Death… And Me

Chapter 4130: Go Ahead

Chapter 4130: Go Ahead

The twins' group didn't leave straight away. Kentucky hadn't seen his family in a while, so they let him have some time with them. Well, Kentucky still felt somewhat awkward. He hasn't spent much time with them to start with.

As Kentucky and his parents got their moment, the twins' group went to check on Soltrex. "Any news?"

Soltrex nodded. "It is as I initially suspected. Aurethra is not in any of the Rank A Universes and below. Information about the Werdlem Universe isn't as readily available as the others, so my guess is that she is there. You see, as the Pillar of Recurrence, her presence causes quite a few changes in the environment."

He continued. "If she enters a forest, the growth of new trees is accelerated. If she enters a city, the development of new babies in their mothers' wombs is faster too. In fact, her presence makes the simple act of getting pregnant a lot easier."

"Yet, with such obvious effects, I didn't find any reliable information that could lead us to a possible location to investigate. I'm not saying there wasn't any information that fit the description I gave you of Aurethra, but that they weren't convincing enough."

"Once again, I'm very good at this, but it is not a guaranteed science. She might be in some place where the effect of her presence doesn't reach anyone. Or maybe she is imprisoned in a place where her abilities can't affect the outside world. But then again, if such an imprisonment existed, I think I would have found some clues by now."

Roan narrowed his eyes. "That means we would need to enter the Werdlem Empire to check the network from within."

"Can't we simply contact Dofrei through the Werdlem Network and create a link so Soltrex can investigate from here?" Celis asked from the side.

Sister Orb didn't like the idea, though. [It's too risky. It would be one thing if I were there, but since information to the outside is limited, I might not be able to cover the traces. There would be an influx of information that is way too big. Of course, maybe nothing will happen. It's up to you guys if it is worth trying."

Roan was the one to refuse now. "There is no need. Yes, we could move to some random Universe and then ask Dofrei to find some random guy in the Werdlem Universe for Sister Orb to connect. If anything happened, we could simply leave and go somewhere else, and we wouldn't need to worry about the guy in the Werdlem Universe either."

"However, have you noticed one thing?" Roan looked at them. "Even though we found Aurethra's name, the system hasn't issued any quest update regarding her. That pretty much guarantees that Aurethra is in the Werdlem Universe."

Every time the twins heard the name of a new Primordial Demon Beast, the system always started a quest for them... with one exception.

The others couldn't see it. "How do you know?"

Soltrex, however, already reached the same conclusion. "Well thought. Roan is right, and the reason is pretty simple. You all know Default is in the Werdlem Universe, but there was no quest update for him either. Since Aurethra generated no quest update, it can only mean she is in the Werdlem Universe as well."

Roan nodded. "Of course, it is not 100% guaranteed. But since Soltrex couldn't find anything about Aurethra while outside the Werdlem Universe, and we have Default's example, I can't think of another possibility."

Hick already took it as the truth. "Then we have no reason to stay outside anymore. We have to go to the Werdlem Universe."

"Do we, though?" Rean pondered a bit. "I understand that Aurethra is likely in the Werdlem Universe. However, aren't we forgetting someone?"

Everyone turned to him. "Hyeoumu?"

"To be more specific, his body. Only Hyeoumu's soul is out there in Lisan," Rean explained. "Hick, you said Hyeoumu would contact us once the time was right. We already have nine Primordial Demon Beasts Free. Is that still not enough? After all, if we have to enter the Werdlem Universe and then leave it again to find Hyeoumu, it will be a waste of time."

Hick went silent for a moment. Rean and Roan always thought about it. Hyeoumu would contact them... but how? Hick only said that he couldn't do it from his side. That they would receive the message from Hyeoumu's side instead, as it was easier to enter the Werdlem Empire than to leave it, and that included communication.

"Very well," Hick seemed to make a decision. "There is a certain type of connection that can't be lost no matter what. You know what I'm talking about, right?"

Rean was the best of them when it came to matters of the soul, so he immediately understood. "The soul flame. It doesn't matter where you are. As long as you are alive, the soul flame will not extinguish. No kind of barrier can cut that connection... or at least I think there is none. Maybe the Celestial Plane has something like that."

"I will refrain from commenting on that topic," Hick said. "But yes, you are correct. A Soul Flame will always tell if its owner is alive or not. That's the kind of signal I will use."

*Vup!*

Suddenly, a tiny mouse appeared on Hick's hand. It didn't move at all. Not that it was dead, but it seemed to be frozen in time.

However, upon closer observation, the twins' group could tell it. Time hasn't stopped around the mouse. It was simply slowed down to a ridiculous degree.

Hick noticed their thoughts. "Yes, I have separated a tiny bit of this mouse's soul and made a soul flame with it. Since this is nothing but a simple animal, with no cultivation whatsoever, slowing time around him is easy, even if I'm not Xyrath. Yes, getting a Soul Flame from a creature without any cultivation was hard as hell, so don't ask how I did it. At the moment, the mouse is experiencing ten thousandths of the flow of time. Still, this mouse is from a special race that can live for a few decades. So, I can keep it alive for hundreds of thousands of years in this state."

Roan could tell the rest. "You will kill the mouse, and Hyeoumu or Soul Gem will see his Soul Flame being extinguished. That will be the signal for Hyeoumu to contact and tell us about his body's location."

"Oh!" Rean got that too. "They will have to send someone inside the Werdlem Empire again, isn't that right? Someone capable of carrying the information."

Hick confirmed. "You're right. Anyway, it is about time we get Hyeoumu's body back. Shall I proceed?"

Rean sighed. "I feel bad for our little friend..."

"Hmph!" Roan snorted. "How many of these kinds of animals and other weak races do you think you killed every time you fought at our level?"

"Yeah, yeah..." Rean didn't complain. "Go ahead."
