Chapter 3921: Methods
This was the plan that they had agreed upon during the Fifth Night Pillar’s five-year voyage.
While it was impossible to determine all of the Allsenses’ attack channels right now, it was clear that they only had one target: humans.
If a person died, there was no question that there was an Allsense creature inside them. Because of that, if anything happened to someone, the people around them needed to immediately erase the afflicted person, as well as their surroundings, in order to completely eliminate the Allsense creature.
This was not cold-bloodedness, but an absolutely necessary measure.
Anyone whose organs had been replaced by Allsenses could not survive. This had been tested in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. An afflicted person might as well have been transformed into another species, albeit a dead one. Not even an Immortal Greater Sancte could create a person out of nothing.
Because of this, when fighting in the Allsense Megaverse, the greatest taboo was to never give an Allsense a chance to invade one’s body. By the time pain appeared, it was already too late.
If an Allsense could kill a cultivator, it meant that the creatures had acquired a new channel of attack. Others would not be able to react in time, which meant that complete eradication was the only valid solution.
If the creatures could only attack through sound, scent, and sight, then the first three Night Pillars would not have suffered such tragic casualties.
Until the situation in the Allsense Megaverse was fully understood, there was only one course of action that could be followed.
Everyone aboard the Fifth Night Pillar was gathered in a single location, and they all stood guard facing outward in a hedgehog formation. They would not give the Allsenses any openings to exploit while Lu Yin went to gather information.
If not even Lu Yin was able to gather information, then it meant that only an Immortal could do so.
Unless everyone on the Night Pillar died, they would certainly get some information.
However, as soon as Lu Yin’s consciousness enveloped the Sixth Night Pillar, his expression fell.
Not a single living person was on that Night Pillar. There were corpses piled high as far as the eye could see. The war drums had been shattered and were stained with blood. Liu Li’s corpse still lay on the severed surface, her blood having flowed down the flat plane. Another corpse rendered Lu Yin silent. He had found Lu Jing, the swordsman from the Four Commands Sword Sect. He had also perished on the Sixth Night Pillar.
Lu Yin stared at Lu Jing’s body, vividly remembering the man’s Timeless Paintings. It was a technique that followed one’s heart as they observed the universe, ultimately giving birth to a single sword attack. It felt like just yesterday when Lu Yin had seen it, and yet Lu Jing lay dead before him now.
Strangely, there was still a fierce expression on the corpse’s face. Lu Jing looked like he was still fighting, ready to draw his sword at any moment. While possessed by bloodlust, Lu Jing had died.
Lu Yin studied Liu Li’s corpse again, but there was no battle rage on her face, only sorrow.
What was going on?
One face showed immense sorrow, while the other revealed powerful killing intent, yet neither showed any external wounds, and both were dead. Both had been powerful experts, one even a peak Dukkhan, and yet they had both died without visible wounds.
There were not even any signs of a battle near their corpses.
Lu Yin’s consciousness scanned the region. He found multiple rows of corpses, some of which had died gruesome deaths, while others were similar to Lu Jing and Liu Li, having died in some strange manner. As for the corpses of the Allsenses, there were none. Not a single one.
Are they all dead?
Lu Yin expanded the area that he was observing with his consciousness past the Sixth Night Pillar and into the asteroid field.
As he did so, countless transparent, tadpole-like creatures suddenly shot towards the Sixth Night Pillar. They were moving straight for Lu Yin. All of them were Allsenses.
These Allsenses swam through the void, appearing and disappearing like ocean waves as they flooded the entire Sixth Night Pillar.
From the distant Fifth Night Pillar, the Azuresword Sovereign and others saw what was happening, and they were greatly alarmed.
This many Allsenses? Was the entire Sixth Night Pillar wiped out? Was there no one to deal with these creatures?
Right after that, a ripple passed through the universe in all directions. It had been released by Lu Yin. He released a wave of power that swept through the horde of Allsenses. Countless creatures were shredded into fragments, leaving no corpse behind. All that could be seen were glimmering specks of light that gradually dissipated. It was strangely beautiful.
However, when paired with the corpses strewn across the Sixth Night Pillar, it was also a terrifying sight.
These Allsenses posed no threat, as Lu Yin was able to easily exterminate them in large numbers. This matched what the Seventh Night Pillar had determined before leaving the Nine Odysseys Megaverse; Allsenses were physically weak and could be dealt with.
That was why an Allsense had been taken back and delivered to the Sixth Night Pillar so that a report could be delivered to the Greater Sancti. The Immortals had then declared that the megaverse could be destroyed.
That conclusion was not wrong. Allsenses were indeed quite easy to kill, having almost no defenses whatsoever. However, the creatures’ attack methods were extremely hard for humans to defend against. Just the previously known methods had already been bad enough, but the Allsenses were able to evolve and could develop unknown channels of attack. If even touched by one, a person was doomed.
Not even Liu Li had managed to escape death.
The ripple destroyed countless Allsenses. To many on the Fifth Night Pillar, their deaths appeared almost too easy, as though they had been destroyed by a casual move.
It simply made no sense. It was as though a person’s cultivation and defenses meant nothing before these creatures, leaving them no better than ordinary humans.
All around Lu Yin, Allsenses continued to emerge from the void. He started to deliberately test them. When he looked at them, he only saw a creature, but he could not physically touch it. It was as though it only existed within his vision.
He also smelled blood, and whenever that happened, he experienced a strange sensation, as if the scent of blood also carried something else.
As the ripples continued to spread, they created vibrations that set the Allsenses adrift. They started to approach Lu Yin from odd angles, as though riding the ripples he released and swimming through them.
Vibration, scent, and sight; Lu Yin experienced all of those attack channels for himself.
He flicked a finger, and the nearby void shattered as he exposed the True Void.
The Allsenses that had been attempting to attack Lu Yin through various channels were instantly annihilated, without any chance of even getting close to him.
It can’t be this simple. There have to be Allsenses that can attack along special channels.
Right as Lu Yin had that thought, a scream of unbearable agony rang out across the distant Fifth Night Pillar. Someone collapsed to the ground.
Those nearby instantly reacted. One person tried to stop them, but they were too late, and the screaming cultivator was immediately erased.
“What are you doing?!” the one who had tried to stop people roared in fury while lashing out at everyone nearby. The dead man had been his brother.
No one retaliated, and they only tried to defend themselves.
“Are you all insane? These creatures are so weak! We can easily wipe out entire hordes! Why did you kill my brother? Why?!” he screamed. His eyes were bloodshot and filled with hatred.
The people nearby exchanged glances. They had reacted out of reflexes that had been drilled into them during the five years of traveling through the Aevum Inch. If they had been given a choice, they might not have acted.
“Hua Lie, haven’t you drilled for years at the Odyssey Commander’s orders to prepare for fighting here in the Allsense Megaverse? Have you forgotten? Your brother was infected by an Allsense—he had to die. There was no saving him,” someone tried to reason.
Hua Lie glared at him. “There might be a way! There might not be any way in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, but we’re in the Allsense Megaverse. Even if he died, I promised my brother that I’d take his body home.”
Right as the man finished speaking, another scream rang out from nearby. This time, the people near the person did not respond out of reflex, and instead simply watched as the man died in agony. Then, as if the infection had spread, more people started to scream.
“Attack! Hurry! Have you all forgotten the Odyssey Commander’s orders? Eliminate them now!”
The Fifth Night Pillar fell into chaos. Everywhere, people were dying, but no one knew why.
Lu Yin returned to the Fifth Night Pillar and looked down from high above. His expression grew cold as his hand rose, and then fell. The void shattered, and starting from the center of his palm, fractures spread out, ripping the universe apart and enveloping the Fifth Night Pillar with a vast envelope of the True Void.
The sight left everyone stunned.
Despite knowing that Lu Yin was incredibly powerful, no one had expected him to unleash such overwhelming power. This was not a level that normal cultivators could touch, as it was something that only Immortals could hope to accomplish.
The Azuresword Sovereign and many other powerhouses were left speechless.
If any of them had been struck by Lu Yin’s palm, there was no question that they would be dead.
The True Void that surrounded the Fifth Night Pillar eliminated all of the unseen Allsenses. Regardless of where or how they hid in the void, so long as they were within range, they died.
Lu Yin looked down, and sternly announced, “Anyone who has been infected by an Allsense must be put down immediately. Any delay will be punished by death.”
“Yes, Odyssey Commander.”
“Yes, Odyssey Commander.”
Lu Yin frowned as he looked around. He did not know how many Allsenses his attack had destroyed, but while a great many had most likely died, there were still more nearby. This was also only within a single asteroid field. Just how many Allsenses existed throughout the entire Allsense Megaverse? These numbers were simply unimaginable.
It was possible that simply resetting the megaverse was the fastest solution.
However, where was the origin and termination point of the sequence strings? Were there even enough parallel universes? Where were the other two Night Pillars? Had everyone on them died? He had seen no trace of either the Second or Fourth Night Pillars.
“What we previously knew of the Allsenses are now useless. These Allsenses have developed new methods. We need to find the others. They’ve been in this megaverse for much longer, and they must have gathered some information,” the Azuresword Sovereign shouted.
Lian Jing spoke in frustration, “How are we supposed to defend against unknown means? Unless we constantly release enough power to expose the True Void, destroying entire regions, we won’t even be able to find the creatures.”
“We can’t release Origin-realm attacks indefinitely,” Wei Heng coldly retorted.
“That’s your problem,” Lian Jing snapped back with a sneer.
Wei Heng glared, but he did not argue further. Compared to Lian Jing, he did indeed fall short in terms of stamina.
Wei Heng could release a stronger attack, while Lian Jing had greater endurance.
Lu Yin scanned the area again, only to find that more Allsenses had already appeared in the distance. Karma curled around his fingertip, and he flung out a spiral of karma, targeting a specific fate. He refused to believe that he could not find anyone from the original invasion force.
Karma was not limited to humans, as it encompassed all cause and effect.
Everything that existed in the omniverse possessed karma.
Every speck of dust had its own origin, but Lu Yin had neither the energy nor sufficient karma to find the origin of a single speck of dust.
Such an endeavor would span endless eons, possibly encompassing more time than an Immortal’s lifetime.
Still, this simply meant that the Allsenses were also bound by karma.
Each megaverse held its own karma, as did the Aevum Inch and the entire cosmos.
Lu Yin's spiral of karma swept past a group of Allsenses, triggering a series of images for him. He was using karma to search for Ming Zhuo’s fate, and he eventually found the man.
He saw Ming Zhuo annihilating hordes of Allsenses. The creatures struck by the spiral of karma had been far away from Ming Zhuo during the time that Lu Yin was observing. He saw Ming Zhuo guide the Fourth Night Pillar into a spatial tunnel that seemed to connect to a parallel universe.
Lu Yin continued to release more and more spirals of karma, as he needed to pinpoint the location of the tunnel. Since Ming Zhuo had taken the Fourth Night Pillar through it, it might very well lead to a battlefield that could eliminate the Allsenses.
One scene after another unfolded before his eyes. In addition to Ming Zhuo, he also used karma to search for Qiunan Hongye, and astonishingly, she had also survived and passed through the same spatial tunnel, despite coming from the Second Night Pillar.
