Chapter 4052: Leveraging

Chapter 4052: Leveraging

One by one, cultivators returned to the Heavens Sect, all of whom were qualified to enter.

Lu Yuan and the others also came back, laughing.

Lu Yin’s return had instantly restored the Tianyuan’s backbone. He provided something that no one else could replace.

Even the Three Realms and Six Daos and other members of the old guard felt the same.

Jiang Feng went back to Whitecloud City. Lu Yin’s return meant that things in the Heavens Sect could be left to him.

Many cultivators arrived at the Heavens Sect from all the different parallel universes.

Lu Yin did not need to be greeted by the masses; his return had already made enough of a stir. He wanted everyone to finish dealing with the bugs first.

At the bottom of the Stairway to Heaven, Sapling leapt out of the cauldron and excitedly circled around Lu Yin, prompting a laugh. “Alright, alright! I’m back! I know, you missed me. Hahaha!”

Sapling’s green leaves rubbed against Lu Yin’s cheek as it clung to him.

Only a long while later did Sapling reluctantly return to the cauldron.

From afar, He Ran approached and bowed respectfully. “Greetings, Lord Lu.”

After Bai Qian was captured by the Aeternals, Lu Yin had assigned He Ran to oversee the Transcendent Universe. He had not expected her to approach him so soon. “Is something wrong?”

If she did not have something important to report, He Ran would not have been waiting in the Heavens Sect.

There were many people already waiting in the Heavens Sect’s main hall, wanting to catch up with Lu Yin.

She glanced up at Lu Yin, maintaining a respectful attitude. “Bai Qian asked me to deliver a message to you.”

In the past, He Ran had clashed with Lu Yin, and she had even been kept in the Heavens Sect to serve as a mascot, due to her beauty.

However, after multiple wars, and especially when Lu Yin had led Boundless to the Spirit Nidus to protect the Tianyuan with the intent to die on that journey, He Ran had developed an increasing amount of respect for Lu Yin.

Most recently, when the Nest civilization had attacked, Lu Yin had rushed back to save their megaverse.

Everyone owed their lives to Lu Yin, and He Ran knew that she was no exception. At this moment, her attitude towards him was no different from anyone else’s in the Tianyuan.

Lu Yin was caught off guard. “Bai Qian? When did you see her?”

“When I was reassigned to rule the Transcendent Universe.”

Lu Yin thought for a moment. That had taken place long after Aeternus was defeated. Time had reverted for the Tianyuan, a springboard had been built, and Boundless had been about to leave for the Spirit Nidus.

“How is she?”

“She was captured by the Aeternals and taken to the Second Scourge back then, but she managed to escape before the Scourge collapsed. She asked me to give you a message.”

He Ran paused and then said, “‘Thank you.’”

Lu Yin was puzzled. “She wants to thank me?”

He Ran nodded.

Lu Yin said, “Throughout the war against the Aeternals, and even when the Second Scourge was destroyed and I killed Xu Jin, I never saw her. The fact that she got out alive is a miracle. How is she now?”

“I don’t know. She only sought me out to have me thank you on her behalf. However, she was with someone at that time. They were stiff and cold, with no aura at all, almost like a corpse,” He Ran replied.

Lu Yin raised a hand and shot a spiral of karma into He Ran. He was using karma to search for anything related to Bai Qian.

It was better to see than to hear.

In He Ran’s karma, he saw Bai Qian, as well as a figure who followed behind her.

The karma revealed very little. Lu Yin could only see a figure standing in the shadows, completely covered by a cloak.

Dispersing the karma, Lu Yin gave the matter no further thought. Like Progenitor Ku, Bai Qian was taking her own path. The fact that she had been able to freely approach He Ran indicated that Bai Qian was free and likely not in any danger. Even if she were, he was not able to find her.

He was not a god; he could not help everyone.

“I understand,” Lu Yin said.

He Ran bowed and dismissed herself.

Lu Yin patted Sapling again and then moved towards the Stairway to Heaven.

At the top of the stairway, the Origin Progenitor’s statue faced the starry sky.

Lu Yin looked up, feeling mixed emotions. Senior, where are you? With so many parallel universes in the Consciousness Megaverse, how can I find you? I hope that you can make it back alive.

Step by step, he climbed the Stairway to Heaven. Finally, he stood beside the statue. He turned to look out at the stars and closed his eyes.

He would try something else to see if he could compensate for his lack of karma.

No one disturbed him. Lu Yin stood above the stairs, his eyes closed in contemplation. This lasted for three days.

After three days, his eyes suddenly opened, and he released his inner universe. The Wordless Heavenly Book floated up. It looked small, and yet the names of everyone in the Tianyuan flickered across it.

He could cross out certain names in the Wordless Heavenly Book or add others.

He was the ruler of the entire megaverse.

As the book appeared, countless voices entered his ears. They belonged to those who were praying to him or paying him homage.

As he stared up at the Wordless Heavenly Book, his gaze deepened. He raised his hand and sent a spiral of karma soaring up. It passed straight through the book and continued higher up.

The Tianyuan rumbled. It was the thunder of karma, but this time, the commotion was coming from the megaverse’s own karma, rather than the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.

Excitement flickered in Lu Yin’s eyes. It was working.

Previously, he had merged his Karmic Dao into the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm to use it. He had just attempted to do the same thing, but with the Tianyuan’s karma, and he had succeeded.

He could not have done this if he was not in the Tianyuan. Only in this place, where the megaverse had acknowledged him and granted him its will, it could be done.

This was where he had comprehended karma, and this was where karma recognized him.

Through the Wordless Heavenly Book, his Karmic Dao merged with the Tianyuan’s karma. Instantly, that familiar sensation returned, the feeling of seeing through the entire megaverse via karma, perceiving all of it with a single thought, and every being within it with another.

Compared to the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, the Tianyuan’s karma felt small.

Even so, it was enough.

If he could use his Karmic Dao to leverage the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, he could certainly use it to leverage a megaverse’s karma.

His Karmic Dao had been too depleted to act directly through the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, so he took a step back. He would use his Karmic Dao to leverage the Tianyuan’s karma, then use that karma to leverage the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm. In this way, he could move the entire Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm at minimal cost.

This was something only he could do. Throughout the cosmos, there was no one else.

Even if Progenitor Ku comprehended karma, he would not be recognized by the Tianyuan’s karma.

The will of the Tianyuan rested with Lu Yin and with his Wordless Heavenly Book.

The cosmos roared. Once again, Lu Yin was using the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm to peer across the Aevum Inch into the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. He wondered how the battle there was faring.

A war between civilizations would never end without the Immortals settling their own outcome.

After a dozen days, Lu Yin saw the Nine Odysseys Megaverse once again.

The fighting was still raging on. The war between humanity and the insects filled the skies, staining the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s once-blue canopy crimson red.

Cities had been shattered, and mountains and rivers had been broken. People lined up in long columns to flee deep into the mountains, only for massive insects to crush and snap their destination apart. Blades fell from high above, pulverizing bugs, but collateral damage also struck the humans.

During this war, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse cultivators were unable to protect all of the ordinary mortals.

As he surveyed the megaverse, Lu Yin found that human cultivators held an unquestionable advantage.

The people who had learned the Nirvana Tree Path released their true power one after another. They cut down many of the Nest civilization’s Verdant Sages. The bugs’ top experts had been nearly wiped out.

Additionally, Luo Chan was still trapped in the Terminus Cycle by the Great Master. Keeping that bug trapped was far from easy. Worried that Luo Chan might break out by attacking a single point, the Great Master kept slapping the outside of the sequence base with her oar.

With a bit of luck, she was occasionally able to directly hit Luo Chan’s collision course, which would send the bug reeling back from the blow.

Luo Chan flailed about like a headless fly, madly crashing into the sides as it tried to escape from the Terminus Cycle.

Dan Jin and Xing Fan were still keeping Shan Xiao pinned down. The three women’s fight was heaven-shattering, and there was no room for anyone else to intervene.

Lu Yin soon shifted his attention to a certain card. That was the true center of this entire war.

The card floated in outer space. No one dared to approach it.

That was a battlefield between Immortals. Just glimpsing such a thing would be too much for most people to endure.

As he stared at the card, Lu Yin thought that, if the Immortals’ battle continued, the Nest civilization would eventually lose the war.

Without Luo Chan, they did not even have a hope of retreat.

The longer the Immortals’ battle dragged on, the better. Could Greater Sancte Awe Gate hold out?

After all, she was facing two enemy Immortals.

Half a month later, while Lu Yin was watching Luo Chan, the card suddenly cracked.

Three figures then appeared, standing across from each other.

Lu Yin instantly looked over.

Shan Xiao, Dan Jin, and countless others also looked up. Had the Immortals’ battle come to a conclusion?

Qing Yun looked up with anxious eyes. Mother!

Countless eyes looked to the sky, filled with both hope and unease.

Above the sky, Greater Sancte Awe Gate’s hair was stained with blood, as was half of her body. The sight of her condition caused countless hearts to drop.

Across from her, the humanoid Verdant Sage looked like they were in an even worse condition. One arm was gone, and blood dripped into the sky from various holes that had been torn open in the bug’s robes. Each drop was capable of melting a star.

The droplet creature had always been small, but at this moment, it had nearly halved in size. It looked as though it had shriveled up.

Greater Sancte Awe Gate sneered as darkness flickered above her palm, producing a deep hum. Her other hand held a spear-like polearm. The weapon was cracked, and yet it was still capable of piercing the universe. She pointed it at her opponents. “Two against one, and yet you still can’t win. Have your Immortal Lord come.”

The humanoid Verdant Sage regrew their severed arm. The snow-white limb gained red stains, like a plum blossom imprint. “Impressive, human. Even if you are able to defeat us, can your civilization win this war?”

As the words were spoken, the droplet creature suddenly dived down. Countless droplets shot towards the Mother Tree. The Immortal intended to destroy the Nine Odysseys Megaverse’s Mother Tree.

Greater Sancte Awe Gate’s weapon swept out to strike the droplet creature.

The humanoid Verdant Sage thrust both of their hands forward, and the power of the Third Rampart rose like a mountain range, shrouding the sky and blocking the Greater Sancte’s strike.

There was a bang, and the barrier shuddered though it did not break.

Infused with endless Immortal matter, the barrier was as hard as stone.

Awe Gate took a step, vanishing. She reappeared in front of the droplet creature, forcing it to dodge and escape in another direction.

The woman vanished again. She was in her own territory, which meant that she could appear anywhere in an instant.

The humanoid Verdant Sage searched for Luo Chan, and they quickly saw that the bug was trapped in the Terminus Cycle. A casual wave of a hand broke off a corner of the barrier formed from the Third Rampart’s power, which then went crashing towards the Great Master.

The Great Master’s expression changed. Not good!

She quickly fled with the Terminus Cycle, but at that moment, a boom shook the sky. A karmic wall appeared, blocking the fragment of the Third Rampart’s power.

The universe fractured. It was karma against a battle technique. Two practically intangible forces clashed with enough power that it felt like the entire Nine Odysseys Megaverse was shattering.

Dragging the Terminus Cycle away, the Great Master let out a breath of relief. Mr. Lu was taking action once again. She had called out to him multiple times, but there had been no response. She thought that he had stopped observing their megaverse.

In the distance, Greater Sancte Awe Gate also started to breathe easier. Darkness swelled in her hand, and a rift pressed down upon the droplet creature.
