Once the Sun God was cornered, the bastard instantly escaped!
I wanted to go after him and catch him and probably torture him and eat him…
However, I was stopped, as a huge black tentacle was placed in front of me, making me unable to move forward.
Naturally, it was my father who stopped.
"Enough, let him go." He looked at me with a stern look, already having gone back to his humanoid form.
"But father, what if he…?!" I asked, I was slightly frustrated, I hated letting my prey escape.
"We can't afford to chase him above the city!" he said.
"But why?!" I asked angrily.
"Don't you understand, Kireina?! That's probably what he wants!" he said. "We'll find him again, trust me, and once we do… we'll tear him to shreds!"
"But…" I muttered.
"I know you feel frustrated, almost makes your whole plan feel like it was for nothing, right?" he sighed, patting my head. "But you did well, and you helped us uncover a lot of things now, we defeated those three monsters too, right? And now we got this Domain for ourselves. I would say this is a win for us."
"…Yeah, I mean… fine," I sighed. "I guess you're not wrong dad… I just dislike letting my prey escape. That bastard acted all cocky, and when he was finally cornered, he escapes?"
"Hah! I have met my fair share of cowards like him before," my father laughed. "Boasting their incredible power and confidence, acting like they're invincible… but the moment they struggle and are pushed back, they immediately become desperate, any honor or pride they had is left behind as they either try to escape or to find a way to destroy you in the shittiest way possible."
"Yes… You're not wrong, father, there's indeed a lot of shitty people like that," I sighed, as I looked at the Domain, there were still plenty of Recessed Beasts left. "Should we continue the hunt? These monsters are quite rare, and they could help us figure out the power of our enemy, and they seem like valuable materials too."
"Yes, you're not wrong," he nodded. "Let's do that for now… But you relax, no need to work or fight, my dear, you've done enough… and later, we'll talk about what you did, okay?"
"Eh?" I looked at him with confusion.
"Well! You can guess what I mean right?" he asked me with a slightly angry expression on his face made of shadows and swirling chaos energy. "You know…"
"A-Ah… yes…" I sighed. "I did something risky and…"
"Indeed!" he nodded. "Although it worked out at the end, and I'm very proud of you as your boss… as your father, I cannot simply approve of such strategies! What sort of tactic is letting your enemy capture you?! How can you even think that doing that will make it easy for you?! If they didn't want to use your as a hostage, they could have just killed you, you know?!"
"Dad I'm not that weak…" I said. "I could've killed them instead…"
"Yeah but it wasn't the same with the Sun God right?" he raised an eyebrow.
"…Right," I nodded. "He was stronger than I imagined… and he almost got me, damn it."
"And if I didn't arrive, everything would have fallen apart!" he said. "I barely rescued you back then! Imagine what would have happened if he had gotten to you, Kireina!"
"I would have definitely found a way either way, I'm strong and I can adapt," I said confidently. "I'm not a child anymore, okay?"
As I discussed with him, a part of me talked as well, the parallel version of myself that was still technically a teenager trying to prove herself to her father.
Although my true self was already a mature adult woman, the mix between both of my own selves was making me react and act in new ways…
It was as if I was living through rebellious teenage years, and it felt kind of nice, even if I was now furiously discussing with my father.
But this… it was something I never had the privilege of enjoying at all, as I never had a father until now after all.
So even things as bitter as these are appreciated.
"Y-You…!" he gritted is sharp teeth angrily. "You're grounded!"
"Eh?!" I gasped. "You can't ground me! I did a lot for the organization!"
"I-I…" he groaned, realizing he might have overdone it. "Okay fine… Maybe I won't ground you but you're in serious trouble young lady!" he said, reprimanding me. "Come on, we'll have a long, very long conversation!"
"Uugh…" I rolled my eyes, as he reprimanded me for like a whole hour before letting me go, as I saw everyone down there fighting the Recessed Beasts, it would have been a hard battle, but with my father's aid, they quickly died by droves.
At the end, once they all died, the entire Corrupted Domain showed its true appearance, a beautiful, and enormous landscape of demonic grass, bizarre vampiric trees, and now a lot of strange crystallization of the power of the Sun God, his "leftover divinity".
It was a bizarre new energy, similar to Sunlight power but… not, it was also of cosmic properties, which my father found amusing, an unexpected new treasure… but I quickly stopped him from nibbling at it, telling him that it still could be dangerous.
"Wait, father! This energy is connected to the Sun God," I said. "It could be dangerous… I believe this power was already inside the vampires, and he triggered their transformation… and he could freely control them as well."
"Wait, what?" he was shocked. "Really? Then this power… he uses it to brainwash others?"
"I don't know, but it might be part of his arsenal," I said. "Consuming it would be dangerous, even more consuming that demonic drug too… it seems like the Sun God and those Vampires are working together as they produce the Demon Drug, Euphoria."
"…" My father remained in silence while pondering things. "I see… This is much more organized than we previously thought… to think these bastards infiltrated right below our noses. It feels like those three other idiots have not realized yet?"
"Whom?" I asked.
"Who else than the Trinity? The leaders of the three other big organizations here," my father said. "The only ones that could ever compare to me by a little bit… The Vampire Queen Clementine, the Werewolf King Beowulf, and the Great Ancestor of the Amaterasu Clan, direct ancestor of the Imperial Family of this country."
"Boss, if you let me speak… are you implying we should tell them?" Uzuki stepped in, looking puzzled.
"There's no way we would do that; it would be as if we were asking them to cooperate with us, haha…" Takamura laughed.
"…"
However, my father remained silent, he didn't give any answer, as Sakamoto placed back his yellow sunglasses, patting Takamura and Uzuki's shoulders.
