Chapter 4056: Motto

“Greetings, Lord Lu.” Gu Duanke and the other peak Dukkhan both bowed.

Behind them, the Second Nightking respectfully withdrew. The pressure from the presence of the three men was overwhelming.

He had learned that Gu Duanke and the other man were both peak Dukkhans, which was a cultivation level that previously only been held by the Heavens Sect’s Origin Progenitor and Aeternus’s True God. It was a realm that had quite literally been the peak of the Tianyuan.

For such people to be so deferential to Lord Lu... just what had Lord Lu been up to in recent years?

Lord Lu might not mind, but the Second Nightking was unable to endure even the slightest bit of aura that these experts accidentally let slip. It was too much for the man.

Lu Yin nodded. “Sit.”

Gu Duanke sat without any fuss. He had bowed as a show of respect for the Tianyuan’s ruler, but he and Lu Yin were on quite friendly terms.

The other man was far more stiff. “I’ll stand.”

Gu Duanke chuckled. “Come on, Old Jiang, have a seat. Mr. Lu’s casual about such things.”

Lu Yin smiled and nodded at the man. “Sit.”

Old Jiang sucked in a deep breath and then bowed again. “Thank you, Lord Lu.”

He slowly sat down, all the while staring at Lu Yin with eyes full of respect.

He had heard of Lu Yin; this man was considered the greatest beneath the Immortal realm, the one who had killed people in four different domains of the Nine Odysseys Megaverse with a single sword strike. Even so, Old Jiang had not thought much of the rumors. Despite becoming a peak Dukkhan by accepting a Seed Transfusion, he had figured he would simply avoid provoking Lu Yin, and that would be the end of things.

Then, Lu Yin had created the Nirvana Tree Path, which allowed cultivators to fuse with multiple spirit seeds. Old Jiang had been chosen by Awe Gate herself to learn the Nirvana Tree Path.

Only after learning the new cultivation path had the old man realized just how shallow his vision had been, as well as how staggeringly brilliant Lu Yin truly was.

Even more shocking were Lu Yin’s fights after he returned to the Tianyuan. He had severed an Immortal beast’s arm. Everyone had witnessed that incident, and the beast’s aura had unmistakably belonged to an Immortal. That battle had shaken everyone to their core.

Being known as the most powerful cultivator beneath the Immortal realm was lightyears away from severing an Immortal’s arm.

It meant that, despite only being an Ortuser, Lu Yin had already taken a step toward being able to slay Immortals. Such a thing was completely unheard of in all of history. If Lu Yin continued on his current path, he might eventually become humanity’s strongest Immortal.

Excellence demanded deference, and Old Jiang’s previous indifference had since transformed into fervor.

He had chosen to join the Sixth Night Pillar. After receiving the Nirvana Tree Path, he had immediately asked to join the Sixth Night Pillar in order to aid the Tianyuan. He had made that decision both because of his respect towards Lu Yin as well as to repay a debt.

At the moment, Old Jiang was nervous at being so close to Lu Yin, despite the Dukkhan’s advanced age.

“I should be the one thanking you. The Nine Odysseys Megaverse sent support to the Tianyuan. It was not easy to send both the Sixth and Seventh Night Pillars. Thank you,” Lu Yin offered his sincere thanks.

Gu Duanke waved a hand. “There’s no need to thank us. If you have time, come back to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. That way, you can thank Awe Gate instead.”

Lu Yin smiled and nodded. Come back?

Many in that megaverse would consider Lu Yin returning. Already, the Nine Odysseys Megaverse felt like a second home to him.

In that megaverse, there were some who had schemed against him, but far more respected and accepted him.

If that were not the case, he would have never been able to merge with the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm.

“Mr. Lu, we came here to bid you farewell. Most of the bugs have already been dealt with, and the Tianyuan’s main universe has been completely cleaned out. As for the few which fled into parallel universes, please handle those on your own,” Gu Duanke stated bluntly.

Lu Yin nodded. “I understand. When will you leave?”

“As soon as we can,” Gu Duanke replied, his expression growing complicated. “The Nest civilization attacked the Tianyuan, but I worry that they might target the Nine Odysseys Megaverse as well.”

Lu Yin looked at him. “You guessed right. They did attack the Nine Odysseys Megaverse.”

“What?” Gu Duanke and Old Jiang both shot to their feet, staring at Lu Yin in shock.

Lu Yin motioned downwards with a hand. “Relax. The Nine Odysseys Megaverse is safe, and the attacking bugs were all wiped out. Master Ku Deng even broke through to the Immortal realm, which is cause for celebration.”

Gu Duanke let out a long breath. For a moment, he was speechless. “Mr. Lu, next time... say it all at once. Suspense can be deadly.”

Lu Yin chuckled. “I told you everything quite quickly. At least I didn’t start with ‘there were two Immortals bugs.’”

“What?” The men leaped up yet again. Not even knowing that their home megaverse was safe was enough to suppress their shock.

Two enemy Immortals was unbelievable.

“But only one Immortal Verdant Sage attacked the Tianyuan. Did the beast that you maimed also go to the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?”

“There’s no connection between the two. That beast was injured too severely, and it will likely lie low for a while. The Nest civilization had a Immortal that was hiding beyond the Heavenly Karmic Macrocosm, and once the Nine Odysseys Megaverse sent help to the Tianyuan, they used Luo Chan to join back together with that second Immortal and attack the Nine Odysseys Megaverse...”

As Lu Yin explained what had happened, the men’s shock only deepened. This had been a war between civilizations; even the slightest misstep could have doomed an entire species.

Shortly after that, the two colossal Night Pillars moved into the Aevum Inch to return back to their home.

Cultivators from all across the Tianyuan turned out to see the Night Pillars off.

The people from the Spirit Nidus looked conflicted. They had helped the Tianyuan, and they hoped to leverage Lu Yin’s influence to enter the Nine Odysseys Megaverse and put a stop to how that megaverse plundered the Spirit Nidus’s resources. But at this moment, the Tianyuan and the Nine Odysseys Megaverse seemed so close... that the people of the Spirit Nidus felt abandoned.

Su Shidao arrived. He was the only one of the Spirit Nidus’s Seven Seraphs still able to move about freely, and he had been pushed forward by many people to “negotiate” with Lu Yin.

Negotiate? Hearing that word had left Su Shidao feeling sick.

He already knew that they could not return home, or really go anywhere at all. They would have to stay in the Tianyuan for the rest of their lives.

Even so, Su Shidao went to see Lu Yin, intending to at least gauge the man’s stance.

As for Master Qing Cao, people had no idea that the Spirit Nidus’s invincible being was in the Tianyuan.

Qing Cao had only appeared in the Immemorial Citadel’s universe and at the megaverse’s boundary gate. He had never appeared on the battlefield.

“Lord Lu, Su Shidao of the Spirit Nidus is requesting an audience.”

“Send him in.”

Su Shidao entered the courtyard. He took a deep breath before appearing in front of Lu Yin, where he bowed. “Greetings, Lord Lu.”

Lu Yin smiled warmly. “Brother Su, why so formal? There’s no need to stand on ceremony.”

Su Shidao rolled his eyes as he took a seat. Once there, he stared at Lu Yin. “Be straight with me. What’s the current state of the Spirit Nidus?”

Lu Yin replied, “That’s no longer your burden. As I told you before, in the future, you can settle down here in the Tianyuan with peace of mind. Don’t worry. I’ll treat you the same as I do everyone else in the Tianyuan.”

Su Shidao’s voice dropped low. “We came to the Tianyuan because many in the Spirit Nidus were unable to accept the state of affairs there and wanted to fight back against the Nine Odysseys Megaverse. That place didn’t want the Spirit Nidus to be in a state of upheaval either. According to you, they even considered erasing three eras of the Spirit Nidus’s cultivators to keep the truth concealed.

“Yet it now appears that the Tianyuan and the Nine Odysseys Megaverse are very close and that many people have come to accept reality. They have learned that the gap between us and the Nine Odysseys Megaverse is too vast. We can’t even compare to the Tianyuan, which is why they’ve come to accept the situation. Can we return to the Spirit Nidus now?”

Lu Yin met the older man’s eyes. “You want to return to the Spirit Nidus?”

Su Shidao nodded, readily admitting it. “Who doesn’t want to go home?”

“That’s true, who wouldn’t? Fine. I agree. You can go back.”

Su Shidao’s eyes flared. “What did you say? Could you repeat that?”

Lu Yin smile. “I said, I agree.”

“Truly?”

“Truly.”

“You wouldn’t lie to me, would you?”

“Honesty is my motto.”

“What about the Nine Odysseys Megaverse?”

“I’ll handle that. No one there will give you any trouble.”

Su Shidao stared at Lu Yin in disbelief, completely bewildered.

The sudden reversal was too extreme. Since they had arrived in the Tianyuan, he had never considered the possibility of returning home. Lu Yin had managed to seize control of the Spirit Nidus piece by piece, and it was indeed possible that even the Nine Odysseys Megaverse might listen to him. But to say that he would allow them to go back home? This was the same man who had forced them to leave.

“Mr. Lu, what are you really thinking?” Su Shidao asked, staring intently at Lu Yin.

Lu Yin chuckled. “See? If I don’t let you return, you beg to go, but now that I agree, you hesitate. How is this my fault?”

Su Shidao quickly said, “It’s not that we’re refusing, but that I simply don’t understand your motives. You’re not planning something for the Spirit Nidus, are you?”

Lu Yin picked up his cup to sip some tea, only to discover that it was cold, so he set it back down.

Just as he was about to speak up, Long Xi arrived with two fresh cups, and she replaced Lu Yin’s cold tea.

Su Shidao completely ignored Long Xi, entirely focused on Lu Yin.

Long Xi glanced at the old man. Poor old man, he’s lost all initiative.

Anyone in the Tianyuan who knew Lu Yin understood that, if one ceded the initiative to him, they would never be able to get it back. At least, no one ever had.

That applied to individuals, factions, and even entire universes.

Long Xi knew who the old man was. He was the leader of the people from the Spirit Nidus. Really, so pitiful.

Lu Yin took a sip. “Not bad. You should try it.”

Su Shidao grew anxious. “Mr. Lu, give me a straight answer, considering the many times that I’ve helped you.”

Lu Yin set his cup back down and met the old man’s eyes. “I honestly agree to allow you to return. You can leave at any time. I will even promise you that the Nine Odysseys Megaverse won’t cause you any trouble. You can tell them that I said so.”

Su Shidao was shaken. Does this man’s influence in the Nine Odysseys Megaverse really run that deep?

Not even the Spirit Nidus’s invincible being could make such a promise.

“However...”

Hearing that word did not cause Su Shidao to tense up. Instead, he actually relaxed. Was there ever a time when Lu Yin did not add on conditions? Su Shidao was familiar with how Lu Yin had operated in the Spirit Nidus, and he had also researched Lu Yin’s past actions in the Tianyuan. This condition was very... Lu Yin.

Hearing “however” reassured Su Shidao.

“I agree to allow you to return, but I don’t know if your invincible being will agree to that or not,” Lu Yin casually stated.

Su Shidao blinked. “Our invincible being?”

Lu Yin smiled at him. “Yes, Master Qing Cao.”

Su Shidao stared blankly at him. Master Qing Cao.

He already knew that the Spirit Nidus’s invincible being was Master Qing Cao. That was something that many in the Tianyuan knew.

But would their own invincible being forbid them from returning?

“Why?”

“I have no idea. You’ll have to ask him yourself.”
