Chapter 3923: Breaking It Is Enough

Chapter 3923: Breaking It Is Enough

Ming Zhuo's expression fell. Why had a Night Pillar arrived? Even if reinforcements had come, it should have been an Immortal Greater Sancte. What was the point of sending another Night Pillar?

Not far from the Fourth Night Pillar was the Second Night Pillar. On it was another man with a heavy expression on his face. He was familiar with the Fifth Night Pillar and had quickly recognized it as the new entrant. Its Odyssey Commander should be the Azuresword Sovereign.

Having the Fifth Night Pillar reinforce the other three Night Pillars was meaningless. Simply more people had been sent to die in the Allsense Megaverse. The two Night Pillars were not even able to escape at the moment.

This made things even more complicated. Why had their homeland made such a decision?

They had endured for so long, waiting for an Immortal Great Sancte to arrive and save them, just as they had done during the war against the Skyveil Megaverse.

Both the Second and Fourth Night Pillars had participated in that expedition. The fighting there had been brutal, and countless lives had been lost in attempts to break the spirit treasure formations. Ultimately, the arrival of an Immortal Greater Sancte had shattered the spirit treasure formations and allowed the Night Pillars to truly invade the Skyveil Megaverse.

Support from another Night Pillar would make no difference.

The Fifth Night Pillar slowly exited the spatial passage, and Lu Yin looked around at the parallel universe that they had arrived in. What he found was completely different from the universe that they had left. In this one, the planets glowed.

Normally, outer space was dark and endless, but this entire universe was illuminated, granting it a bright beauty.

Each planet shone with a halo of various colors.

He did not know how these colors had come to be, but they made the universe breathtaking to look upon.

“Retreat! Leave now!” a thunderous shout rang out.

The shout rang out at almost the exact same moment that Lu Yin’s consciousness swept out. He found the distant Second and Fourth Night Pillars and knew that Ming Zhuo was the one who had shouted.

The people aboard both the Second and Fourth Night Pillars had arranged themselves into groups of 100. Five such groups then formed a circle, with each group releasing their strongest attacks at timed intervals to ensure that the circle was always enshrouded by the True Void. This was how each circle of 500 people was kept safe.

Each of the two Night Pillars had arranged themselves into many such circles.

It was clear that this was the strategy that they had developed to defend against the Allsenses.

The moment that Ming Zhuo's voice rang out, Lu Yin felt a sudden chill. The abrupt cold was strange, and it felt as though he was about to be devoured by something.

Far away, several attacks flew out from the Second and Fourth Night Pillars. It appeared that the two of them were targeting something.

Despite the weirdness, Lu Yin’s expression remained calm. What in the cosmos could threaten him, aside from powers at the Immortal level? What’s more, the fact that the Second and Fourth Night Pillars were still standing proved that any threats here were not at the Immortal level. Otherwise, they would not have survived this long given their power.

The fact that Ming Zhuo and the others were able to still attack was only further proof of this fact.

If they were up against an Immortal opponent, even attacking would be utterly impossible. Just the suppressive pressure of such an opponent’s techniques would shatter their minds.

Were there invisible attacks?

It was not even necessary to see them, as everything could simply be broken.

Lu Yin looked up as his Tri-Azure Sword Intent sliced into the sky from behind him. He released five consecutive attacks that spread out in all directions. Regardless of whether he could see it or not, everything would be cut.

The cosmos was strange. Humanity was simply one of a great many species. Even if they were able to cultivate to incredible heights of power, there were still inviolable rules for them.

As for what kinds of undetectable creatures or attacks might still be in the Allsense Megaverse, Lu Yin did not care.

There was a fundamental law to reality: survival of the fittest.

The fact that something could not be seen simply meant that it followed a different system. Destructive power was still the ultimate standard when it came to measuring strength.

The Tri-Azure Sword Intents sliced out all directions, and something was cut. Lu Yin frowned. As expected, something had been present, and it was also not weak. Even his sword intent had struggled to cut through it. That invisible entity must have reached the limits of power beneath the Immortal realm, which would explain why the Second and Fourth Night Pillars were unable to escape from this universe.

At that moment, Ming Zhuo and the others' attacks arrived as well, but everything stopped 10,000 meters away from the Fifth Night Pillar, unable to advance any farther.

Atop the Fifth Night Pillar, the Azuresword Sovereign and the other cultivators all saw Ming Zhuo’s attacks, proving they were still alive.

Of the five Tri-Azure Sword Intents that Lu Yin had released, four had cut through something, but one had been stopped.

Lu Yin examined the Tri-Azure Sword Intent that still hung in the sky. It shattered after just a moment as something had snapped it. In response, he raised a hand and grabbed at that area. There was a thunderous boom as space shattered. Starting from his hand, a deep darkness spread out, splitting the universe in two much to the shock of Ming Zhuo and the others.

They had seen Lu Yin’s hand crush a creature.

The chill vanished, and the Fifth Night Pillar fully entered the universe.

Lu Yin looked at Ming Zhuo and the others. “Stay, or go back?”

Ming Zhuo excitedly replied, “Of course we’re going back!”

He then hurried to the back of the Fourth Night Pillar and pushed it closer to the spatial passage.

At the same time, someone behind the Second Night Pillar unleashed nine deep, dark abysses, which drew Lu Yin’s attention. The Ninth Abyss? I thought that the people of the Rift of Suffering didn’t join the Nine Odysseys? Did this person leave the Rift of Suffering?

Lu Yin did not overthink the matter, and he simply shoved the Fifth Night Pillar back into the universe that it had just come from.

Before anything else, he needed to get a clear picture of what had happened to Ming Zhuo and the others.

The Fifth Night Pillar was pushed back through the spatial passage, but Lu Yin did not follow it through. It appeared that the Second and Fourth Night Pillars were not able to withdraw as easily.

"Good, Brother! One more push!" Ming Zhuo shouted. The Fourth Night Pillar was moving closer to the spatial passage, but it staggered as it moved. It also took a winding path, as though something invisible was blocking its way.

Attacks continuously flew out from the Night Pillar, and countless Allsenses surged towards it, swarming it.

Lu Yin raised a hand and grabbed the void to release a surge of power, shattering everything. Everything in the paths of the Fourth and Second Night Pillars was destroyed.

Ming Zhuo laughed loudly. “Charge!”

The man beneath the Second Night Pillar glanced at Lu Yin in awe of the unmatched power that he had just unleashed. “Charge!”

The two Night Pillars shot towards the passage, encountering no further resistance. Finally, they both left the universe.

Lu Yin looked back, but he could only see the countless glowing planets and the uncountable Allsenses. After a deep glance, he followed the Night Pillars, returning to the other universe.

As soon as the Second and Fourth Night Pillars arrived, they gave out orders and rearranged their formations to completely encircle the Fifth Night Pillar. This way, all of its cultivators were protected.

Only after that was done did Ming Zhuo breathe a sigh of relief. “With these formations protecting us and constantly shattering the void, those Allsenses won’t be able to approach us.”

The cultivators of the Fifth Night Pillar looked around in confusion. They were surrounded by the Second and Fourth Night Pillars, and the people on those Night Pillars continued to urge the newcomers to gather into groups of 100 and circles of five groups so that they could protect their Night Pillar in the same fashion as the other two, sharing the pressure.

“There’s no need for all of that. You can spread out as we won’t be attacked,” someone from the Fifth Night Pillar shouted back.

The people on the Second and Fourth Night Pillars were confused. “What do you mean, you won’t be attacked? Do you even know how many channels the Allsenses can use to attack? You can’t see any of them! You were just lucky to have found the passage right away and that Mr. Lu was protecting you. Just spend some time with the creatures and see what happens. You won’t even know how you died.”

“Hurry up and copy us! Don’t drag us down.”

“Hurry!”

The people on the Fifth Night Pillar felt helpless. Their minds were calm, and they had already learned how the Allsenses’ attack methods.

Two Night Pillars protected the third. With so many cultivators gathered in one place, the noise quickly swelled.

“We already know that the Allsenses can use emotions as an attack channel. They can target joy, anger, sorrow, fear, and killing intent. As long as you calm your mind, you’ll be fine. There’s no need for all this.”

“What? They can attack through joy and killing intent too? We only knew about anger, sorrow, and fear!”

“How do you know about this? You know more than we do.”

“Of course! Our Odyssey Commander told us. Mr. Lu is the Odyssey Commander of the Fifth Night Pillar.”

“Mr. Lu is peerless in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”

“That’s a bit much. True, Mr. Lu destroyed the Autumnspring Slip and scattered his characters that shook the megaverse when he broke through to the Origin realm, but he’s not invincible.”

“You left too early and missed so much. Mr. Lu has done far more than just that...”

...

Ming Zhuo was listening to the surrounding conversations when Lu Yin returned from the spatial passage. As soon as Lu Yin returned, Ming Zhuo bluntly asked, “Have you learned all of the channels that the Allsenses can use to attack?”

The Second Night Pillar’s commander also arrived. His name was Yu, and he was the Odyssey Commander of the Second Night Pillar. Aside from these two men, every other cultivator from both Night Pillars, including even the peak Dukkhans, remained inside the formations.

Lu Yin nodded. “Since I’ve comprehended karma, I used that to learn what they can do.”

“So that’s how.”

He had already known that Lu Yin had comprehended karma, and since that method was at Lu Yin’s disposal, it was not at all surprising for him to have gathered so much information already.

On the other hand, Yu was completely shocked. “You’ve comprehended karma?”

Lu Yin looked over at Yu. “Senior, are you the Second Night Pillar’s Odyssey Commander?”

Yu nodded. “My name is Yu.”

“I am Lu Yin, the current Odyssey Commander of the Fifth Night Pillar.”

Yu said, “I’ve heard of you. Your characters during your breakthrough shook the Nine Odysseys Megaverse, and your words were quite domineering. I simply didn’t consider that you might have comprehended karma. It’s no wonder why you emerged from the Sea of Karma. Are you also one of Greater Sancte Green Lotus’s disciples?”

Ming Zhuo proudly proclaimed, “That’s right! My master has given him a trial to complete. You should be finished by now, right, Junior Brother?”

Lu Yin shook his head. “Not yet.”

Ming Zhuo instantly grew indignant. “What? You’re still not done? Those seven girls have gone too far! After this war, we need to go back and give them a good scolding! They actually dare to make things hard for you?”

Lu Yin quickly changed the subject. “How have the three Night Pillars’ casualties been?”

That question instantly caused Ming Zhuo and Yu to grow somber. “The dead number a third of the Second Night Pillar’s forces, a quarter of the Fourth Night Pillar’s, and half of the Sixth Night Pillar’s.

“Our casualties are about the same as when we attacked the Skyveil Megaverse, but this war feels even more frustrating.”

Ming Zhuo’s voice was grave. “During the war against the Skyveil Megaverse, we were at least able to see our enemy and understood that breaking their spirit treasure formations was our path to victory. Even if we died, we died with understanding, but this Allsense Megaverse is too bizarre. We can’t even figure out how we’re dying. Can you imagine fighting for years, while the thought that occupies you the most isn’t how to defeat your enemy, but rather how you’ll die?”

Yu let out a bitter laugh. “We can’t figure out the cause of death, which means that we can only passively defend. We’ve even been forced to sacrifice people just to learn how they die. This is the first time I’ve ever participated in such a war.”

Lu Yin understood. While it was normal to fight to the death on the battlefield, the most terrifying prospect was not knowing how you died.

A perfect example was the parallel universe they had just left. There, he had not been able to see anything, and yet he had to deal with an invisible attack that approached the Immortal realm. Such a thing was truly terrifying. If anyone else other than Lu Yin had been present, the Fifth Night Pillar would have lost at least half of its people, and they would have died without even knowing what had happened.

It was both disturbing and terrifying.
