the only ones to look over when the Five-Palm Art appeared; the people of the Spirit Coalition also noticed it.
Yu Ru, Xiu Zhan, and the others from the Spirit Coalition moved towards Lu Yin. “Are you from the Five-Palm Sect?”
The members of the Skyward Gate’s Luo family were similarly stunned. Just who was this man?
Lu Yin smirked as he glanced around. “Isn’t that obvious?”
Yu Ru instantly grew furious. The White Jade Clan had disguised people as members of the War Clan and then sent them to attack the Five-Palm Sect in an attempt to start a fight between the clan and the sect. However, the Five-Palm Sect had inexplicably attacked the Brocade Clan instead, which had revealed the White Jade Clan’s plot. This had led the White Jade Clan to hate the Five-Palm Sect even more than the War Clan. Yu Ru lost all control when he saw an arrogant cultivator from the Five-Palm Sect. “Get him!”
The members of the White Jade Clan all instantly attacked.
The members of the Brocade Clan exchanged glances, but they did not attack. They simply wanted an explanation for the attack that they had suffered. They did not want to become the Five-Palm Sect’s enemy. Those people were all insane.
Lu Yin raised a hand, and he struck down with another palm strike.
Boom!
The ground trembled, and terrifying shockwaves swept out in all directions. Every member of the Spirit Coalition was thrown back, including the members of the Brocade Clan who had done nothing. They were affected simply because they had been too close.
That solitary attack shook all of Ridgeplain. There was no doubt that it possessed the power of a Dukkhan, and it far surpassed anything that Lang Ruyu or Si Jiushi could unleash.
The two men stared at the palm strike, their mouths hanging open. It had simply been too vicious.
Ming Xiaolong stared down, astonished. It was surprising to discover that Lu Yin knew the Five-Palm Art. His first palm strike had succeeded in stunning everyone in Ridgeplain.
He had already revealed his entire plan: expose the hidden characters and slap the Autumnspring Slip across the face. However, just what was his goal? The Worldscript was an important gathering, but not to the point where ruining it could force the Autumnspring Slip to release Ming Xiaochou. So what was Lu Yin doing?
Lu Siyu grew excited. “Nice one! Beat them up! That was awesome!”
Qian Shu’s expression fell. Another person was stirring up trouble during the Worldscript. Had the Autumnspring Slip really been quiet for so long that people had forgotten just how powerful their sect was?
Granny Ya spoke softly, “Allow me to intervene. He is extremely strong.”
Qian Shu glanced at the young lady who stood nearby, and then he nodded. “Just a show of strength.”
Granny Ya acknowledged her orders, but just as she was about to move out, Qian Shu’s pupils suddenly shrank. “Wait!”
Granny Ya frowned. “What’s wrong?”
Qian Shu was staring down at Lu Yin on the ground. He looks familiar. Where have I seen him before?
He simply could not remember, but Qian Shu’s instincts caused his entire body to grow cold. This feeling only appeared when one brushed against death. How could he have no memory of such a man?
“Do you know him?”
Granny Ya looked down at Lu Yin and frowned.
Right then, Lu Yin looked up at the bamboo slip and met Qian Shu’s gaze.
At that moment, both the man and Granny Ya were startled and shouted, “It’s him?”
The people surrounding the two turned to look at them. “Brother Qian Shu, do you know him?”
