Thousand Machinations ignored the departing fragment of Devouring Trace, staring only at Chang Tian with burning eyes. "Excellent! It actually brought me a human of the Heaven's Sight Clan. This is perfect!"

"Heaven's Sight Clan? I thought that they belonged to the Fourth Rampart during the Nine Ramparts era." Lu Yin could not reveal total ignorance.

Thousand Machinations nodded. "The Fourth Rampart was inhabited by a very peculiar human race with a third eye. I have always wanted to find a living specimen of Heaven's Sight Clan in order to study that third eye. Unfortunately, I found none throughout all these years. Devouring Trace is quite clever. It found this fellow and brought him to me. While not knowing that he is a part of the Heaven's Sight Clan, I am known to be interested in any human."

"No wonder you took an interest in me," Lu Yin observed.

Thousand Machinations did not answer. They were staring at Chang Tian as though they were looking at a precious treasure.

Lu Yin looked at Chang Tian with a heavy heart. He had been captured. Lu Yin did not know what to do at this moment.

Chang Tian was Qing Yun's father and Awe Gate’s lover. He had helped Lu Yin and Awe Gate when they had visited the Longevity Civilization, and he had even been willing to abandon his own civilization to accompany Awe Gate to the Trio to live there.

Because of his guilt towards Qing Yun, Chang Tian had stolen a bit of the Longevity Vine and given it to Awe Gate. If not for that bit of vine, Awe Gate would have died when the Trio had been attacked.

If possible, Lu Yin truly wanted to rescue Chang Tian.

Thousand Machinations kept staring at the unconscious man, and then the bear suddenly took something out that nearly caused Lu Yin to lose his composure yet again.

It was an eye, and one that was not unfamiliar to Lu Yin. This was an eye of the Ten-Eyed Divine Crow.

Thousand Machinations actually has something like this?

The bear pressed the Divine Crow's eye directly into the eye of Heaven's Sight.

Lu Yin did not even know how to describe what he saw. He expected to see the third eye burst open, yet instead, the Divine Crow's eye flowed like water and simply entered the man’s eye.

In order to obtain the Divine Crow's eyes, Lu Yin had needed to continuously absorb motes of green light from numerous Mother Trees, and he had only succeeded after many attempts.

Had Chang Tian obtained an eye as easy as that?

"Senior, is that another eye from the Heaven's Sight Clan?"

"Of course not. That was an eye of the Ten-Eyed Divine Crow."

"The Ten-Eyed Divine Crow?"

"A creature considered invincible in single combat. Although it did not possess absolute power that allowed it to crush any other living being, it possessed ten innate gifts that were so absurd that each one was extremely troublesome. No one could defeat it one on one."

"What happened?"

"What happened is that the humans were ruthless. Several of them joined forces and killed the Divine Crow. Because of that incident, all civilizations grew wary of humanity. Think about it. Lu Yin stared at Thousand Machinations in a daze. Was that really how things had happened? Was that the reason why the Nine Ramparts had been besieged?

Yet even if it was a single trigger, it remained a cause. Lu Yin did not know what to say. The Nine Ramparts’ strength had been enough for them to act without restraint. Seeing Thousand Machinations grow so excited, Lu Yin finally understood why Wang Wen had stopped the Trio from connecting with the Longevity Civilization. Perhaps Wang Wen was also wary of the Heaven's Sight Clan.

The two continued to stare. Thousand Machinations did not move even one step until Chang Tian woke up several days later.

The moment he woke up, he saw Thousand Machinations. Chang Tian shot to his feet, and as he did so, he noticed Lu Yin.

He stared in astonishment. A human skeleton? And a bear? Half bear, half machine?

"Who are you?" Chang Tian warily demanded. He immediately sensed that something was wrong and lowered his head to look. His pupils shrank, and by the time his head rose back up to look at Thousand Machinations and Lu Yin, they were filled with bloodlust.

Thousand Machinations raised a paw and turned it slightly before Chang Tian's guarded eyes.

Lu Yin translated, "Hello, member of the Fourth Rampart's Heaven's Sight Clan."

Chang Tian stared at Lu Yin. "Who are you?"

Lu Yin replied, "Don’t look at me. I am only the translator, speaking on their behalf. This is Lord Thousand Machinations, one of the Death Megaverse’s seven Abyssals."

Chang Tian was horrified. "The Death Megaverse?"

Thousand Machinations smiled and raised a finger to tap the air between them.

Lu Yin translated, "It seems that you’ve heard of me. In that case, it will be much easier for us to communicate."

Chang Tian suddenly attacked.

However, a terrifying amount of Stillness fell from above and instantly pressed him to the ground.

Darkness surged into the sky and beyond it into outer space. It was a beam of darkness no wider than one’s palm, and yet Chang Tian was pinned down and rendered completely unable to move.

Thousand Machinations had retaliated, yet Lu Yin had not even seen how the bear had attacked.

Chang Tian was firmly pressed to the ground. He wanted to struggle to his feet, but it was simply impossible. The gap between them was too great.

Chang Tian was only a one-law Immortal, whereas Thousand Machinations was simply unfathomable.

The Abyssal crouched on the ground while staring at Chang Tian. Then, their finger moved.

Lu Yin translated, "You may try out the new power that is in your Heaven's Sight. You might be able to break free."

Chang Tian's struggle froze. A new power in his Heaven's Sight? What kind of power was it?

He almost instantly sensed it. He then raised his head to look at Thousand Machinations in shock. "The Ten-Eyed Divine Crow?"

Thousand Machinations smiled.

"You should thank me. I helped you obtain one of the Divine Crow’s innate gifts that the Heaven's Sight Clan all dreams of, did I not?" Lu Yin translated, his gaze fixed on Chang Tian. He also wanted to see what ability this eye possessed.

Chang Tian's aura grew weaker, but the Stillness piercing the sky did not diminish even the slightest bit.

As Lu Yin watched, a strange power emerged from the man’s third eye. It looked like ripples that covered Chang Tian. In a mere instant, Chang Tian's body was shrouded in a layer of black feathers. They were vivid and lifelike, appearing completely real.

Once the black feathers completely covered his body, the Stillness was actually isolated from his body. Chang Tian stepped forward, breaking free of the Stillness. He turned around, a long spear suddenly appearing in his hand. It looked nearly identical to Awe Gate's Awecloud. At the same time, purple sight power erupted, and another long spear appeared. This was a spear formed by Manifestation Beyond the Pupil.

"Twin Spears Piercing the Clouds!" Chang Tian shouted in a deep voice. The two spears stabbed at Thousand Machinations as one, each an unmatched sharp thrust. One aimed above and the other below. It was as though the universe were being divided into layers.

With a loud crash, both spears snapped, and Chang Tian was slammed back onto the ground by Thousand Machinations' paw.

One paw, just one, suppressed the Twin Spears Piercing the Clouds that Chang Tian had unleashed with his full strength.

Lu Yin watched on calmly. Chang Tian was indeed very powerful. He could be considered exceptional among one-law Immortals. He was roughly on the same level as Awe Gate after she had used the Nirvana Tree Path to fuse with Greater Sancte Mi Jin's cultivated spirit seed. However, against Thousand Machinations, the man was unable to last even one exchange.

Even so, he quickly rose back to his feet, holding a short spear while glaring at Thousand Machinations.

The bear examined Chang Tian, and then raised a thumb.

Lu Yin shared the exclamation of amazement. "These are the Divine Crow’s feathers. They actually make it so that you are capable of defending against my attacks."

Chang Tian was panting heavily. His purple sight power slowly withdrew into his third eye, and the short spear dangled loosely from his hand. His efforts were useless. In this place, he was completely unable to resist.

However, the layer of feathers that covered his body had indeed provided him with formidable defenses. Without them, Thousand Machinations could suppress Chang Tian with Stillness alone. With the feathers, the Abyssal actually needed to make a move.

He was sent flying away, yet even as he flew through the air, Thousand Machinations appeared where Chang Tian was headed and lashed out with another paw. Chang Tian was sent flying once again.

The Abyssal disappeared again and again and attacked again and again. Each time, the force of the attacks rose by the slightest bit. It was testing the limits of Chang Tian's new defenses.
